As the day went on, more and more people arrived at the party.
"It seems my family is acquainted with a lot of high ranking people. There are quite a lot of guests dressed in fabulous clothing." Curtis thought as he counted the people he has met. "Also it seems people age rather slower here. Even people mom addresses as uncle's or aunts look a lot younger than they should be."
"Martha! Where is your husband? I'd like to talk to him." Christopher approached.
"Hmmmm. He is in the study, can you get him for me dad?" Martha answered. "Mom can you hold Curtis, I'd like to give him a piece of my mind, it was his idea to have a party and he isn't here yet."
"Give him here dear. But I think you should stay here, Who else would greet the guests." Eleanor smiled playing with Curtis.
"But... Nevermind, dad's gone already."
...
Christopher navigated through the estate with ease, soon arriving at the study.
"Hey kid, why aren't you at the party?" He said coming through the door, but when he saw Jacob's expression, and the book he is holding, he understood.
"So you know." Christopher said solemnly.
"Know about what? I was just finishing some work, I was about to head to the party." Jacob said feigning ignorance.
"I know that book, your father always talked to me about it." He said, pointing at the book Jacob tried to hide. "It's true you know, everything in there, about the monsters, the demons, even what's written about your son's eyes. I came here to discuss it with you." He revealed.
"What do you know about this book?" Jacob questioned.
"Everything really. I also know your family's heritage, why do you think I let you marry Martha?" Christopher said. "Sit, we have a lot to talk about." He said while taking a chair.
"That book is one of the last records of what happened in the first era. Our ancestors started to collect and safeguard those books as a means to pass on history. The Awakened of that time became the nobles that stand today. The purer the blood, the higher the chance to awaken. My lineage carries the same potential as yours to awaken. But time has not been kind, the blood thinned and there has been no one awakening since over 400 years ago."
"At my grandfather's time there was an agreement. To have Nobles marry Nobles. to preserve the purity of the blood. Granted that anyone can awaken at any time, it was the last way to protect the future."
"My family, the Lehmann's have been here since the first era, the same as the De Leon's, up until now we have protected the north, while your family protected the east together with the Santiagos, Hershells, and lastly the San Fernandos."
"Our families' ancestors awakened and fought the beasts and demons of this world. We were on the losing end, i believe your ancestor wrote about it. A last ditch effort to save humanity. From my family's records it said that only few returned, and that they were all badly wounded."
Christopher stopped, letting Jacob absorb everything.
"The survivors said they tried to close the bridge between them and us, and that they failed, but they were able to damage the bridge, preventing anything from crossing it. They warned everyone to prepare for it, for the day the bridge is repaired. that was over 10,000 years ago."
"I thought it was about time, the north has been getting worse. I even sent my son to hold it. And now that I have seen your son's eyes. What I feared has come true."
"The bridge has been repaired, and that has caused the beasts to awaken and come out of their hiding. We need to make plans Jacob, I need your family to come to Cristas City. You'll be safer there." Christopher offered.
Christopher stared at Jacob, deep in thought about everything he just learned.
"I can't decide to leave so suddenly, and I can't leave my home." Jacob declined.
"When your dad disappeared years ago, I knew something was up. Someone like him just vanishing is a bad omen."
"He disappeared? I thought he had died. What happened to my dad?" Jacob shouted.
"I'm afraid I don't know." Christopher frowned. "He's one of the smartest people I know. If he is hiding, then I guess we should fear what he is hiding from."
...
7 Years Later.
A boy was laying down by a tree in the courtyard, covered by the shadow of the tree. The rays of the setting sun shone on him. He was wearing a white cotton shirt, paired with a black pair of shorts that contrasted well with his black hair, he was sleeping.
"There you are, I've been looking all over the house for you." said a young lady. She was wearing a blue stylish dress paired with white sandals, she had black flowing hair that went down to her shoulders, an oval shaped face with thin eyebrows, keen eyes, a pointed nose, and thin lips, her face devoid of any imperfections; she was Elise.
"Father has been looking for you." Elise repeated.
