Lyana Debaux's POV
I was working all around the mansion as I was sweeping in different rooms as I was dusting the furniture and opened the curtains. It was morning now before I was stocking the fire and I was sighing. I haven't seen Edmond yesterday as the housekeeper was telling me what to do.
I have to make sure that today, I will have a chance to talk to Edmond.
"Maid, it's time to go to His Lordship's chamber," Bastien said as I was turning to look at him. The butler was as immaculate as he was. I sighed. If I haven't been learning that the women of this era were not rebellious as I would be in the present time, I would have glared at him or something.
It seems that Bastien has a keen eye on my backside.
I nodded at him before I was gathering my skirt and I was walking toward the chamber where His Lordship sleeps. I was looking at the portraits that were hanging on the wall before I was looking at a familiar face.
"Edmond?" I mumbled before I was hearing the clearing of the throat behind me before I was walking faster and I was making my way to the chambers. I was opening the room before I was walking inside the room.
It was dark as I went to stock the fire before I went to withdraw the curtains up and the lowlight of the morning rays were coming inside the room. Someone groaned before the movement was being made on the bed.
"Shut the curtains," His Lordship said before I was rolling my eyes before I was dusting my way in the bedchamber.
"I'm sorry, milord. But it was time for you to get up," I blurted before I remembered that I don't speak to a gentry like that. Stupid me, I guess the French were still a big part of who I was. His Lordship was glaring at me before I gasped quietly.
No, it cannot be!
The same shade of blue orbs as Edmond's were staring at me before I was looking at the floor. I was gulping before I went to attend the fire as His Lordship was moving out of the bed. He chuckled as I was trying to be near him.
"I never had someone talk back to me before," he mused before he was moving to the dressing room before a valet came and helped His Lordship out. I went to make the bed before I was moving out of the chamber.
It was too much as I was making my way to the kitchen and the Cook was busy to make sure that everything will be perfect for breakfast before His Lordship will come for breakfast.
"Now, off you go. You have to serve His Lordship now," the Cook said as I was taking the tray and I was making my way to the dining hall. I was gathering the courage to face His Lordship before I was setting the tray down.
A few moments later, the door was opened and His Lordship was coming inside the dining hall before I can do anything properly.
"Do you always so late and tardy?" He asked me as I was blushing. It's not from shyness, no. it was from anger that I wanted to poke his eyes out and served to him.
"Anything to say, mam'selle?" He asked me again as I was doing my job before I was moving out of his way. But His Lordship has another idea.
"I am talking to you, maid," he hissed before I was looking into his familiar blue orbs before the butler was clearing his throat.
"Milord, you have a guest," the butler said before the obnoxious man was releasing my wrist. I slipped out of the dining hall before I was returning to my station in the kitchen. I took a deep breath before I was being startled by Edmond.
"Lyana," he whispered near my ear before I jerked up and looked at him. His face was rough as his stubble was not being shaved and he was looking at me with concern.
"Are you alright? Did anything happen to you?" He asked me before my eyes were brimming with tears. Oh, I don't know what I would do if I was alone on this time travel journey. And before I knew it, I was hugging him.
"Oh, Edmond, I was scared and I don't know if I was doing the right thing. I think we have come to a wrong address," I whispered to him as he was holding me close to him.
"What do you mean?"
"I saw these portraits—" I did not finish my sentences as we were being interrupted by the butler, Bastien.
"I think I told you that the groom cannot come inside the house," Bastien said as Edmond was looking at him. His jaws clenched.
"I don't think I cannot take a moment to eat here," Edmond replied before the butler scoffed. I mean, what was it with this butler that was coming at all our rights and lefts that we cannot be alone for one second?
"If you wish to eat, then eat. Do not flirt or hugging or doing PDA in the public," the butler said before he was moving out of our sight, mumbling something about the strict rules of having emotions involved with the workplace.
"Well, he was charming as ever," Edmond mused before his blue orbs were staring at me. I shivered before I was remembering the other set of eyes with the same intensity, the same color.
"So, what you were saying?"
"I said that—"
Then, we were interrupted again. This time by the Cook that she was surprised to see I was in the hands of a very handsome groom.
"Oh, la la~ I did not know that you were having company and comfort from each other. I will just come back at another time," she said before Edmond chuckled.
"No, it would be fine. I was just checking on my wife before going to resume my work," Edmond said before I was glaring. He did not just use that word. Cook will get the wrong idea.
"Oh, how romantic. I cannot seem to find my husband anywhere that I wanted if I could," the Cook said before I blushed. And this time it was from embarrassment.
"Do not fret. I will leave you guys alone now," the Cook said before I stopped her.
"My husband was wondering if we could get some breakfast. He did not have eaten for the last 24 hours now," I said as the Cook was smiling at me.
"Why don't you say so?" The Cook said before she went to make something for both of us to enjoy.
After a scrumptious meal that has filled me up, I was taking a deep breath before the Cook said that she needs to go shopping for ingredients. I was nodding at her before she winked at me and I blushed.
I think she was approving this relationship, I tell you. Even if it was to blend in with the crowd.
"So, got anything on the location of the gem yet?" Edmond asked me before we were walking out of the kitchen and moved toward the stables.
I think I loved to walk with Edmond.
"I don't think that we can find it here. It was the wrong address but I swore it was here. Maybe I got mixed up and all that with the time travel. My head was still dizzy," I said before Edmond stopped and he was rubbing my temples. It was nice.
"So, I see that this what you were doing when you're not cleaning my chambers," someone was talking behind us before I jerked away from Edmond's touch and we turned to look at His Lordship that was coming at the stable with a dangerous glint in his eyes.
"Milord," we both said before we were bowing at him. He waved his hands dismissively.
"Now, I need to get out for some fresh air. Take Maximus for me, new groom," he said to Edmond before Edmond was bowing at him and left us. I don't think that he noticed that His Lordship has the same eyes like his.
"So, when will you get to work on my chamber now, Maid?" His Lordship asked me before I was resisting to roll my eyes at him. He can be overbearing sometimes. I almost pitied the girl that will be his wife someday.
"I will get to it right away, milord," I said as I was bowing to him and moved to getaway. But he snatched my wrist and I gasped at the contact.
"You don't have to be so formal when we're alone, Lyana," he said my name as I was looking at his familiar blue eyes. Even though it was a different era but I felt like I have known this man since forever.
"Lattone, will you stop scaring the maid? I think you might have another replacement in another month if you keep doing it," someone said before His Lordship released my hands.
"Well, what can I say, Dow, the Frenchwoman was enticing me all the time since last night," His Lordship replied in English as if I don't know the language.
If only he knew that I was from the future.
Wait, Lattone?
"Milord, your horse," Edmond came out of nowhere as he was holding the reign to a huge, black stallion. His Lordship took it and he was mounting it.
"Hiya!" His Lordship said before he was riding the horse away with the man that he called Dow.
"Now, that's what I call important information," Edmond said as I was looking at his blue eyes. They hardened.
And I think he heard what was going on between me and His Lordship while he was gone.
