Miss lay on Alexander's bed, Amalia looking at her from the doorway to the room.
The place suddenly shifted and she found herself in the living room, looking up at the ceiling. Amalia's face entered her view. She could tell Amalia's eyes were wide, almost cautious of Miss' presence. She felt a shock run through her body when Amalia leaned close to her and mutter something into her ear.
"You are the messenger of the gods." She whispered, her voice quivering, "They can't be any more cruel. I apologise, but I will not let them kill Alexander or let you awaken."
Miss then saw a black figure emerge from behind Amalia, raising an obsidian sword.
"No!" Miss tried to scream but couldn't make a sound. She barely could make her body move.
The figure plunged the sword into Amalia's body and it impaled her, the tip of the sword missing Miss' body. Miss looked up at Amalia. Amalia seemed unaffected at all by it. What was that sword for, if not to kill her?
Miss was back in Alexander's room. She saw Amalia standing where she was before. This time, the sword impaling her seemed to slowly turn to dust. It was time for her death. Amalia seemed to know it. She looked determined to carry out what she told she'd do. Amalia looked back at the door outside, making sure Alaster was not nearby.
Once she made sure Alaster was not coming home, she cautiously entered the room holding a dagger. Miss just lay motionless as she locked eyes with Amalia. She just responded to her intent with a nod. Amalia's face softened, knowing she was doing it with Miss' approval.
Just as she walked to her, readying the dagger, Alaster rushed into the room and swatted the knife away. Amalia's face showed only one expression: panic. She swooped down and tried to grab the knife but Alaster grabbed her hands and kicked the knife away.
"Let me go, Alaster!" She screamed, desperate to grab the knife.
Alexander entered the room, looking at his mother and father.
"Alexander!" his father yelled, "Grab the knife. don't let your mother get it!"
Alexander dived towards and grabbed the knife, following his father's command.
Miss stood and she found herself back to the sea floor, gazing at the man's feet. The transition of her memories made her feel nauseated and she pressed her temples to alleviate it.
"She was a very talented medium. It was a shame she put the safety of her child first." The man told her.
"You were going to kill her son!" She said firmly. "If I had known my future back then, I would have agreed for her to kill me."
The man scoffed, then he laughed. It was a deep, mocking laugh. Miss figured it was how all the gods would laugh, knowing how ignorant their creations were of their fates.
"You always knew, oracle... And yet here you are." He held out his hand to her "Stand, and follow me."
"Why must I follow what you tell me?"
"You wish to change your incarnate's fate, don't you?"
Miss paused. She stood without accepting the god's gesture. The god turned and started walking towards one of the islands.
She measured up the man before her. Perhaps it was a bit late for her to do it now but she never could do it properly while she was sitting on the seafloor. He was taller than her, his muscular back wider than her body. He was more tanned than her, a feature that seemed to accentuate the man's appeal. His curly black hair looked sticky and dry. He must have spent most of his time swimming in the sea. It reminded her of how sticky her hair would get whenever she would swim.
She looked around, watching the motion of the water as they towered beside both of them. The creatures seemed to gather at the edge of the water to watch the man walk by.
The man stopped in his tracks, causing Miss to stop as well. Immediately, she noticed the tall mountain towering ahead of them. It was so high, it could reach the low clouds in the sky.
The ground beneath their feet cracked and the waters started falling. Miss walked closer to the man who seemed undisturbed. The ground beneath them started to rise. It started to form bridges towards different islands and, soon enough, different representatives from each islands came.
The man who accompanied her headed back to the island on the far- left. Looking at the people walking toward her, she didn't know how to act. Should she bow? Is she allowed to ignore their presence?
Once the people stood in front of her, a small stone table materialized in front of them. Each of them held a scroll with their own conditions.
"We give you 3 conditions that you can list for all of us to follow." One of them told her, "Name them and it shall be done"
Miss started to think, wondering what can be advantageous for her and her incarnate. She assumed Alexander can no longer enter the picture. The gods before her looked at her with very stern eyes. When she gazed once more at the scrolls they held, she began to wonder what they had written and whether it be fair for her as well.
"Pardon me, but I believe I must know your end of the contract first." She told them.
The gods paused and nodded, handing her their scrolls. Miss grabbed the scrolls and started reading its contents. She was astonished to find their conditions were fair. Unfortunately, she was not an expert in contracts or anything related to her situation. She had a feeling scrying will not help her now.
It was almost sundown when Miss had decided on her terms. The gods waited patiently, as if a day was nothing but a minute to them.
When she stated her terms, she was even more flabbergasted... The gods agreed. The gods sealed their promises by swearing by their names.
Miss held out her hand for a handshake. One of the gods stepped toward her and shook her hand firmly. When she met the god's eyes, a wave of fear hit her and she found herself flying toward the ocean, now slowly sinking deeper as the sky above went dark.
