Today was the first schoolday in three days, and man it was difficult to get up at 6:30 AM this morning. However, I did, and went through my normal morningly routine in order to prep for the schoolday.
For breakfast I prepared some quick maple and brown sugar oatmeal. Shortly after taking it out of the microwave, I drowned it in milk as an experiment. It tasted fine overall and I have no regrets.
Shortly after finishing breakfast, a friend of mine (who I'll refer to as Joe for the rest of this entry) showed up at my door. He agreed to drive me to school today.
It's always nice to get a ride because then I don't have to forego being the only junior on the claustrophobic bus with no air conditioning.
Needless to say, we arrived at school around half an hour early. Today, for Joe atleast, was ACT score release day. He agreed to check his score with me that morning.
Being a group of junior, all of my friends (including myself) have been taking a number of assessments as college entrance exams, mainly the SAT and ACT. I've taken the SAT once and after virtually no practice I scored a 1380. I may take it again in the future but I'm perfectly fine with that score as well so I may not. I'm not sure.
My friend Joe, on the other hand, had already taken the SAT and scored an 1190. Although an 1190 is quite a bit above the national average, it is certainly not high enough to get into most top 50 Universities and so this score was a lot lower than he wished for.
Shortly after, he switched to team ACT and today was the day he got his score back. He slowly logged into the testing portal and as his score was revealed, he was filled with dissapointment. He scored a 23 on the ACT, a score equivalent to an 1130-1150 on the SAT.
I did my best to counsel Joe and shortly after I headed to my first class, physics.
Today in physics we continued to go over some practice problems for energy and work. The concept doesn't seem very difficult, just an added step onto forces.
We also received our tests back and were able to see our mistakes. I got a 95%, messing up the bonus and an explanation question.
I then continued to Digital Design. I got my flyer project grade back, and had received an 85% due to two typos I had made. This was rather irritating as I had spent so much time and effort on this project for it to be ruined by two typos. I asked my teacher if I could fix them and resubmit, and she agreed. I'm not sure how many points I'll score back.
In AP statistics we had a "multiple choice monday" even though it was Tuesday. Essentially, all we did was answer some multiple choice questions on our own and go over them at the end of class.
Tuesday's lunches are always the best. I normally get a chicken quesadilla which is one of the better school lunch options. I accompanied my meal with an orange juice and mandarin oranges. All together it tasted great.
IT class today was a makeup day. We had time to get any work that we had not turned in for any reason turned in, as interims (half report cards I guess) were due at the end of the day today. I had no work I hadn't turned in, so I literally spent the entire class playing minecraft education edition in a small multiplayer world I had created. It was rather fun.
Switching to pre-calculous a friend of mine alerted me that the test grades were in the online gradebook. I quickly checked and was pleased to see a 100% sitting in front of my eyes. Somehow, unfortunately, a lot of my friend's did not manage to do so well, scoring Cs and below.
Today in class we were going over the Law of Sines. This topic is rather boring because I actually had already learned this two years ago as a freshman in geometry. It's basically just plugging into a formula and gets super boring if done repetitively.
In APUSH, we were given time to work on an outline for the chapter we were reading. To be honest though, nobody actually worked on the packet. Everyone sat on their phones doing absolutely nothing, myself included. I guess we were all just too lazy and apathetic to get anything done.
Finally, I went to english. We began our discussion on our next unit, transcendentalism. Essentially, the philosophy views all people as good at their core and expresses that we should be one with nature. It's an interesting concept, I guess, but certainly not one for me.
After the seventh period bell rang I rode the bus to my neighborhood, and then began the trek home in the rain. It wasn't bad though because it was nice and cool yet not hot at the same time. I enjoyed today's weather.
I worked on homework today from around 4:30 until 6:30. Particularly, I had AP statistics, pre-calculous, and APUSH homework. Luckily, I managed to finish the guided reading outline that I hadn't even really looked at during class. I'm glad I didn't procrastinate too much on that assignment.
For dinner that night I ate homemade chicken soup. I really enjoy this meal, as the real chicken tastes amazing and the broth is a mixture of so many different tastes. I complimented the soup with a cup of cola.
Shortly after dinner, I retired to my bedroom and continued to watch Overlord until around 10PM when I started writing today's chapter. Ocerall the series is getting very interesting and I am now hooked. I'll probably watch a bit more after writing and then get ready to go to sleep. I do not think I have anything huge planned tomorrow. Peace out.
