*Flashback*
*"Mom, where D-Ego?" A young Wren was looking up to her mother, wanting to find her brother. Wren's mother, Sharron, gave her an apologetic look. "Wrenny Bear, Diego is helping daddy with his science experiments. I told you that earlier, remember? Now run along and go play outside, mommy has an important meeting with a friend soon, so you can't interrupt." Sharron lightly ruffled Wren's hair and smiled down at her daughter. The young Wren pouted, but did as her mother told. She found her mud boots, a light rain coat, and set off outside. Their house was situated within the forest, far enough away from others in order to keep their actions private. Wren didn't understand why they lived so far away from the others, but she found comfort that she could easily walk to Elder Takeda's house for some tea and snacks. Sharron had no reservations about letting her 6 year old daughter wander around, because she knew of the barrier that would keep her safe, but Wren's father had other thoughts on the matter and typically accompanied the young girl on her walks.
Young Wren hummed a happy tune to herself as she walked along the covered path, 'Hmph, I wanted to play with brother. Ma likes to keep us apart, but why?' Wren sighed deeply, "I don't wanna go to Elder's house today." Young Wren stopped walking and looked around to see if anyone was near. She did not understand why, but there were days when she felt there were people around her, but her eyes could not find them. Wren had just began attending school within the temple and was learning about the history and differences in ability between most people on the island and the people that live within the Tradelands. 'Due to them living on an island, trade is a necessary part of life, there were 2 trade routes set up from the island to what everyone generally refers to as the Tradelands. The Tradelands, is a generalized name to any land that is not situated within the islands '
"Ma said not too bother her, maybe I can just make a quick visit into town and find a friend?" Young Wren smiled wryly to herself and set off to Takeda's house. Wren was typically a well behaved child but she also had a rebellious streak. She didn't like being isolated away from other children, she wanted to see their behaviors and mannerisms. People always fascinated her, she got in trouble when her father took her into town one day because she was staring and following after a boy that was a few years older than her. She was scolded by a shop keeper and in the end, received a scolding from her father also. Having made her plan, Wren went to Takeda's house doing her best to not alert Takeda or his bodyguards to her presence. Young Wren quietly made her way to the side of his house, where she knew she could escape the barrier. Wren's parents, nor Takeda were ever aware that she knew about the barrier, let alone could slip past it. So once she found the tree she looked around to check her surroundings.
'Lookout!' Young Wren jolted and quickly ducked to the other side of the tree to hide. She saw that one of Takeda's bodyguards was walking towards the house with another man she hadn't seen before. 'He has such orange hair. Wonder if ma knows...' Wren's thoughts trailed off as she saw her mother coming over the hill. 'Don't!' Wren frowned, 'But it's my mom? Why wouldn't I go to her?' Wren thought to herself as she waited for a reply, 'DON'T!' Wren shuddered as the voice she was hearing suddenly became more forceful. Wren wasn't sure how or when this happened, but one day when she was playing, she heard a voice in her head that warned her about a wild animal. Since then, she did not often question the different voices that would appear inside her mind, she would even talk with them sometimes before they suddenly vanished from her mind. 'Can I sneak away now?' Young Wren asked, once she did not hear any protesting from the voice, she assumed she was clear and quickly scurried to the other side of the large tree and squeezed in between the thick roots to a small tunnel that an animal had once used.
Once Wren got into the town she noticed the streets were more lively than usual, 'Perfect, I can blend in better now!' Taking the opportunity, Young Wren ran to her favorite sweet shop. Once she arrived she quickly opened the door and was greeted with a big smile. "Oh my dear Wren! It has been almost 3 weeks since you last visited. I was worried that your mother found out you were sneaking here and gave you a scolding," The woman who greeted Wren was in her late 30's, she always wore some shade of pink or red that usually contrasted with the pastel blue and purple colors of the shop. Wren only began sneaking through the barrier less than a year ago, but after her father took her to this shop for her 3rd birthday, she normally tried to escape whoever she was with to come and visit. "Hi Mama Kea!" Young Wren greeted Mama Kea and ran quickly to the counter. There were a few customers in the store enjoying their products but no one paid Wren any mind.
"My my, you have grown in such a short time! What are your parents feeding you my dear?!" Young Wren pouted, "Mama Kea, you make it seem that I'm getting fat." Young Wren hung her head, causing Mama Kea to become flustered, "Oh! Oh, I'm sorry my dear. Here, a piece of your favorite, it'll be on me today." The shop owner quickly cut a piece of fudge for Wren and placed it on a small plate and handed it over the counter. Wren looked up with a big smile, "Thank you Mama Kea! You're the best! Ma doesn't let me have sweets often." Wren quickly grabbed the place and made her way to a stool on the other side of the counter. After a few more moments of catching up, Wren finished her fudge and waved goodbye to Mama Kea and her Husband that recently came into the shop.
After she left, "Kea, you need to stop allowing that girl to come into our shop. She is nothing but trouble, they already live away from us, who knows she may report things directly to Elder Takeda. What if she-" Mama Kea banged her hands on the counter, startling her husband, "That is enough Edgar, that little girl is not a part of those, "dealings" with that promiscuous mother of hers. She's innocent, and I just worry that they will take her before she gets a chance to properly hone her skills to defend herself. *sigh* I need to calm down, I'm going to sit in the back for a moment, please mind the counter." Without another word, Mama Kea walked off, 'What sort of dealings is Ma involved in? Does Mr. Edgar think I'm bad? Do other people see me as...Is that why no one plays with me outside of classes?' Young Wren had been standing near the door and heard what Mama Kea and Edgar had been saying.
At a loss for what to do next, Wren turned away from the shop to walk down the small alleyway. Suddenly she heard heavy footsteps coming her way and before she could turn to look at what was happening, she felt someone cover her mouth and pull her towards them and out of the way of harm. Wren saw a big man that had an angry look on his face run down the alleyway and turn the corner. Letting out a sigh of relief, Wren looked up to the person that had moved her out of harm and was stunned. The person had dark pink colored hair that was cut short and somewhat shaggy. The person was also wearing a deep purple, long sleeve turtle neck, form fitting deep purple pants, and they also had black, lightweight armor protecting their chest, forearms, and shins; topping of off with a black mask covering the bottom portion of their face.
"Be careful Young Miss. The town is not as safe as it once was. Take this, the spirits will assist in your safety. Hm...You're quite young for such strength, have you gone through basic testing?" Wren was confused but shook her head, "Nu Uh, I only just entered classes." The stranger sighed, "I am not sure why you are here, but you need to leave. Many will be after you for the power you naturally harbor within your body. I am not long for this earth so I do not think we will be seeing much of each other; I have to go now." The stranger moved to the side to run off, "W-Wait! Who...what's your name?!" The stranger stopped and turned to look at Wren. "Find my sister after I'm gone from this place; look after her. She is as gullible as our youngest brother Misha." The stranger shook her head, "Her name will be Vivian, she has not yet been born. I am Galina; classified under the Lunar Unit. Take care of yourself Miss Wren, our people will need you." Without another word, Galina disappeared within the shadows. Wren was stunned and looked down at the small moon charm in her hand. It had the clan symbol engraved in the back. "She was super pretty. B-but how did she kn-know my name?"*
