Chapter 4 - Being Someone's Bodyguard, hm

Ivy woke up in a strange room, was she in a royal bedroom? Ivy wondered how she got here before remembering she must have passed out by exerting her body a little bit too hard. Especially with the corrupted mana attack. She moved around and was surprised that what she was surrounded was a soft blanket.

("When was the last time I was in bed?") Ivy asked herself; she removed the covers of the bed before feeling a sharp pain in her left arms. Ivy cradled her arm and looked at her surroundings. ("Who the hell would give me this? The fuck was wrong with them?")

Ivy got out of the luxurious bed before checking out the room. There were a few cameras but nothing suspicious. But that didn't stop Ivy from looking around and making sure there weren't any traps or people ready to ambush her and rape her.

The walls were covered in shiny white and streaks of gold lines running up and down, then Ivy noticed that the bed she was in was a size for a full family of five. ("Rich people... seriously have way too much time on their hands") Ivy glared at the bed.

The room was covered in a rug of bright crimson rose with rose petals scattered around, there was a wardrobe, a table with mini shelves of books on them. There was even a lamp and chandelier in the room, plenty of lighting in the room.

Ivy didn't notice at first, but Omega didn't seem to appear next to her. Did they remove Omega from her already? If so, shouldn't she be feeling a lot of pain in her neck?

Just as she was thinking about Omega, it suddenly appeared in a black sphere form than it usually odd disoriented shape.

("Any ideas?") Ivy asked Omega in her mind.

"Well, we're captured, but this seems weird for a prison. Are we...on a death sentence?" for the first time, Omega had no idea what to do. It was a strange environment in which it has been in, and this was a situation where it has simulated countless times, but it never reproduced this.

"You're awake, good, I was hoping my punches didn't kill you," a familiar voice was heard nearby. Ivy immediately recognized the voice as the girl she saved from early. Ivy tried to find where exactly the voice was only to see a girl standing at a doorway. In what seemed to be a military outfit with a massive rip around her right side of her stomach, besides the uniform being covered in dirt and dust, the girl was pretty.

"Your voice...I know you," Ivy spoke quietly as her vocals barely rubbed off each other; her voice was deep and very husky. "You're the one I saved."

Ruby smiled, at least they remembered her. But who wouldn't remember such a cute and strong woman? (I dunno!). She moved towards Ivy and touched Ivy's damaged left arm. Although it was damaged, it still was able to function somewhat normally.

"It's you again," Omega spoke. It knew that Ivy tried to talk, but no words were coming out like there was an invisible barrier preventing her from speaking. "Sorry for her, she...had a rough encounter with some people."

"Yup, it's me. Sorry about beating you up, but well, you are infamous around these parts, especially this kingdom," Ruby said as she sat down on the bed, patting down next to her. She looked at Ivy and was briefly stunned by her features. Although Ruby checked them during their skirmished, Ivy's chest was surprisingly big for someone who could be very agile, and her eyes were captivating. They were yellow like two small moons, and it looked as if they could change color and if that wasn't enough light on them, plus her brunette hair was incredible.

Ivy grunted before sitting a few inches away from Ruby. She was very wry about being near the person who beat her up. Not that she had was troubled being beaten but was more skeptical about her current situation.

"What's your name?" Ruby asked in a gentle tone.

("She...she seriously asked my name in a situation like this?! I think I might just take a nap already, get this life over with,") Ivy said, already tired enough and stress from all of this new information coming at her like a bullet train. Is this the same kingdom that wanted to hunt her down?!

"I..Ihh...I-Iv-vy," though it took a bit, Ivy was able to say her name without Omega's help. Her voice wasn't lovely to say, but she didn't really care about compliments on her voice. Ivy just wanted her voice to be fixed.

"Ivy? That's a beautiful name," Ruby complemented.

Ivy looked away from the girl and stared at the window of the outside. It was a beautiful sunny day, it must be spring or summer for weather like this to happen. ("Last chance to enjoy this type of weather,") Ivy thought to herself, contemplating whether she should try and run away.

Seeing the girl act in a melancholy way, Ruby decided to break the odd atmosphere circulating between them. "Anyways, since you probably assumed, you would be executed by the king--."

"We already assumed that, Daughter of the Lumina Kingdom," Omega interrupted Ruby's apparent words. Though it didn't have emotion, that didn't mean that it couldn't express it in words. And right now, it was obviously irritated by Ruby's words.

("So she's the daughter, huh. So she's the daughter of that bastard king, heh. I wonder what she'll do next. Taking my AI would definitely be on top of her list,") Ivy talked to herself. She observed Ruby's features, facial expression while Omega spoke to her. Ruby was an oddity to say, unlike most folks who would most likely stand behind protection barriers, one-way glass. Ruby is risking her life to talk with her. ("Interesting person I've met in awhile.")

"Haha! Yes! I won again, hehe," Ruby exclaimed as she and Omega were currently playing tic-tac-toe. She has beaten it two times now, and if she is lucky, maybe a third and win their deal.

Ivy looked back at the youthful girl, questioning if Ivy was older or younger than her. Setting aside the stupid question, Ivy watched as the two played. Knowing Omega, it would be lucky enough to even win one game.

Seeing Ivy's gaze, Ruby looked at her and smiled brightly, a genuine smile too. She turned her attention back to Omega as she said her next move. ("She isn't that bad looking, besides the scarring on her body. I wonder how she got those.")

"Hehe, looks like I won again!" Ruby smiled in victory. She looks at the gray sphere and could almost sense Omega's frustration. Ivy exhaled a quick laugh before stretching and detached her arm, she placed it on the side and sighing.

Ruby could sense some wavering in Ivy's aura, it was odd. Though she couldn't actually see Ivy's aura, there was something off inside her body. Keeping the suspiciousness in the back of her mind, Ruby started talking, "I asked a few of my superiors about having you in the ranks of a secret military organization. Just a few other people, but you need to attend a certain school. I just need to convince my father."

Ivy chuckled a little as she heard the girl's foolish words. She looked over her shoulder and responded, "And what do I get out of this? There's always a catch whenever there's a deal."

Ruby smiled again; she knew that Ivy would see through her facade. She spoke again, and it surprised Ivy a bit, "I want you to act like a bodyguard. I kinda made a reputation for disbanding and hunting mercenaries, but it seems like the tides have turned on me. Just prevent people from trying to kill the royal family and me."

Ivy closed her eyes, she couldn't believe what this girl was thinking. But she doesn't have much of a choice. Ivy crawled up to the pillows and fell asleep. Not even going the girl a response.
