The sky was already bright. The cheerfulness of the palace sounded like melodies as the children slept. Light came through the giant glass windows, lighting the whole room. Chess pieces and cards were all over the the marble floor, glimmering in the light. The children slept in the elegant bed in irregular positions. Kira was cuddling her fluffy four-tailed fox, Fuffy, and Kishi was sleeping beside her. Airi was rolled in like ball sucking his thumb like a baby. Rex was snoring loudly, and Lune lay flat with his belly over the book he was reading. The bed was still too big, even with the five of them. But at this moment, and only in this moment. One could clearly see that they are children. Young as they were, no one would imagine that these cute little children, have gone through more than normal adults would have.
Airi opened his eyes and rubbed it with the back of his hand. He sat up and looked around and realized he was the first one to awake. He yawned, then he was in deep thought. He still can't understand how he would find the truth just by staying at this place, yet he also wondered why he was so eager to know it anyway. Knowing that this so-called truth does not sound like good news, and the fact that this truth barely has anything to do with him. But his movements seemed to have awoken Lune who was sleeping not far from him.
"Good morning" Airi said to him
"Oh, good morning" he said in return
"Did I wake you?"
"No, don't worry about it"
Rex groaned a little then quickly sat up. He looked around hastily then sighed when he realized it was just a dream. He yawned and stretched himself while greeting them good morning.
"Had a nightmare?" Lune asked in concern
"Nah...just a stupid dream"
There was silence since they had no idea what to talk about, but was broken off by Kira's sleep taking.
"Nisan....don't leave me"
"How cute" said Rex
"She's been smiling a lot lately, it's hard to imagine the two of them have been separated for four long years" Airi sighed
"Yeah...no wonder they have trouble sleeping" Rex lay down again "I wouldn't be surprised if they--"
Kira sat up, then slept back again, but now over her brother treating him like a pillow.
"Kira get off me" Kishi groaned
"five more minutes..." She replied
Kishi turned over, only to see that the others were all staring at them.
"You woke up too early" He told them
"But its already sunrise Kishi" said Airi
"No that's magic. The light which you see are only magnification of dawn."
"Er...it is?"
"I reckon this place have high mana levels" Rex said sitting up again
"This won't be called the Palace of Magic if it isn't" Lune said
"I suppose..."
"Urgh! You guys are too noisy!"
Kira finally arouse. She cuddled Fuffy, who is once again a cuddly toy, then started pouting.
"Had a good sleep?" Kishi asked her sitting up and leaning in the pillows
"Usual nightmares..."
"You haven't got any nightmares for four years"
"Yeah whatever!"
"What's with the attitude!" The two of them argued, forgetting that Rex, Airi, and Lune was even there.
Kishi did not receive any answer. The next thing that occurred to him was that Kira had turned away from anyone's eye sight, then he heard sniffling coming from her. She was crying
Kishi suddenly realized that he had done wrong. Having nightmares is not something that the two of them usually had, and if they do, it's something that involves either of them. Kira was crying about it, and that nightmare she was crying about has something to do with him.
The room was silent. Kira's sobbing amplified as it echoed. The noise outside was far too distant, that it was barely heard. The boys dare not approach her.
"Sorry...." Kishi apologized, "What's it about--"
Kira suddenly moved closer to him, burying her face in his chest, still hugging Fuffy tightly with her left, and clutching her brother's clothes with the other. Kishi embraced her, and patted her head.
Kira was crushed to the very heart. Ever since four years ago, she had never slept. But even so, she feared having nightmares, as much as she feared what happened. She might not know why, but she feared it. Now she had one.
She was there, surrounded with blood, surrounded with corpses, both humans and other creatures. Confused, she looked around. The place was dark, and the lake of blood and the mountain of corpses, are the only thing she could see. She looked down, only to see that the tips of her hair are soaked in blood, and her hand covered in it. Her heart throbbed painfully, she was scared and seeks companion. She knew there's no one else who could give her aid except for her brother. She called for him again and again, but no one answered. Extremely terrified, her shaking grew stronger. She was alone again; he had left her.
When she woke up, she tried to put that dream at the back of her head, but it was useless. She cannot just forget it.
She cried loudly in his arms. She may have denied this before, but she does not want to ever let go of him. Kishi tried his best to comfort her, but his efforts were useless.
"What kind of dream do you--" Rex tried to ask, but was instantly shushed by Airi and Lune
Kishi tried to smile, but he can't help but frown. The very thought of having a nightmare is something he wants to avoid having ever in his life, for it always happened and came true. Right now, his twin sister was crying to him because of a terrible nightmare. If his could come true, then that also means it's the same to her. They're one of the same after all.
