Chapter 30 - Grandpa's birthday( part 2)

Elizabeth went to the garden where the party was taking place. She searched for her aunt to talk to her. After her marriage, she never had the chance to  meet her. She rarely spoke to her aunt on the phone. After having a little chat with Michelle, she tried to talk to her uncle but the man didn't even look at her as always. Even though Elizabeth and John meet everyday in the office, they seldom spoke to each other. Even when they  spoke, it was nothing more than business.

After seeing her aunt and  her uncle busy with other people, Elizabeth was left alone. She looked around and saw Aaron talking with his clients. Liam was yet to come. "You look beautiful," She heard a voice. It was Fiona, Aaron's mother. "Thank you," she replied with a smile. "Why are you standing alone?" she asked Elizabeth. "I was going to grab a drink," Elizabeth replied. After pausing for a few seconds, Fiona asked her if she was happy with Aaron. "He has been stubborn  since he was a child, he never expresses his feelings. I hope you can understand what I'm trying to say,"

"I understand," Elizabeth replied. Elizabeth knew that he was stubborn and did not express his feelings much but he was not like that a few years ago, at least not with her. She wondered what might be the reason for Aaron not being close with his own mother.

"How was Aaron  when he was a child," she asked her mother-in-law.

"My  Aaron always liked to spend time with the people he loved, especially with me. Generally seven or eight year old children are picky eaters but I never had any difficulty with him. From vegetables to sea food, he used to eat everything and sea food was his favorite."

There was a faint smile on her face while talking about her son.

"Sea food?" Elizabeth asked.

"Yes. He loves seafood. He never used to share it with anyone but me," answered Fiona.

"But he hates seafood and he is a picky eater," Elizabeth thought but didn't say it out loud. The Aaron she knew was completely a different person.

"Oh God!!  Marcus must  be waiting for me. I have to leave now. I'll talk to you later,"  said Fiona with a sheepish smile on her face but the fake smile she put died down when she turned her back to Elizabeth who was in a confused state. But the way Fiona left, making an excuse made Elizabeth's doubts stronger. She understood that the Winchester family was hiding something about Aaron and Elizabeth wanted to know about it but at the same time she didn't want to do something which would make Aaron remember his past.

As Roseline was searching for Ryan, she saw him leaving a room with something in his hand. She tried to call his name for him to hear, but she thought it would be better to reach him instead of  calling his name to avoid people's attention. As she tried to follow him, she heard a voice.

"What are you doing here?" Roseline was startled to hear a commanding voice from behind. The man was tall and seemed to be in his fifties. "Washroom," she answered in a slight shivering tone, when  she couldn't think of any other reason. " Outsiders are not allowed to walk around in this house, young lady. You will be questioned if you are caught by the maids or the bodyguards and we don't want a beautiful girl like you to be questioned, do we?" the man asked her.

"I'm sorry. I didn't know that outsiders are not allowed here," Roseline apologised.

"Apologies accepted. What is your name?" the man asked.

"Roseline Carter," she pronounced her name and saw the man to look at her in surprise. "I am the younger  sister of Aaron Winchester's wife," she added. The surprised look on the man's face, changed into a smile.

"Be careful, you might break the vase," said another man softly, when Roseline almost touched the vase with her hand for support mistaking it with a wall. It was after Roseline  had enough glance at that man, she understood that he was Liam's father, Steve Winscet. But she didn't know the man who spoke to her first.

"You are not a child to go  wherever you want. This isn't a place for a person...."

"Silvia, calm down," said the man to the lady named Silvia who seemed to be a proud woman.

"Mr. Whales, Mr. Winscet, it is such an honour to see you both together," Roseline heaved a sigh of relief when everybody's attention shifted to a man who came to talk to them. Taking a chance she got, Roseline silently left the place. Roseline would've surely met Ryan if only she didn't run into the lady named Silvia and the other two men. Blaming the situation, she helplessly stood behind a pillar where she saw Ryan talking to his cousin, Liam. Roseline walked towards with long strides but stopped in the middle when she felt that they were discussing something important. Roseline thought of returning to the party but she was called by Ryan by the time she tried to leave.

"What are you doing here?" Ryan asked  looking at her and then at Liam before his eyes completely settled down at her, after he was sure that Liam left the place. Roseline observed that Ryan was a bit tense and she wondered what might be the reason.

"I was searching for you," she said.

"But why?" Ryan asked her. "Let's go somewhere else and talk, if my parents saw us talking in a lonely place they might..."  before Ryan could complete the words, "have the wrong ide...ea," Roseline interrupted him, "I love you, Ryan."
