Flames POV
"Whew that was a close one." Viper sighed.
"Close? This is worse than close. It's a disaster Morgana is connected to Tiger and now Tiger has seen me and knows I'm here which means we need to speed things up his men are going to come in droves looking for the crown," I was on the verge of panicking. "I always wondered why kids seemed to disappear overnight but yet Morgana refused to let anyone be adopted when people came looking to adopt. She was giving them to Tiger for his army I just know it."
At this point I was shaking with anger I want Morgana to pay her and Tiger both.
"Fang, we need to take more defensive measures and I need to see the elder as soon as possible to try to get my memories back. There is going to be war soon I can tell and I need to figure out how to save the kids Morgana gave to Tiger."
"Of course, love. Don't forget you have an army of your own behind you." He tried to comfort me and honestly it was working. "And they aren't being forced to fight alongside you."
"Your right," I stood up with Fangs help. "I got things to do which reminds me the city officials will be arriving soon to check on the kids and the house can you stay and help?"
"Yes ma'am."
"Me too I want to help." Viper cheered
Viper went to entertain the kids while Fang made his way to the kitchen to cook dinner. I made my way to my new office.
My office was decked out with solid wood bookcases filled with books on a variety of subjects from childcare 101 to business management. There were even some kids' books for the younger ones to read while adoption papers were being officiated and finalized. There was a large fireplace installed between the large book cases with a large picture of a flying dragon over the fire place and dragon figures on the ends of the mantle along with pictures of the kids in the orphanage in frames the same pictures they took after each of them went through a makeover they would make nice gifts to the parents who adopted the child in the picture. My Desk was in front of the fire place so I'd my back to the fire keeping me warm while I was working there was a fur rug under the desk that was soft on my bare feet.
On my desk I had a new computer and laptop a phone and a lamp with a Dragon wrapped around a skull figure in the corner for décor. The glow of the fire complemented the dark mahogany wood that made up all the furniture in the office I had a large office chair that was super comfy in front of my desk there were two smaller chairs that still looked comfortable for my guest. Along the wall by the door there was a bench with pillows for the kids to sit and read while they wait on would be parents.
I went over to my desk and unlocked the small safe that was underneath the desk using a pin code only me Viper and Fang know it was where I told Viper to put the paper work for the Counsel members to look over when they arrive. As I was looking over the papers, I heard the new doorbell ring signaling the arrival of the City Council's officials. I rushed downstairs to greet them.
When I get to the bottom of the stairs, I see the children eagerly talking to an older woman in a very formal business outfit with a briefcase containing a lot of files. She was smiling at them as she handed each of them a piece of candy. It was the head counsel woman who Flame often spoke with.
"Hello Ms. Edalyn how are you today?" I asked her politely.
"Hello Flame, dear I'm doing well." she looked up from the kids and approached me "I'm loving the renovations you did on the place I see putting you in charge was a splendid idea, But I'm curious where the funds came from for such renovations."
"That was from me and my family." Fang interjected. "Hi I'm Fang Wolfe my family often like to donate to organizations like these but we declined while the previous caretaker was here but we learned the Orphanage was under new Management and decided to fund all necessary repairs among other things for them. I have all the Tax papers for the donation already written up for your files." Wow he was good at this whole creating stories to get by with the government officials. "I will be working for Ms. Dragonaria for a while my family wants me to earn my own living while I attend school here with Ms. Dragonaria."
"Oh, how wonderful Flame dear you should keep this man close he is a good one." She winked at me making me blush. "You will be such a cute couple." she was smiling so innocently it was hard to be mad with her just embarrassed.
