Flames POV continued
Exhaustedly I made my way downstairs with Fang. Only to find Viper had ordered dinner from Olive Garden for everyone. I took a plate of chicken alfredo, two breadsticks, and a small salad with a cup of Non-Alcoholic Strawberry Daquiri from Welches. The kids were happily lapping up their noodles and juice talking amongst themselves. I was quiet throughout dinner and I think Fang noticed as he took my empty plate to the kitchen before picking me up from my chair and carrying me up the stairs bridal style to my room. Normally I would have protested this kind of thing but right now I was too tired to fight it.
I was laid down in a super soft bed that was warm but my eyelids were too heavy to look around the room and I quickly drifted off to sleep.
Meanwhile Fangs POV
After putting Flame to bed in her room I went back downstairs to talk to viper.
"Hey Viper we need to talk."
"Sure, what's up?"
"Besides the issue of Tiger that your already aware of I think we might have a clue as to the location of Flames crown. The lady that came today told us Flame was found in a cave as a baby by some hikers."
"Really that's great we can get their and find it before he does."
"Yes, but we need to be cautious now that he has seen her, he's bound to send people to watch her closely so I will try to send someone discretely to scout it out." I pondered on who I could send.
"Well how about we send someone of the smaller races like a lizard or someone who can tunnel their way to the cave.
"That might work, but I'll send a member of the Eagle Clan first to scope it out from above first."
"Okay, so what do we do till we leave for the cave."
"Nothing, act like normal for now. I'll look into finding those hikers they might know something more than what was in the report."
"Okay well than I'll head to my home here in town while you I guess will be heading back to the hidden woods."
"No, I'll stay here Tiger saw me so I know he has his people watching for me to leave so he can follow me to find the others of our kind."
"How do you know that for sure?"
"I can smell them when I walked past an open window."
"Oh well keep guard over Flame and the kids as well I don't want them hurt."
"You're not the only one who cares about Flame or the kids Viper." I shot her a glance with a pointed look. In my mind no one cared about her more than I did. I know how much Flame cares about those kids she has always been the kind to love with her whole heart and would be devastated if anything were to happen to those she loved.
Viper shrugged her shoulders before heading to the kitchen to clean up before she left to go to her home here in town. I went back to Flames office to use the computer to purchase a home here in town as well to keep up my ruse as an employee and student here in town I found a decent place that matched my story of a wealthy family. I sent an email to my beta, and alpha of the Lunar Moon Pack Alpha Mason, to send Elder Oak and his wife, Elder Flora, they would help me keep an eye on things in town as they both had an amazing ability to speak with the plants around them, Flora was also special as she could use the flowers to see what she wasn't able to see from her location.
They would be the most vital parts of my plans in keeping Flame and her orphan kids safe, finding and investigating the cave, and finally getting Flame some training from Elder Oak. Training she would need to keep her dragon side under control until her powers returned.
Suddenly my phone started to ring looking at the caller ID I saw it was Alpha Mason could he have already gotten my email?
"Hello Mason."
"Hey Alpha I just got your email." He sounded concerned. "Is everything ok? The Elders are in my office right now throwing a ton of questions my way that I don't know the answers to because you failed to fill me in so spill." Ok maybe concerned was a stretch he sounds more annoyed.
"It's a bit much to say over the phone." That was the honest truth. "Long story short Tiger is watching us closely and his people might be listening in so I can't talk now I'll fill you in later."
"You better spill next time I see you. Or I won't forgive you." Jeez he was mad at me.
"I promise to fill you in later." He has always been like this since I've known him. I have known him for centuries we met two years after the war. He was an alpha in training under his uncle after his father the previous Alpha died in the war it was one week before his alpha ceremony and eighteenth birthday. No one can be an alpha before they are eighteen if the Alpha dies before their son turns eighteen then their Betas take over until the next alpha is of age or if there is no descendant from the alpha which is rare as most Alphas find their mates when they turn fifteen right after their first shift like me, I found my mate when I was seventeen two years after my first shift the same day I first met with Flame after hitting puberty prior to that the last time I saw her we were kids.
During the week Mason turned eighteen he was fretting as he still didn't have a mate to help him with both daily pack duties and planning his ceremony which was usually handled by the future alphas mate. I was there to observe and to find a potential beta and I needed an Alpha who could manage a large pack as I was not only Alpha to the largest pack but I was also seeing to the duties that once belonged to the Queen so I needed an Alpha who could manage my pack and their own when I was away without it being too much for them to handle. So far, he was doing ok doing both his work and work that should have gone to his mate on top of that he was leading training exercises and patrols as the Alpha of the second largest pack I was impressed. He was also surprisingly easy to talk to unlike those who talk to me as if they were just trying to please me which I hated that kind of treatment. However, from day one Mason never acted that way with him we were equals most of the time unless there was something we disagreed on and I would need to use my alpha tone on him which wasn't often. My pack referred to him as Beta Mason which took him some getting used to as he was normally referred to as Alpha Mason. We soon became good friends.
"Fine whatever you say Alpha I'll make the arrangements in the meantime."
"Thank you." and with that I hung up before going to the spare room to get some sleep.
