Gordan ran past the lizard further into the fog, making sure that the Child under his arm was fully protected from the falling debris from the fight.
"What was he thinking sending a newborn like you so deep into the fray, you would have been dead by now if I hadn't dragged you out of there."
He was slightly annoyed, but that was more to do with the fact that he hated child soilders.
"Well, I'm not actually supposed to be here, the Master told me to be in the reserves, Mara told me to find the person who would help the Master."
Gordan sighed and stopped running for a minute.
"Then why in the world did you tell me not to go any further?"
He was a bit baffled by the odd logic of the child, and couldn't help but wonder what kind of teaching he had received.
"Because I didn't know you were the one coming to help."
Gordan decided not to push the subject any further and instead just kept moving until he reached the edge of the dust and ran into an open area that was souly unaffected by the carnage of battle. Gordan set down the child and began walking forward.
"So this is where you were hiding, I didn't expect you to be this close, to the battle."
A throne placed on the field, it was made of black stone and covered in gems and runes. The person sitting in the throne had a cloak covering them so that Gordan was unable to see the face but it was obvious that this person was in fact the Master.
As Gordan walked a bit closer the figure moved and looked up at him revealing a solid white mask which covered his entire face.
"Well it would seem you have saved me the trouble of looking for you."
Gordan smiled slightly at the comment.
"Oh, you were looking for me? Such an odd thing, why would someone of your caliber be looking for someone as mundane as myself?"
The figure gripped the sides of the throne in anger.
"Mundane?!? Are you saying that one of my closest servants was killed by someone who was merely mundane? Besides it was you that brought the army here as well was it not?"
Gordan stayed still and smiled slightly.
"But I don't understand why you even brought them into it. It seems that you are plenty capable to deal with the situation yourself, aren't you?"
Gordans smile faded and he let out a little sigh, stepping forward once more.
"Would you like to hear reason one, two or three first?"
The Person stood up from there seat and held up their hand summoning forth a giant plant monster which instantly began charging toward Gordan.
"Well I guess that means you don't have a preference so I'll tell them to you chronologically."
Gordan pulled out the sword that he had picked up and ran forward slicing the creature into small pieces before landing several feet away from the Master.
"First of all, I was asked to get them by the village you were attacking."
He slashed with his sword but the Master jumped back to dodge the strike, but the sword was able to nick his mask cutting a deep gash into the white stone.
"What are you doing you are supposed to help him not hurt him!"
The young vampire put himself between the two of them in an attempt to stop the fighting. The Master took advantage of this and shot a beam of light through the child into Gordan's shoulder, but to his surprise Gordan didn't seem to be fazed by the injury at all, he just stood there looking down at the child which he had caught from falling.
"And here I went out of my way to help you out, just for you to commit suicide. Really what do they teach children these days?"
Gordan cast a spell of healing and set the child gently on the ground before standing up and brandishing his sword. A cold smile spread over his face as he watched the unemotional expression of the person in front of him.
"Well then let's get this headache over with before anything else happens. Anyway I still have to tell you my reasons."
Suddenly he disappeared from the Master's gaze which made him turn his head in confusion, not understanding what had happened.
"Secondly, I wanted that brat of a king to deal with his own mess, after all this whole thing is his fault and if he won't own that fact I'll be forced to find a replacement for him."
He appeared right behind the Master and swung with his sword again, this time cutting his cloak, causing it to fall to the ground. The Master turned around and backed up swiftly in order to put some distance between the two of them, but again Gordan disappeared leaving the Master looking around frantically to see where the person could have gone.
"The third reason is perhaps the most important of them all."
Gordan appeared above the Master landing on his shoulds driving him to his knees while using the downward momentum to split the mask off of the Masters face.
"I told you I would help after all didn't I?"
The figure fell all the way to the ground after the mask came off and desperately tried to claw himself out from under Gordan who was just watching him silently.
"Well we had better get this over with, I'm gonna regret doing this I can already tell that much."
Gordan lay down his sword and pressed his fingers against the Masters forehead. Suddenly a light began to omit from the Masters skin, causing a deep green liquid to come out of the Master's throat falling to the ground.
Once the struggling stopped Gordan carefully got off of the figure and watched as the features changed from cold and unfeeling ones into, that of a familiar individual. Gordan flipped him over onto his back once the liquid stopped coming out of his mouth and then slowly stood up.
"Well that went over quite smoothly."
Suddenly a cracking sound formed between his ears and he fell to his knees gripping his skull with one hand. He felt somthing dripping off of his face and wiped it off with his free hand, he looked down and saw that it was his own blood. It didn't surprise him since he had used several spells over the course of five minutes. The headache felt like his head was being eaten from the inside by thousands of tiny insects all at once, but at least the effect wasn't as bad as what would have happened if he hadn't had the stone taking the brunt of the damage. He briefly reflected on the convenience of the stone before slowly standing to his feet a bit unbalanced.
Gordan walked a few uncertain steps before sitting down once more to grip his skull. It might be better than the alternative but it still hurt. Gradually he grew accustom to the ache in his head, and then he would move and make the pain restart all over again. After several failed attempts to get used to the feeling Gordan decided to just deal with the pain.
He heard the sound of the small vampire stirring behind him and turned his head slowly. The effects of the spell had been powerful enough to heal the injury completely when paired with the young vampires natural healing ability, it had just sped up the process.
The child crawled over to where the Master was and inspected him to see if he was badly injured. As soon as he saw the Master's face a single tear fell down his face and turned into a small perfectly cut ruby as it hit the ground, which made Gordan raise his eyebrow abit.
"You seem to have quite the interesting ability there don't you kid? I haven't seen many vampires with the skill of turning tears into precious stones in more recent years. And judging from your appearance you aren't old enough to be one of them."
The child suddenly froze and looked down at the ground at the single ruby shining in the dirt. He then looked toward Gordan and quickly snatched up the jem from sight before slowly creeping forward.
"What did you do to change his face back to how it used to be?"
Gordan looked at the Master and smiled, slightly since anymore was taxing at this point. He raised his hand up and patted the child's head.
"It wasn't anything special, I just got rid of a pesky bug that was nesting in his brain."
The child looked utterly horrified and looked near his master. As soon as he saw the puddle of green fluid he looked closely and saw several pieces of a strange looking bug floating in it.
"Who would have done such a thing to the Master? He was so nice to everyone that he met, and then when he came home one day he had completely changed. That was a year ago now..."
Gordan was already aware of the basics that had happened, but hearing a first hand account peaked his interest. So he nodded for the child to continue.
"After he came back he was distant and stayed in his room for about eight months before suddenly emerging in order to plan his move against the area. The change was so crazy that none of us could understand what was going on. And then all of this happened, where did things go wrong?"
The child looked up at Gordan with an expression of both pain and confusion.
=Sigh=
"Well if you want to know who is to blame you should ask those two fine gentlemen, since it was actually their plan in the first place."
Fordan pointed his thumb behind him toward the dust wall where two people were walking towards them.
"Nice of you to finally show up, you two, but you're a bit ahead of schedule, maybe I shouldn't have asked for Orions help, then you would have been distracted for a bit longer."
Out of the dust stepped the hero and the king both with weapons drawn looked toward Gordan with extreme malice. Gordan slowly rose to his feet again and picked up his sword.
"Hey kid, make sure that you keep your master safe."
Gordan smiled, he would only have to deal with them until Orion had finished his job, and then they could rap things up quickly, but by his count he still had another minute and a half until Orion finished chopping the beast up. He wiped away the last of the blood on his face and took a deep breath ready for what was about to come.
