The party was ready, everybody was greeting his father... well, not everybody. Where's Miss?
It was only a few days since the augur's death. She was probably still lamenting his death. He had been a father to her, after all, and his death was so sudden.
He remembered when Miss came knocking at their door a few days ago, her eyes tired and puffy from crying. She looked down and sobbed, before saying:
"Yerem is dead"
Alexander accompanied Miss as Alaster ran to the woods with the other Elders to see what happened. Alexander rubbed her back in an attempt to comfort her.
Alaster came at around dawn, telling her it was time to bury the augur. Miss cried harder that day. Burying the augur was probably hardest for her... especially when she was doing the rites. All Alexander could do was give her a hug. Looking around, Alexander realized that the people who attended the burial was whispering to each other. He knew they were talking about Miss... about how she could have killed the augur.
--------------------
He walked out of the Elder's house, spotting Miss run towards him in the distance. He smiled... until he saw two men accompany her. Who are these people? They look like they came from Silverstar and yet they are not familiar to him. Where could they have come from? Did she suddenly have friends he didn't know about?
"Where have you been?" he asked her, impatient.
Miss looked surprised, as if she never expected to see him. "Alexander? What are you doing here?"
"Waiting for you!" he grabbed her arm, distancing her from the men following her "Does she know you?"
Miss freed herself from his grasp. "They're with me."
Alexander raised his eyebrow. Did she meet them somewhere in woods or something? In the short span of time she was alone? He carefully observed both men. One man had a large scar on the base of his neck and the other had a small sun tattoo on his shoulder. They were as tall as him but they looked different. Somehow, their presence threatened him, despite how friendly their faces were. On the contrary, their friendly presence seemed to make him feel threatened even more. What is this he's feeling?
"The... party is ready." he muttered simply.
He grabbed Miss' arm and dragged her to the ballroom. Everyone went silent the moment thy entered. They all eyed Miss with a murderous look. Alaster saw this and decided to break the tension by talking to Miss.
"I'm glad you came" he said, smiling at Miss. "I thought you would not make it."
The sight of Alaster made Miss freeze. All of a sudden, she started taking a few steps back, holding her head with both her hands as if in disbelief.
"No" she muttered under her breath "No, no, no, no, no!"
The unknown guests ran to her and aided her when she was about to fall to the ground.
"Don't worry!" the man with the tattoo said "we're medics!"
Alexander could only watch as both men took Miss out of the place. He ran towards her and saw them talking. Miss was upset. Why is she talking to them instead of me?
"...Silverstar will cease just like Goldthorne..."
He stopped, instinctively recalling the words she spoke the day the orphans died. Even he couldn't wrap his head around it. He always wondered the main question... What was Goldthorne? What happened to it? Also, why is Silverstar next for this 'sacrifice'?.
Miss suddenly got up and ran away, heading towards the cliff by the sea- the place where she'd always go when she wanted to be alone. However, he couldn't let her be alone when she's sad. He ran past the 'medics' and followed her there.
"Miss!" he shouted, panting once he reached her "Talk to me, please"
"Alexander"
Miss turned towards him. Alexander stepped back, surprised by the stoicism in her eyes. Scanning her more, he saw that she was holding a dagger in her right hand. For some reason, he recalled Miss' stares from years ago- and how terrified he was of her.
"You will spark the end of Silverstar..." he felt a shiver run up his spine as he felt as gust of wind run past. He realized that his fear of Miss had never disappeared.
The winds blew harder and lightning could be seen from the distance, followed by claps of thunder. The sea was getting restless but Miss remained unmoved.
"Miss! We have to leave!" he yelled frantically, keeping a close eye on the fast-approaching storm.
He tried to grab her hand but Miss raised the knife, looking at him with a cold expression, ready to hurt him should he approach her. Alexander stepped back, clueless of what to do.
"Katie!"
Alexander turned towards the men behind him. It seemed they followed along soon after Alexander left. Who in the world is Katie?
"Don't do this!" the man with the scar shouted "You can't hurt him!"
"This has to be done!" Miss shouted amidst the roars of thunder.
He suddenly felt a strong blow to his back and he fell to the ground. The man with the tattoo broke his fall, his gaze still focused on Miss. He could hear the muffled voices of the the man with the scar, obviously pleading something to Miss. Alexander faced the other direction, concerned of what was happening.
He saw Miss crying, dropping the bloody dagger. Did she stab me? He felt light drops of rain fall to the ground and his stab wound started to sting. He wanted to move but couldn't. His energy was draining fast. All he could do was watch as the man with the scar cautiously approached Miss, trying to keep her from falling. Still, Miss was stepping back. Eventually, the ground beneath her feet crumbled and she fell, the man instinctively trying to reach for her.
Lightning struck overhead. It was getting more and more dangerous to stay outside. He saw the pouring rain get closer, and he could feel his body getting colder. Finally, he closed his eyes as he heard the comforting words of Miss, telling him to sleep, he felt himself getting lifted up.
