It was another school year, Lily was in her third year of high school. She wasn't particular attractive but she worked and studied really hard. She often get teased for being too quiet and introverted.
It was a Monday, a new transfer student named Brian came into Lily's class. He was already goodlooking during high school years so of course, he got lots of attention especially from other girls. He was the most popular guy in high school. He was tall and handsome.
Lily watched him from afar without talking to him. She admired him. She often looked away when Brian looked at her. Lily pretended she was doing her homework. Lily often eat lunch alone and was very quiet. Until, college changed her life.
Lily was still a teenager back then. Like many other girls, she had a crush on Brian. Brian usually liked to tease Lily and calling her, "Sweet Bun." Lily loved sweet buns and often eat them during lunch time. When Brian got the time, he often went to bakery shop to buy sweet buns for Lily. He liked to her smile when she sees her favorite sweet red bean bun. He looked at Lily's reaction and was happy when she liked it. He rubbed her hair and laughed. Brian was funny, popular, he never judge a person by looks, status... he likes a person when they are being themselves.
It was at the end of third year in high school when Brian went abroad to study. Lily felt disappointed because she couldn't see Brian again. She didn't know what to say at first but she waited until school was over.
Brian was walking home alone when Lily caught up to him. She tapped on Brian's shoulder.
"Brian... I... I...have something to say to you." Lily clutched onto her backpack. Brian waited.
"Go ahead. I'll listen." Brian replied.
"Are you ever coming back?" Lily asked.
"I don't know. It will be a long time." Brian answered
"Will you miss me?" Brian smiled brightly.
Lily nodded.
"Brian... Uhmm... I... like you." Lily confessed shyly.
"Like me? In what ways?" Brian asked curiously.
"I... just... like you." Lily replied.
Brian gave her a sweet red bean bun before he went. He messed up her hair and smiled.
"Lily, I'll tell you my answers when I come back for you. Wait for me. My dad is here. I got to go."
That was it. Brian went away for a long time. Lily waited for him but eventually gave up. After her parents passed away, her aunt and uncle took her in and moved away. She started her new life in college and she grew more confident in herself but she was still quite naive. She liked someone from her college named Marcus, a popular basketball player and he was very attractive but she ended up regretting it because he was just a damn jerk.

The ambulance arrived at hospital trauma centre. Brian was taken in to the operation room. Lily waited outside until operation was over. The doctor came out saying the operation was a success after 4 hours of surgery.
The doctor told her he needed rest. Lily went to do the paperwork. She called Rachel and explained the situation.
"Thank goodness, you're safe. How's Brian?" Lily told her he just needed more rest to recover.
"If Daniel needs anything from me, tell him I'm off work and let me know what he wants when we meet. Okay?" Rachel agreed and she hung up.

"Daniel, did you hear about CEO Brian had an accident?" Ray told him, "Lily was on the scene too." Daniel immediately got up and looked at the news article.
"Why didn't you tell me earlier?! Get me the car." Ray hurried downstairs and Jeffrey started the car.
"Boss, let's go." They rushed to the hospital and Daniel was biting his lips.
"Boss, Lily will be alright." Jeffrey said. Daniel was being cold again and didn't say any words. Jeffrey and Ray looked at each other and sighed.
Lily went back to Brian's VIP room and watched over him. She was grateful Brian protected her. She got no scratches on her thankfully. The doctor said Brian should wake up soon. He warned Lily that Brian might feel pain in the abdomen after surgery. Tonight is the critical stage. Brian opened his eyes and Lily was beside him. He was about to say something so she leaned in.
"Are you hurt?" He whispered. Lily shook her head.
"I'm not hurt. You got hurt more. The doctor said you need more rest." Brian nodded and reached out for Lily, "Lily..." Lily held his hand and replied, "I'll answer your question after you get better." Brian held her hand tighter.
"Lily... can I call you sweet bun again?" Brian smiled.
"Sure."
Lily watched as Brian fell asleep.
Suddenly, the door opened. Lily stood up in shock. Daniel came into the room and grabbed Lily by the hand.
"Daniel, what are you doing here?" Daniel brought Lily outside the room.
"Daniel, let go. Talk to me." Daniel released his hand and turned to Lily, "I was afraid." He embraced Lily.
"Please be careful. I don't want you getting hurt." Daniel told her as he hugged her tightly.
"I'm okay. I'm not hurt." Lily replied. Daniel released her and took her hand.
"What do you mean you weren't hurt! Look at your hand. It's bleeding!" Daniel shouted at her and took her to a nurse asking them to bandage her.
"Don't get hurt in front of me." Daniel said calmly. Lily was shocked to see this side of Daniel.
"I won't." Lily looked away.
After the nurse finished bandaging her, Daniel took her back into the room. Ray stood outside with bags on his hand.
"These are for you and this is for Brian. You haven't eaten yet. I asked Ray to get you some hot soup, cooked rice and vegetable. Make sure to eat them. You need energy to take care of patients." Lily bowed and thanked them.
Before Daniel left, he held Lily by the wrist. Lily waited for him to talk.
"What is it?" She asked.
"Your hands are cold. Take my jacket." Daniel took off his jacket and covered Lily's shoulder.
"Don't get sick. You are a doctor. Take care of yourself." Lily nodded and locked the door behind her.
Ray looked at Daniel and then to Jeffrey who pretended not seeing anything.
"Daniel, is this really okay?" Ray asked while being prepared for Daniel to yell back.
"Do I look okay to you?" Daniel replied.
"Sorry, I'm saying too much." Ray apologized.
"It's fine. Lily needed more time. After I deal with Elizabeth... I will get Lily back, she's my woman." Daniel walked in front of them and ignored his female fans in the hospital.
Lily sat down on the chair and tried to process everything that was happening. It was too much for one day. She opened up the soup bowl and started to eat dinner. Daniel knew what kind of soup and rice she likes. Lily gently smiled and ate the rest of her dinner.
