Chapter 7 - Outfits and doubts.

[Higher Council Palace]

"279, we assume you're aware of the reasoning behind your summoning?"

"Yes, my liege."

"We trust you will bring us 756 and the boy without delay."

"I will not disappoint you."

[Earth]

We went back home after school to prepare for 279's arrival. Shirou wanted me to try out his outfit design so that's where we started with our preparation for the fight which we didn't know when it would happen. We were in my room and Shirou held his book in front of me and told me to try his design.

"All you have to do is concentrate on what you want to do, in this case, changing your clothes into what you want and to do that you need to imagine yourself wearing it and concentrate on creating it." explained Mayumi.

"All right, here goes nothing." I replied.

I closed my eyes and tried to imagine myself wearing the outfit that Shirou had designed while activating my powers. I concentrated on it and a sensation came upon me like when I formed my weapons that day, I opened my eyes and my clothes turned into the outfit that was drawn in Shirou's book.

A grey T shirt tucked into grey trousers with a black iron plate covering my chest, above that, a black trench coat ending at my calves with a single red stripe running down the shoulders to the end of the sleeve of the coat which was lined in black as was the opening that started at the end of the collar all the way down to the end of the coat. Another red stripe around the waist of the coat and ran all the way down making a 'T' shape at the front of both sides of the coat. Iron guards that shielded my shins and knees, boots underneath with iron soles and tips and Grey gloves that covered half my fingers with my knuckles covered with a black iron slightly spiked in the shape of a diamonds.

The excitement was clear in Shirou's eyes, as if he were to almost explode with joy and pride at how good his design looked. I took a look in the mirror and saw what the finished outcome looked like. I was more than satisfied, a smile came across my face and my eyes showed almost the same amount of excitement Shirou's did. I looked over at Mayumi who was also smiling and nodded as if to approve of the outfit.

"It's absolutely amazing!" exclaimed Shirou who had literal hearts in his eyes at this point.

"It looks more badass than I thought it would, I'm proud of you!" I replied to him with a smile.

"You look completely different from any other male protector or god, they usually go for bulky armor or something a lot more complicated but this looks perfect on you." said Mayumi while smiling as well.

"But now we need to start training, you're strong but you don't know how to exactly use your power, 279 won't hesitate to kill you or me like I did." she followed with a quick change in expression to being serious. I nodded at her but suddenly a thought crossed my mind…why was I given these powers? What if I'm not good enough for this? To protect her and keep my promise?

"We take the day off school tomorrow and start training, don't worry about being absent, I'll take care of that." she said while winking. She looked over at me and realized something was going through my mind but didn't ask me what it was just then.

*YAWN* "Well, Imma head out then, see ya'll tomorrow!" said Shirou as he picked up his bag and left.

"I'll let you out." said Mayumi and they both left the room while I sat on the bed and started contemplating about everything that had happened so far and tried to come up with a reason as to why all of it happened.

A few hours had passed and it was almost midnight, Mayumi knocked on my door but I didn't respond because I didn't feel like talking but she let herself in anyway. I was still seated on my bed, still thinking. I didn't raise my head to look at her until she spoke.

"What's wrong?" she asked with a worried look on her face.

I looked up at her and said "Why was I the one to get these powers? What if I'm not good enough?". At this point tears started to fill my eyes and run down my face. "I promised to help and protect you and I don't want to break that promise! I-". She climbed onto the bed and held my head to her chest before I could finish.

The anxiousness had left, the cold feeling of not being good enough was no longer weighing me down even though she hadn't said anything yet, instead a warm feeling overcame me, as if she was the one protecting me.

"It's your power, it was given to you but you made it your own. I will protect you too, I will help you become stronger, I will be by your side all the way, through anything." She said in a calming voice which made the tears start to fade away. I felt safe when she held me and I wanted to make sure I can make her feel the same way some day too.
