"XYLVIA ALMAIA," Xylvia chanted. "REGISTER: STATS."
Xylvia looked at her stats with a shocked expression. Her mouth was hanging on lose threads and her eyes looked like they were going to pop out.
"What do your stats say?" I asked.
Everyone's stats were only visible to them, and they couldn't be made visible.
"M-My magic attack...i-is 180...a-and my defense i-is...215!" she said.
"Nice!" I said with excitement.
"You'll have to wait a few hours until you can drink it again," Leonna said. "We don't want to risk you getting corrupted."
"Are we powerful enough to be able to take on C-Class monsters?" I asked.
"You should be. Those wolves are one of the more powerful kinds of C-Class monsters, so you should be able to take them on now. And since you have that blade, you shouldn't have a lot of problems."
I wanted to test my magic to see how powerful it got. I summoned my red magic circle and began and enchantment.
"AQUA SCYTHES." I chanted.
Two scythes of water, about ten meters long, were summoned from my magic circle. I've only used this attack a couple of times, but the blade was only about seven meters long last time.
"It's longer than before." I said.
"That's what I said last night," Xylvia said. "And I'm glad that I did."
I ignored Xylvia's perverted comment and started "swinging" the spears at some trees. When I say swinging, I mean using my mind to control them. When you summon melee weapons from your magic circle, you have to use your mind to maneuver them around. You need to have a clear mind as well, otherwise you won't be able to control them very well. In fact, you could actually end up hitting yourself on accident if you lose control.
I "swung" my water scythes at about 15 trees. About 6 of them fell down to the ground in piles of wood. The others were missing chunks of wood, but they were still standing.
"It looks like I still don't have complete control over the scythes." I said.
"Don't worry," Leonna said. "Improving your magic is what we're trying to do, and you're doing really well at it. You just need to work on focusing."
Easier said than done. Knowing me, it'll take a while before I can be able to keep a clear mind for a long period of time. If I don't stop freaking out during a fight, then I'm already dead where I stand. I already know how deadly the monsters are in this world. One wrong step, and I'm finished.
"AQUA SCYTHES." Xylvia chanted.
Xylvia's scythes were about eight to nine meters long, a little shorter than mine. She went over to some trees and started "swinging" at about ten of them. When she was finished...nine and half of them were on the ground in a pile of chopped wood.
"Well done Xylvia!" Leonna said.
While Xylvia may have a bit of a perverted mind, she can stay really focused during a serious moment. Her focus is incredible and far more superior compared to mine.
"Even if my magic is slightly more powerful than hers, focus is what matters in the end." I said.
"Don't worry Hiro," Leonna said. "You're not that far behind her. With a little more training, you'll be able to cut down anything with those blades."
"Hey I have an idea," Xylvia said. "Why don't Hiro and I have a one-on-one fight?"
That did sound like a good idea. Testing our skills can helo us figure out what we're doing wrong.
"I like that idea," I said. "Let's do it!"
We walked over to a fresh patch of trees, in order to create some obstacles, and stood about fifteen meters away face-to-face.
"The first one to draw blood will be the winner," Leonna said. "Are you ready?"
Xylvia and I nodded. I knew that she had a very calm and clear mindset, so I knew that it was close to impossible for me to beat her. But even so, I had to try. I had to remind myself that no matter how hopeless my chances are, I should never run away. I needed to stare death straight in the face if I wanted to survive against the monsters in this world. No matter what, I will fight with everything I've got!
"Three...two...one...GO!!"
