Flames POV
We were in my office going over the paper work of the children that we had claimed to be adopted. Things were going smoothly as we discussed all the children even the ones still here. I was looking forward to when we would reach Angel's file along with her brother, Gryphon, I was hoping the council woman would accept my adoption of them. We also spoke of some new kids that will be arriving tomorrow from the neighboring towns that didn't have room for them.
"It's amazing how you got so many children adopted by such good families. I knew it was a good idea to put you in charge after all you have been tending to the children since the day you arrived." she looked out the large window. "That day was a rather depressing day. One I won't soon forget."
"Wait you know about the day I came here?" Not even I knew that, when I asked Morgana, she just slapped me and told me it was none of my business.
"Of course, didn't you ever ask about it."
"I did, but ultimately was made to never ask about it again by Morgana." I informed her.
"Well then I will tell you." She took a sip of her coffee. I could tell this was going to be a long story so I signaled Fang to bring more. He nodded and quietly left the room. We sat waiting till he got back clearly, she wanted him to hear this story to. It took a total of about fifteen minutes till he came back with a cart of coffee, hot tea, cream, sugar, milk, and an assortment of snacks from macaroons, small cakes, scones, and crackers with cheese. After setting the cart next to the desk that was now littered with papers and stacks of files Fang went to stand by the fireplace.
"Let's see now, it was about sixteen years ago you were roughly two years old from what the doctors could tell."
"The doctors?"
"That's right, you were found in the mountains by some hikers who were exploring a cave they came across after hearing a loud boom following a flash of a bright light. They claimed while exploring the undiscovered cave they saw you sleeping on a flat stone floating on a small body of water. There was no sign of anyone else being their or any clues on who your parents could be. Later when the sheriffs went in to investigate as well all that was found was a pendant with a name, we assumed was your given name." She took a sip of her coffee. "The doctors were surprised that after being found abandoned in a cave where there was supposedly an explosion you were rather healthy and unharmed. You stayed there in the hospital for about three months but when no one came forth to claim you as their child the authorities had no choice but to bring you and everything that was found with you to the orphanage to be put under Morgana's care."
"You said I was found in a cave with a pendant. Do you know where they are?" The cave and pendant might be a clue I don't know why some something was eating at the back of my mind.
"Well, the cave was marked on the files on the paperwork that were handed over as for the pendant I discovered that Morgana had pawned it soon after you were brought here." She started rummaging around in her purse. "I came across it while out shopping in town with some friends of mine." She pulled out a box that one would get when buying a fancy necklace at a high-end jewelry store. Opening the box, I saw a golden pendant. No wonder Morgana sold it with her greed for money she preferred money or jewelry covered in expensive gem stones. This pendant was solid gold with a dragon that was flying in a loop engraved on it around a large opal stone in a rather ornate design. With teardrop shaped Onyx and small round ruby beads hanging from it attached to the pendant was a thin yet rather sturdy gold chain. While it was a rather ornate piece for me it was considered plain to Morgana.
"let's see somewhere in these piles there is also your file that should contain the image and map of the cave where you were found." Before we could find my file, an alarm sounded out from inside her purse. "Oh dear, that means my time here is up. I'm afraid there are other places I must go to today. I'm rather happy of what I saw today keep up the good work dear goodbye." she stood and started making her way to the door before turning back around. "Oh, by the way your monthly checks will be increasing starting now expect a check in the mail in a few days." and with that she left before I could say anything as I sat there dumbstruck clenching my pendant.
Fang let out a long whistle. "Wow never thought I'd see that again."
"See what?"
"The pendant it was one made by a young rabbit I used to play with as a kid even you she made It for you as a gift for the fall moon harvest."
