Upon reaching her uncle's house the first thing Minxi notices is the old English architecture of the mansion surrounded by lush evergreens and roses of different colors on either side of the road. The view was grand but screened wealth while excluding elegance.
As the car pulled up through the guarded gates and into the front of the mansion Butler Ming steps out of the car to open the door for her.
"Young Miss we're here"
One fair foot at a time she unhurriedly took her time to get out of the car. Then with a turn, she slowly, but leisurely walked to the front door and let herself into the house. As soon as she stepped into the place she was greeted by five maids.
In sync, they said, "Welcome Young Miss"
Minxi grunted "Mmm" as she walked past them to hug the middle-aged man in his early forties
"Uncle I missed you so much" exclaimed Minxi and she quickly walked up to him
"This brat, how dare you to say you miss this Uncle of your but never call. I thought you already found yourself a new family"
Minxi lived and cared for her Uncle Ru Feng she was both a niece and a daughter to her especially after his wife died during childbirth and only left him with one son who is hardly ever home.
Minxi knew her uncle wasn't made at her so she shamelessly started coaxing him. Minxi suddenly reached out her hand to hold onto his and rapped her arm into his as she put on a spoiled expression she started to speak with a pout to her lips.
"Uncle you know I love you the most how can you doubt my feeling for this family"
Uncle Ru was startled by her actions, but quickly got used to her spoiled ways and just helplessly signed at her tactics. he really could not beat this girl. So he smiled and asked her if she was hungry and started leading her toward the dining room.
When lunch was served Minxi noticed that they were all her favorite dishes so she ate in relish.
After eating Minxi asked where her cousin's brother was and Uncle Ru replied that he was on a business trip and will return after 3 days.
After she talking for a while she excused herself and went to her new room. The room was. The bedroom was furnished on a luxurious budget but it was full of more warmth than Minxi had seen in many years. On the back wall was a mural, a tree with every color of fall leaf imaginable and a few more besides. On the crude pine, the bed was a hand-embroidered orange cover. From every wall smiled black and white photographs of herself as a child with her mother, her Uncle and her cousin, Ru Meng. She had spent so much time living away, in different counties, cities, and houses that she had become unaccustomed to these little touches. Then a maid knocked and bustled in with a tray of sandwiches and cake, her face so excited but wearing the same smile she always reserved for her profession. It was going to be strange to be here again, but wonderful. A place to recover, to find her feet again and this was just the bedroom for it.
Minxi spent the night in sweet remembrance of her old life with the ones she loved in her sweet dreams. But for the ones living on the other side of the city the same could not be said for them.
On the other side of the city in the tallest building stood a man who was looking through documents while his back faced the floor to ceiling windows. The view as absolutely breathtaking but the man looked too engrossed into his work to notice the stunning view of the night city lights
Then suddenly a knock came through the other side of his glass door. Without lifting so much as an eyebrow he told the other person to come in.
"Boss, we got a report from the men you stationed at the airport she arrived"
The man who was once staring at his document slowly lifted his eyes to look at his subordinate. The news he just received was unexpected but sent a warm giddy feeling through his body speeding up the pounding sound of his heart rate.
'She was finally here' he thought
