Northern Borders of Human Country Bevrin, Sedalia
A high ranking official went inside the tent where Auros, the King of the Human Nation resides. The officer kneeled in front of him and reported the situation in battlefield.
"Your Highness, we are being slowly pushed back by the Demon army. What shall we do?"
The king stroke his beard and fell deep in thought for a few seconds. Silence filled the tent while the eyes of the ruler is closed. And then, with his eyes unshut, he spoke with resolve.
"Fall back, and let the Adventurers' Guild do its job."
The officer bowed and stood up. He hasten his steps towards the outside of the tent.
"Is this a good choice, Your Highness?"
Asked Duncan, the Duke sitting beside him at the table.
"You'll see."
Auros grinned as the sound of a horn reverbrated throughout the camp followed by war cries outside the tent.
=====
A few kilometers away from the camp is the Plains of Goren. This once green and lush field now became the battlefield filled with the smell of iron. Here and there, you'll hear the sound of metal clanging as the soldiers of Bevrin and demons clashed. And after a few minutes, the roaring sound of the horn echoes throughout the plains.
"Vanguards! It's time to fall back! Mages! Cover fire! Archers! Rush towards the mages and provide assistance!"
The 20-year-old human commander of the battalion, Arthur Yukuma, gave his orders to his units and they started to withdraw while defending at the same time against the enemies' attacks. Then a barrage of magic spells hit the demons and this lead to disorder in enemy ranks. This gave some time for the vanguards to retreat without disturbance. Then after the vanguards retreated completely, a hail of arrows rained upon the enemies finishing some of them.
"Good! Adventurers! It's your time to shine! Morina, go ahead."
Arthur looked beside him and saw a petite girl with a blood red hair, which he called Morina. As the Adventurers' Guild Master and representative, she nodded as a sign of confirmation.
"Got it. Show me that ranks of yours are really not just a bluff! Now let's storm the front, show them what we got!"
Morina's voice echoed throughout the place, and boosted the adventurers' morale. War cries were heard as the adventurers readied themselves. And then Morina gave the first commands.
"Mages! First Round of Magic Bombardment! Supports! Buff the vanguards! Archers! Explosive Arrow Bombardment!"
Magic of different scales and elements rained upon the Demon Army and was followed by the bombardment of Explosive Arrows. This combo took out the small fries in the enemy groups.
"Let's go boys! It's clean-up time! Charge!"
The vanguards entered the fray with astonishing speed and strength. The enemy is slowly losing this battle while their once superior numbers are dwindling down.
Demon King Castle, Demon Country Xeros
The battle in Goren Plains are being watched by the sole mastermind of the war, Current Demon King, Phoros. His spiky white hair and the horns on the sides of head really gave the impression of an atrocious being. He let out a yawn as he stared at the battle unfolding in the plains. After a few moments, he slumped on his throne.
"This is boring me out. It's not surprising that the humans are only barely able to fight back against one of the weakest waves of my demons. Oi, Garotte, do you have anything that can entertain me?"
The Demon Lord put his chin on his palm, and tilted his head to look at his trusted aide by his side.
"It seems you overestimated the humans, My Lord. Even though the pawns are the weakest, they are still summoned creatures."
Phoros waved his other hand in a disinterested manner.
"Yeah, yeah, I got it. But my world domination would be a bore and it would be a waste. I want to see their faces full of despair and agony."
"Don't worry, My Lord. It seems the our army in the Elf Country, Elise is about to conquer the state."
Garotte said as he skimmed through the papers he is holding.
"Anyway, My Lord."
"What is it?"
The Demon King played with his locks of hair trying to entertain himself.
"Do you know about the so called Heroes?"
Phoros turned his head towards Garotte and looked at him.
"Ah those, chosen ones? Am I right?"
"Yes, My Lord. More importantly, the Otherworlders."
Phoros' face was filled with disdain the instant he heard about the word Otherworlders. He can still remember the event when an Otherworlder killed his precious Elder Sister.
"Tch, what of those?"
His voice was mixed with scorn.
"My Lord, it seems the new batch of Otherworlders are gonna be chosen sooner or later. My best estimation is, as soon as 1 month."
Garotte fixed his glasses as he move his sights towards his boss.
"If seems that the Goddesses are getting restless about the world balance, My Lord. So that's why they are looking for excellent candidates for the role."
"Hmm, it seems that my elder sister was taken out by surpise, and that's why she died. Those puny heroes should know there place."
Phoros said as he grimaced.
"I have an idea, My Lord."
"What is it, Garotte? I hope that it will entertain me even for a moment."
"It will, My Lord. How about we study the summoning magic circle. My theory is, if we can reverse the magic circle, maybe we could invade the world where the heroes come from."
Garotte spoke in a inquisitive manner. The Demon Lord just chuckled and fixed his posture.
"You have my attention now, Garotte. I'm sure it will be fun, if we can conquer the other world. Well then Garotte, I give you my permission to investigate the Summoning Circle. Bring me good results, that is my command."
"Your wish shall be done, My Lord."
Garotte walked out of the throne room to start his mission, meanwhile Phoros grinned like a maniac. He spoked these words, only the wind could hear.
"Your world will be mine in the future, and you'll fall into despair. Hahahaha!!!!"
Crazed laughter filled the throne room after that.
