Two days before the celebration of their project closure, Pam was set to get her egg cells collected for freezing. After several visits to the doctor today is the day! She should still be able to go to the office after the procedure which takes roughly just 10 minutes but because of the pre and post activity it can take up half to an hour of hospital time.
Pam is ready and just waiting for Jenna when her doorbell rang. She grabbed her bag ready to leave the apartment. To her surprise, Tim was in her door front.
"Wh…why are... you here?" Pam stammered seeing Tim.
"I'll go with you. Did you not get Jenna's message?" Tim explained casually to her.
"But..."she took her phone from the bag, indeed there were messages from Jenna.
Jenna: Pam I had diarrhea
Jenna: I will ask Mark to go with you. Sorry for telling you late.
Jenna: Pam, I didn't know Mark had an important meeting today. Please don't be mad at me. I asked Tim to go with you
It was an emergency. Had she known; she would have gone to the hospital alone. Jenna does not need to worry. She is a grown up woman, the procedure is not invasive she can also go home on her own.
Pam: No worries, you should have not bothered him. I can go alone.
"Are we going to stand here till its time?" Tim reminded Pam of his presence after noticing she had been busy with her phone standing in front of the door. "Otherwise, you may want to invite me in and let me sit?"
"Sorry Tim, I did not expect Jenna to be bothering you. This is not a big deal. I can go there on my own but you are here now. Let's just go." She was afraid to invite him inside so she just agreed to go with Tim so they can go now.
On their way to the hospital, there was a long moment of silence. No one dared to say anything form the time Tim ignited the car until they were out the business district.
"Are you scared of the procedure?" Tim broke the ice after turning the car audio with soft music.
"Not really, the doctor said its just like collecting blood samples on its in the va..." She could not manage to say the word for some reasons. It was very awkward.
"You mean like taking blood samples from vagina."
Pam instantly turned red, she nodded and then added, "there will be some anesthesia, it will not be painful."
"Don't you want to try getting pregnant naturally?"
Pam doesn't know how to respond to this. Her Aunt Sue said its possible at this stage while she is still 28 however how can she do it without a partner. This part she could not say to Tim directly.
"I am not ready?"
"Hmmm…do you need to be ready for it?"
She felt like being pushed to the corner to admit something, that she does not have a boyfriend to do it. So, she chose not to answer and kept quiet. She turned her head to the right side as if looking at something that is from a distance.
Tim was not dumb, he realized Pam is not in a relationship so she could not randomly have sex to conceive. It is indeed out of her character. He noticed that she suddenly spaced out.
"Sorry for asking too much. " They were near the hospital.
"I actually don't mind helping you."
"It's okay." Pam answered in almost fading voice still looking outside. She did not paid attention to the last statement of Tim.
"Are you sure it's okay?" Tim sees her mind still floating.
"Hmmm"
"Do you want to do it here? You are wearing skirt its easy, but you have to be on top."
Upon hearing on top, Pam snapped back, "what?"
Tim laughed, "I knew it you were spacing out a while ago. Never mind, you are funny Pam."
Pam heard what he said but was not clear of where it was coming from. For some reasons she thinks that what Tim just said was a little dirty.
Upon reaching the doctor's room, she was quickly briefed by her. The doctor also explained that there might be risk of getting infection but its too rare. The doctor then proceeds looking at Tim, "she cannot have sex after the procedure sir. It would be best after letting the fertility medication is washed out by the body. It can be painful so give it a week or two.
Pam panicked, she could not butt in with the doctor more so, Tim answered quickly with 'Ok'.
Tim noticed her strong gaze at him. "It's okay." He smiled and continued, "I won't bother you after the procedure. We can do it in a later time."
Pam went speechless, what is Tim implying.
Tim enjoyed the situation. The fast-paced discussion cause Pam to be submissive. He even felt good getting addressed as Pam's boyfriend.
The procedure was completed in less than 15 minutes. The doctor spoke to Pam and provided her with some vitamins and maintenance medication. Pam found Tim patiently waiting outside. 'He really did wait for me.' She sighed; Tim had to go on half day leave because of this.
"Do you want me to take you back your place?" Tim asked Pam. True to what Jenna said, the procedure is indeed. He offered to take her pack to the apartment.
"No it's fine. Are you going to NextGen?"
"Hmmm"
"Then let's go there together. I am going back to the office today.
"What? Are you serious, you can go back home first, anything in the office today is not super urgent. You can rest the whole day at home.
"No, I am good really, so let me go back to the office then. If you are going back to NextGen, then we can go now.
Tim had a lot of questions to ask Pam, he will find time in the future to know directly from her.
