You know what's annoying? Waking up 5 minutes before you are supposed to. You just lay there staring at your clock and watch it tick till the alarm goes off. Sure you can get out of bed early but will you ever do that?
Anyways, my alarm goes off and I just instantly knew today was going to be a bad day. Maybe not in a sense that something bad is going to happen but I woke up feeling a deep rooted annoyance that plagued my inner soul.
Luckily for me, today was my biweekly martial arts class. That Lee started attending. I plunked my pillow over my head and screamed. I've been training since I was 6 years old and he just waltzes in and beats me like I was a tiny kitten.
I get that he is the Devil and he likely has thousands of years on me but my pride is still wounded. It is mostly due to the simple fact his fake body looks like some lanky albino teenage prepubescent boy without a single muscle on his body.
I make a point in building muscle. I'm no muscle head or anything but I do have abs. The first time Lee noticed them his first comment was "Good luck getting a boyfriend with those muscles. Guys like daintier girls."
Like I care what a guy wants. Welcome to the 70s. Girls can have their own bank account now.
I rolled out of bed and got dressed. I run down stairs where bacon, eggs, and toast waited for me with a glass of milk. Lee of course was already there eating breakfast like he was part of the family.
"ITS ALIVE!" announced Lee.
I rolled my eyes. He does this every morning.
My mom looked up from the dishes she was doing at the sink and grinned at me.
"How's my favorite daughter today?" she asked.
"I'm your only daughter." I told her as I sat down and cut into my over easy eggs.
"I'm fine I guess." I told her taking a bite.
"Uh oh." said Lee.
I raised my eyebrows, "What?"
"You said, I guess." he said.
"I've woken up happier." I said.
"Is this because of the Dance next month?" he asked.
I blinked slowly, "Dance?"
My mom made a little squealing noise. "Oh honey! Your first Dance! What's the theme? We definately need to go shopping."
Bile rose in my throat.
Lee chuckled, "The Homecoming dance?" There are signs all over school. Are you blind?"
That explains why I woke up annoyed, "I was trying to ignore it."
"Well you have to go!" exclaimed Lee.
"Why?" I asked.
"Because only losers don't." he said making that face he does when he thinks something should be obvious.
"And I care what people think of me because?" I asked squinting at him.
"You're going." my mom said throwing down her dish rag.
I looked at my mom with a shocked face "Why do you care?"
My mom huffed, "Life isn't just about guns, reading, and martial arts. You need to get out and socialize. You haven't even been on a date! I had my first kiss when I was your age! This weekend we are going shopping and getting you a dress."
My mom placed her hand on her hips. "I have let your father take charge with you so far and he has done nothing but coddle you. It is time for you to do things teenagers do. You are not 7 anymore. It isn't healthy to not go out and meet people."
"You know most parents would love to have a daughter this well behaved!" I said getting up from the table.
"Only because their daughter actually gets out the house! I'd be happy to hear you had your first kiss! Heck, I'd be happy to hear you have romantic interest of any kind!" she shouted as I grabbed my back pack and slammed the door.
