Chereads / Platinum Tanker / Chapter 3 - Honey

Chapter 3 - Honey

Returning to the service desk Nathaniel was encountered by a young elvish man. He was standing there talking with his father William and the young cheery lass manning the desk. When he finally reached the desk the young elvish man turned to him and said "Well this must be the young lad I'm to accompany. How do you do my name is Clarence nice to meet you."

The young woman behind the desk then also chimed in, "Yes Nathaniel, Clarence here is the Tin ranked Adventurer who will be accompanying you on your quest. And rest assured he is one of the best Adventurers in the Tin rank."

Clarence then proceeded to hand Nathaniel his Guild license with pride. And soon Nathaniel was able to see why.

It was incredibly rare to find individuals with such high stats. E was the average stat among normal humans. Elves are a race considered superior to humans and there typically stats were C. The stats rankings were broken up by letter grades with the lowest being F and the highest being A. There was also an additional grade S this grade was assigned to stats that exceeded the limits of the testing equipment at an Adventurers Guild.

Clarence possessed several above average stats for his race and even had an exceedingly rare A grade stat, additionally he had three skills. Skills were special abilities that individuals possessed. Some were common while others were one of one skills that could be used only by a specific person. These skills could be taught or handed down but Adventurers under the Iron rank rarely had skills.

After looking a while with Clarence getting the response he was looking for out of the young Nathaniel he took back his Guild license. "So what request did ya choose, let me see the Handbill."

After handing the quest he had chosen to Clarence Nathaniel simply smiled and looked expectantly "Should be pretty easy right just getting some honey."

Clarence's eye grew somewhat large before handing the request for the cheerful guild work and William to see. After three saw the quest they were all silent looking back and forth between each other and the handbill.

The quest was just as Nathaniel promised, it was to collect the honey of the gray breasted honey bee. The gray breasted honey bee was no ordinary bee. The venom it has causes intense pain described by many as a sharp radiating pain that soon spread through the entire body. Within minutes it begins causing hallucinations in its victims. And that is just from the sting of a single bee. Many will soon begin to swarm and become much more aggressive once a threat has been identified via the pheromones released from the intial sting. It takes only three such stings to kill normal grown men. With each hive containing upwards of 10,000 individuals it was considered a suicide mission for all but the most skilled or powerful Tin ranked Adventurers.

William, Clarence, and the now identified Guild worker Rachel looked to each other discussing in hushed voices that only they could hear.

"Is your son insane or just plain suicidal! This quest has been sitting on the board for over half a year now, and that's because no one in the Tin rank was crazy enough to take it." muttered Clarence

"Hey now I understand where you are coming from Clarence but this talk won't change anything. Once he has handed the handbill over to us it is the quest that must be taken." Rachel replied the cheery face now replaced with a more serious one.

"And what if I refuse to let him take this quest" William huffed out.

" Then he would have been deemed to fail the test and be forced to wait until his 20th birthday to reapply"

"This simply won't do, fine he can do it but if my son doesn't return to me in a reasonable state then there will be hell to pay Mr. Clarence." finished off in a most threatening tone.

"Wonderful" exclaimed Rachel as she quickly started typing the quest and testing information down. Clarence looked nervously at William before giving a shallow nod.

The three adults simply looked at the ignorant smile on the child's face and wondered about his immediate future.
