Chereads / Immortal Duan Cai / Chapter 32 - Chapter 31

Chapter 32 - Chapter 31

"Duan Cai, who the hell let you in here?" A voice called out to him in what sounded like complete and utter annoyance from the mere sight of him.

As Duan Cai turned his head to see who was speaking to him he held not a care in the world towards the ignorance of whoever it was, but simply a curiosity to see who the ant was that was willing to speak to him in such a tone. His eyes ended up connected with those of Loris, the elder brother of Lester, who looked like he wanted to personally throw him out of The Sunny Wolf. A smile slowly formed on his face at the way the man was glaring at him. The entire bar was ingolfed in silence at how brave they felt Loris was for speaking up about someone that Felix personally had greeted and served. Was this man looking to dig his own grave? The look of killing intent was obvious just from the glare that Felix was sending across the place at Loris, but to their surprise the bartender was simply refraining from acting. He was even still hiding his aura as if he had no intent on stepping in.

"How is your brother doing?" Duan Cai simply asked as if he planned on avoiding the whole question on how he got into the bar.

"Don't just change the subject like that you bastard!" Loris slammed his hand down on the table in between Duan Cai and Leon causing Leon to grit his teeth to refrain from punching the man.

"Why must you speak in such a manner? Even your brother holds me in such higher regards~" Duan Cai teased him with a smile on his face as if to mock every fiber of the man's standards.

"You bastard-" Loris found himself cut off before he could continue speaking.

"Wait, wait... I apologize.." Duan Cai started to slowly speak in a calm manner as if he was getting serious. Though his mind was in a very different place than what Loris was thinking at the moment.

"Oh?" Loris got curious for a moment at what Duan Cai could possibly be apologizing for.

"Yes, I apologize.. I suppose I did send him home rather.. early this morning~" Duan Cai smirked brightly with an innocent smile that could cause one to feel like they were seeing flowers around him.

A dark shadow seemed to cast over Loris's face as the entire bar started snickering and blushing at what Duan Cai had so boldly blurted out in front of everyone without a care in the world. Leon who knew that nothing actually happened at all between Duan Cai and Lester last night even choked on his whisky as he grabbed the table to stable himself in the situation. Felix who was standing behind the bar counter was so caught off guard he even dropped a glass that shattered at his feet. Nobody that knew Duan Cai was sure which direction the man even went so hearing him make such a joke easily caught Leon and Felix off guard who knew that Duan Cai had never shown and interest in anyone. It made the idea cross their mind for a moment; did he really have such an interest in Lester?

Little did they know that Duan Cai had no interest in that way towards any living person around him at all. At least he had no comprehension towards such feelings. Emotions were knew to him and so he had yet to actually desire another, but there was one feeling he had at the moment. Complete and utter joy at watching Loris's distorted expression at the thought of him putting a claim on his brother so publicly.

"Shameless.. Bastard.." Loris muttered while his whole body shook from nerves. A sudden desire to punch Duan Cai where he sat started to rise in him. He did not care how highly his younger brother saw the man in front of him because at the moment he felt so many emotions along side his anger that made it hard to hold himself back. If he made a scene he knew it would make himself look bad, but he started to wonder how much that mattered to him in that moment.

"Loris, you are an insect in my eyes and you know that very well. If it was not for my respect for your brother, Lester, do you really think I'd willingly listen to you repeatedly call me that? Do you not fear death you ant?"

There was a deep bellowing growl emitting from Duan Cai's throat as he spoke to Loris. The once golden eyes of Duan Cai had a spark of killing intent that was aiming straight at Loris causing a cold shudder down his spine straight to his core. His entire body felt like he had been dropped into a tub of ice. As he stood there trying to look him in the eyes he found it hard to keep contact. It was like every fiber of his being was screaming at him that a predator was about to kill him. It was like he was cowering in front of a godly beast that wanted nothing more than to squash him like a pest.

"I.. I cant.." Loris was finding it difficult to breath. It felt like the air around him was being cut off from him. His eyes continued to try and look at Duan Cai, but all he could see was the figure of Duan Cai sitting peacefully in his seat with a smile on his face as if he wasn't putting an ounce of effort towards harming him at all. Just how deep was Duan Cai's ability that he could merely suffocate a man with a casual smile? Loris felt a sudden fear towards the man rise in him at that thought.

The pressure around Loris slowly receded to normal as he heaved for air. His eyes shaking in fear as he quickly turned to remove himself from the sight of Duan Cai as quickly as possible. There was no further second he wanted to waste standing in front of him in fear that he might actually drop dead without anyone being able to do a thing about it.

"Leaving already? I thought you were here to chat with me. Have a seat with us here, Loris." Duan Cai slowly spoke up causing Loris to pause in his escape with a sudden shudder at being caught.

Have a seat with you? Do I want to sign my death warrant?! Loris screamed internally at the man for trying to reel him in like a fish. There was no way he could refuse Duan Cai without admitting that he feared the man that his younger brother put in such high regards.

"Very well.." Loris responded to him as he slowly walked back to them and sat down at the table between the two of them. On the outside he looked calm and relaxed, but internally his instincts were all screaming to flee as quickly as possible.
