Chapter 52 - An escape from reality

'It's finally set up,' Apollo stood up from the ground and looked at his creation with a bright smile on his face. What he built seemed like something from a sci-fi movie. It looked like a coffin but more 'cooler' with a white and blue paintjob and a round glass window that could be opened.

The restaurant was closed due to this reason. Apollo planned to play in a full-dive virtual reality game instead of playing on a computer to satisfy himself. While reading novels, he gained the habit of fantasizing himself as the main character. This is unbecoming of a being like himself, but selling dishes everyday is rather 'boring', and he can't really abuse his powers either, so he decided to play in VR instead, where his powers are limited to the pre-planned stats that the developer had set.

Apollo is currently at the basement of the restaurant, if not for his all seeing eye, he wouldn't have even know that there was a basement. The basement wasn't really a 'basement' per se as it was packed with all sorts of canned food and water, presumably a bunker the previous owner had set-up if a calamity arrived.

He had already stored all of those things in his inventory to make space for his full-dive rig. 'Now what do I play?' he scrolled down the transparent, blue interface trying to find games suitable for said VR machine. There were many reasons that Apollo chose such a huge machine just for playing, although he could just buy headphones that he could connect to his phone, having a huge machine like this has its benefits missing from the headphones.

For one, the machine could sustain his body with supplements for longer periods of game time, he doesn't need it, but he was paranoid. Secondly, the headphones could only give Apollo 80% synchronization rate when playing, the comparison between the headphones and the Gaming Cabin which has 100% synchronization rate is like heaven and earth. There is also the problem of games, as Apollo only needs single player games, he only needs to put a memory stick to the Gaming Cabin. As for the headphones, the games are still non-existent, it would take civilization over two-hundred thousand years to make one.

As he was scrolling, a certain game piqued his interest. 'A New Beginning,' was the title. The title itself is eye catching to him since Apollo needs 'a new beginning'. Reading the synopsis, he got more intrigued. The plot of the game is as the title says, a new beginning. It starts you off as a teenager born into modern society as the first son from a rich family, although you start as a teenager, the memories from when you were born to the present teenager you would be immediately transferred via the wires connected to the user's head.

After he finished reading the synopsis, he clicked the 'X' button on the top left and continued to scroll down. The only reason he clicked is because of the title. The game was basically a game that would serve as a 'second-life' without any benefits to the player at all except to fulfill the user's desire to have a rich life. A wish-fulfilling game so to speak.

What he wanted in a game is a second life, to escape his current one. Not that his current life is bad, it was just that it was 'boring'. The memories of Li Feng slowly numbed his sense of 'joy' as Li Feng had already experience everything. Apollo only wanted to replicate that feeling again, the feeling of excitement in every battle, the feeling of joy when he beats a strong enemy. He was a being that could destroy anything with just a snap of his finger, he could obtain anything and everything he wants just by calling Atlas. The downside to that is life wouldn't be as enjoyable. To escape his mundane life, he resorted to games.

Finally, after scrolling for a full ten minutes, he found a game to his liking. Although he could filter what genre of games would be shown, he isn't that proficient in game-terms such as 'FPS, MOBA, RPG, etc' so he took that long to find one. It was a game called [Heroes and Fate], the game's setting is in a fantasy like world much like other RPG games. Like the title says, it it about three heroes that met by fate. The main character, Lunox Rhynhart, and along with his buddies, Saphir Lancaster, Aravis Emsworth, they set on a journey to find the one responsible for Lunox's banishment from the kingdom of Aseoron.

Like any game that is set in a fantasy world, [Heroes and Fate] also has swords, magic, skills, and levels. Apollo quickly bought the game and inserted it to the Game Cabin. After doing all the preparations like inserting an energy cube for power and some food supplements that would feed his body while he enjoys the game. Apollo doesn't need food to survive because he feeds on the energy he cultivates, but what he was anxious of is his body. There was a saying he saw on the internet, 'Better be safe then sorry'.

...

"Why isn't he picking up?" Levi anxiously called Apollo because he was worried of Val's situation. Val isn't the type to abruptly end the call while in the middle of a conversation, Levi knew that because of their frequent interactions while he was still in the US.

Suddenly, he thought up of a solution. He called a friend of his and gave him the number with the order of locating where the number currently is. Being an underworld lord also has it's benefits, and that is having contacts. A reply quickly arrived, without hesitation, he contacted the eagle he named Aquilla and sent it to deal with the problem as he was still in Hong Kong.

"Ha!? You dare order me?" Aquilla haughtily replied with a mocking voice, "If not for the Supreme Being's orders, I wouldn't even think of making a blood pact with you!"

The two made a blood pact per Apollo's request, it was only now that Levi knew that Aquilla's attitude since Aquilla would usually be hanging out with Aurora. Though, his attitude may be influenced by Aurora. The corners of Levi's eye twitched, annoyed at the eagle he named so 'cooly', if he had known Aquilla had this sort of attitude, he would have named it 'Dipshit' or 'Birdbrain'.

"If you don't follow my orders, I wouldn't hesitate to call the boss to eradicate you," Levi's voice became cold as ice.

"Y-You dare!" Aquilla's voice quiverred, he only replied that way because Aurora told him to be more domineering when talking to not taint the Supreme Being's title, "A mere human dares to threaten m-" Aquilla suddenly paused.

After a few seconds of silence, Aquilla continued, "What does this handsome master wants this servant to do?" All of a sudden, Aquilla's attitude turned a full 180, he became more respectful to Levi.

"Go to Paddington road, you will see a large building there named North Enterprises, your mission is to find a woman named Val and bring her back."

"As you wish,"

Levi breath a deep sigh of relief, Val is a valuable asset to the company. The only one she is comparable to is the legendary 'Rose', if given time, she could become someone as powerful as Rose. Though, there wasn't much information about the woman, but one thing is for sure, her strength. There was a rumour that was spread in the underworld about ten years ago, it was about the two legendary figures that shook the world. One was an excellent assassin, and one was the ruler of the underworld.

The two were unstoppable, without even lifting her hand, one hundred peak earth rank martial artists died. The most mysterious one is the man that was the previous ruler of the underworld. Throughout his ruling, he had never revealed his true power, or even his face for that matter. But after a sect had thoughts of taking Rose for her body physique, the sect was annihilated the day after mysterious figure got the information.

The sect wasn't some small time sect, it was a high ranking sect located deep in the antarctic. It was said that the sect was filled with thousands of Qi Strength Masters, but because they provoked the man that was presumably Rose's husband or Master, their sect was destroyed, leaving no one alive. After that, the two mysteriously disappeared leaving behind their legacy, and Levi was declared as the new ruler not long after.
