"Who goes there?!"
The man walked towards us and gave us no chance to run away. In what he said, several others walked cautiously towards us. I closed my eyes, because of the bright light when he moved away the grass that was hiding the four of us. Their bewildered looks scared me. Why would they look at us like that? We aren't monsters, are we?
They grabbed us all and took us where everyone would see. I was really scared. Why are these guys treating us like this? Were only children you know...
Added to all the pressure, Lune started sniffling then begun crying loudly. Rex who was shacking so terribly, slumped hard on the floor, then cried as much as Lune did. My heart begun to sank, I felt like crying. For a short moment, I tried hard not to break into tears, but I failed to do so, and cried hard like the two of them
These stupid idiots
"Hey....s-s-stop c-crying.....your m-making me c-cry t-to..." I sobbed wiping my tears with the back of my hand, which proved useless since I was crying so much its unstoppable
A guy who looked more prominent than the rest emerged from the mass of soldiers who is moving out of the way for him. He only looked at us for a second, then the guy who caught us spoke
"General, I found these children lurking around--"
"Kill them. They might be spies" He ordered him without mercy
"B-but sir! What if they're nobles? We can't just--" he argued quickly
"Haven't you heard me?"
"Yes, I have. But--"
"Then do as I say"
"But--"
"Even if their heirs of whatever family they came from, their parents are solely responsible for whatever happened to their brats, while letting them wander around carelessly in the woods. And another thing, were not even sure whether their spies or not. I do remember telling you not to under estimate the young, now have I? Now do as you were told!"
"Yes sir!" The majority of soldiers said together
They all pointed their spears towards us, that made us cry even harder. Weirdly, Airi didn't even flinch. He just stood there, emotionless as ever. He walked forward and reached his hand out to touch one of the spears of a shacking soldier, when an arrow flew fast between his reached-out hand, and the spear. We all looked up to see where the arrow came from, and was surprised to see that not just one, but many of them where pointing their arrows to us from high towers.
What a pointless life, to die after being born only four years ago...
"FIRE!!"
Thousands of arrows flew towards us. In my opinion, they're all brutal. Why in hell, do they even think a group of three to four years old children would be spies. And why do they have to kill us, don't they have mercy?! And another thing, just why the hell, are they killing us in this sort of way?! I mean, pointing a bunch of spheres, and now thousands of arrows!! Dudes!! Were only children!!! And there's only four of us!! Unlike you people who are fighting four defenseless children over a hundred or even thousands of armed soldiers!! This is injustice!!
In a second, I thought were actually goners. But when I opened my eyes, all the arrows that flew towards us were lying on the ground, vertically cut in half. And all the soldiers who were surrounding us were all dead. Their blood splattered all over, and their corpses almost unrecognizable.
Lune, Rex and I stopped crying in shock. We looked around, and saw that Airi was now trembling, looking at his blood covered hands. The soldiers who saw everything was now panicking. The archers stretched their bows once again and shot another thousand of arrows towards us.
Meanwhile, Neon was running around the mansion, realizing that Airi was gone, and three other children had disappeared. The door slammed when she opened it. Few people were in it, looking at her with surprise. She ran to the closest man to the door, utterly bewildered, as he held her for support
"James! The children--The children t-they're gone!!" She said panting really hard
"Dear Neon, calm down. Don't worry I'll find them. Now you stay here while I'm gone, okay?" He sat her on a nearby chair and disappeared on thin air. Everyone looked at her with puzzled faces.
James was now running fast in the forest, in a form of a lion. He was thinking, where could he find the children? He was shocked to realize that the army of the council was nearby. What's more, he felt a great surge of magic, a magic which he was familiar with. He convinced himself that the children were safe, yet something really bad has occurred.
I was really confused on what's going on. We were miraculously saved earlier, but another blow is coming. It came really fast, but then a flash of light appeared, then it was all gone. I looked around hastily to find out what happened next, and Uncle James was now standing in front of Airi looking at the soldiers with a threatening look.
"Who are you?" The one they call general asked him "Are they your children? That brat behind you killed my men, how do you suppose he'll pay for it?!
Although I can't really see it, I know Uncle James smirked in what he just said
"You asked who I am, and my answer is simple. I am a pink rose. However, these children aren't mine and only one them is," he said placing his hand on Airi's head "They're from my friends, the Sweets, Dandelion, and Trees."
The soldiers quivered in his statement. I don't really know why, but maybe it's because they heard names of greatness. I've always been told we stood higher than most.
"I see...again, your brat has killed twenty of my armed men, on his own. I dare say that brat is dangerous, and he disobeyed the law--"
"There is no law in this world. The weak bows down to the strong, and I believe, that its only right for you to kneel down to this boy, for he..." he gave them another nasty smile "Killed you on his own, which proves him stronger. What's more, if it would be I against all of you, I 'am quite positive I'll still win. I advise you, be careful in who speak to."
The soldiers are obviously scared, but their so-called general didn't give any hint of fear. Uncle finally looked at us, and I noticed that his eyes were like a galaxy, gleaming bright with the symbol of the zodiac lion. But it disappeared quickly and turned to its normal pink, like all the other roses. He knelt down to Airi and gave him a comforting smile.
"Do not fear what happened this day, Airi. It's only a proof that you were strong. You are not a murderer, for death is insignificant. I assure you that you are loved even after all that happened, so don't let this be a shock to you. Do you understand?"
Airi nodded without a word, and then wrapped his arms around his fathers' neck, who embraced him in return. Uncle lifted him off the ground, then beamed at us. I felt really guilty at that time.
"Did you have fun in your little adventure?"
Uncle, how could you be so mean? I'm already guilty as it is, but why is he only smiling? I believe it would be better if he started scolding at us.
"Very well, let us bring you home"
He teleported us back in the guild. Learning to teleport sure is convenient. But you can't use it all the time. I bet Uncle searched for us on foot since, doing that proves more better then teleporting.
Our parents quickly hugged us, and we began crying again. I was all my fault and I even dragged Rex, Airi, and Lune to all of this so I'm really hoping for some scolding, but mommy never gave me one
"Oh, Sugar darling, do you even know how worried I 'am. Don't do that again, okay? Mommy would be sad if you did" she sobbed
To be honest, I bet she just kept herself from saying what if I die. They always say to us that death is insignificant in this world. It maybe if you're the killer, but not if you're the victim yourself, or the people who cared for someone who just died. In my young age, I already understood that much, and I bet most of us do.
