The people of Silverstar were startled when claps of thunder were suddenly heard in the distance. Shortly after, heavy rains came... then an earthquake. Everything in the Elder's house fell to the ground, shattering to pieces. The winds blew harder and harder until it was hard for anyone to fight it. The earthquake got even stronger and the ground beneath them started to crack.
Alaster knew it resembled that night... the night when Miss murdered that family. He was convinced she was the reason for this as well. Then a thought hit him: Has the time come for Silverstar to end? Were Miss' words when the orphans were buried actually true?
He recalled his conversation with Alexander after they've talked to Miss. No matter how well his son had hidden it, Alexander's fear of Miss was still evident in his eyes.
"Before mom died... Miss told me something." Alexander told him, almost shivering at the thought. "I didn't give it much thought until now but... with Silverstar being sacrificed and that familiar voice-" he took a deep breath, "She told me that I will spark the end of Silverstar."
The recollection seemed to instantly lead Alaster to his next thought. Where's Alexander?
He managed to walk out of the house and saw large, dark clouds looming over the village. The sea was restless and large waves were already crashing onto the shore. The entire village was beginning to flood. The sea was trying to swallow the island.
"Alexander!" he yelled, knowing fully well he won't be heard.
After a few moments, he saw two figures running towards him, one of them carrying his unconscious son on their back. He looked above and saw that lightning was getting more frequent. He gestured for the men to run faster. Once they all managed to enter the house, they made Alexander lie down on his bed as the healers tended to his wounds.
"Miss?" Alaster asked the men who helped his son.
The two looked distraught. "She fell off the cliff" the man with the scar answered, "She... was the one who stabbed him."
Alaster nodded, surprised he saw it coming. He was fixated at the amount of blood that got soaked into their shirt. "I will find fresh clothes for you to wear."
"Sir, you have to understand... before morning, this island will be gone." the man with the tattoo cut in.
"Did the augur tell you that?"
"Who?"
"Miss."
The conversation was interrupted by Alexander's coughing. Alaster rushed to his son's side, stroking his damp hair with his hand. Alexander looked around, probably trying to look for Miss.
"Did she really... fall?" he muttered, his breaths shallow.
Alaster looked down and nodded. Alexander squeezed his father's hand tightly.
"Who are you?"
Everyone turned to the man who now stood at the door to Alexander's bedroom. Upon looking at him, Alaster told the people to make way. It was the red-haired stranger. Upon closer inspection, the man looked like Miss. Unlike her eyes, his showed emotion: remorse.
"This town will be gone by morning." he said, walking past the crowd. "No matter how hard you try, no one will survive."
"What are you...?" Alexander muttered "You were the one who told Miss."
The man shook his head. "That girl is more capable than me. She just never knew she would be involved."
"What... how would you know that?" Alaster asked him, watching him pace the room.
"I'm the sole survivor of the tragedy that fell upon my people." The redhead said, "I only survived because the gods willed it. They needed someone to execute their will and I was the only one who can do so back then. When they told me they will be sacrificing Silverstar as well, I knew it would be her that will be starting it."
"That does not exactly answer my question. Do you know her?"
The man and Alaster locked eyes. "I'm her father."
The island quaked once more. This time, it was much stronger than the earthquake before. Before long, the ground beneath them cracked open and engulfed them, just as the waters of the sea engulfed the island.
Alexander felt his body get lighter. The rushing waters against his skin was replaced with warmth.
"Alexander of Silverstar." voices echoed everywhere "Who was it? The one you wanted to speak to?"
"Who are you?" he replied, hearing his voice echo as well.
"Our names do not matter... Who do you wish to speak to before you rest?"
Alexander remembered what his mother told him before she died. "You will be loved by man and gods alike...". It was then that he knew they were the gods and they wanted him to find peace by helping him do what he wanted to do before he died.
"I wish to speak to Miss."
He felt a force pulling him and he fell. Suddenly, he heard sobbing and he opened his eyes. He was somewhere unfamiliar... somewhere different and yet vaguely familiar. He could feel slender hands holding him up, hugging him tenderly. He looked up and saw someone. She was the one who was sobbing. He felt drawn towards her and something was telling him it was Miss... but it was not her at the same time. Then he realized something: Miss... She and this girl... they were one being.
"Alexander," she muttered, sadness and remorse visible in her eyes, "I'm so sorry."
He smiled, seeing Miss in this girl's eyes, and reached for her face. "I hope our worlds would collide once more."
He felt her hug get tighter as he fell asleep. Somehow, it comforted him that his relationship with Miss would carry on, even through time. The gods promised him peace and they gave it to him.
