I really wanted to fight that Hiro kid, but he's far too weak for that to be considered an option. I'd get bored too easily. I want a fight that has a nice thrill to it. Even if I wanted to fight him, the boss told me not to. I can't believe that kid fell for that act. There's no way that he would be able to kill the boss in one swing like that. He probably can't even kill a C-Class monster with that kind of half-ass power. Not even the Devil's Blade can help him.
"How did it go?" the boss asked me.
"He's pretty much what I expected him to be," I said. A weakling with little experience on the battlefield. Plus, he freaks put way too easily when he sees a dead body."
"He did lose his mind a little when I killed that little girl in front if him."
"I'm still surprised that you actually did that. That's pretty fucked up even for me!"
"It was necessary. I had to find a way for him to awaken the power of the Devil's Blade."
"What about the cat girl?" I asked.
"Don't worry," the boss said. "Her power will be awaken, I guarantee it. If she gets a little training from her friends, then her powers will eventually awaken. Until then, we'll just have to sit tight."
"What's so special about her powers anyway?"
"It's so special because her powers...are a part of the theriantrope bloodline."
"The theriantrope bloodline!"
That bloodline was thought to have been extinct after that village was massacred over a decade ago. Is she really that powerful?
"If I can get my hands on her power and combine that with the powers of the Devil's Blade, then I would have a power that not even a god could escape from."
"Why do you hold a grudge against the gods?" I asked.
The boss has always talked about wanting to destroy the gods, but she never said why.
"My reason...is because they took someone from me. Because of that, I can never forgive them. I will kill them all, and I'll find a way to get my beloved back."
I didn't know that she had someone that she held a candle for. I kind of envy her. She has a reason to fight, meanwhile I only fight out of boredom.
"By the way," I said. "How weak was that strike that Hiro did to you?"
The boss pulled up her cloak to reveal...a scratch on her stomach.
"Holy shit! He actually cut you!"
"It looks like he's a lot more compatible with that blade than I thought he was."
The boss used an illusion to make Hiro think that he cut her in half, but I didn't know that the kid actually managed to land a scratch on her. That kid...I wonder how much fun I'll have when I fight him?
