The hero had used the knife as a conductor to drive his soul into Gordan without any threat to his own body, but he hadn't expected that the person he was fighting was in such bad condition. After a few seconds in control his head felt like it was about to explode in pain, and his legs gave out from pain. He could feel that the entire body was in a state of extreme overuse, it was like the owner had been using his body without any regard for his well being. The hero felt like he would go insane from the pain, the change had been to drastic. After a bit of time he stood up, he needed to finish his business and get out of this body as fast as he could, the pain wasn't getting any better no matter how long he waited so he decided to just get the heart, kill the host and then leave as fast as possible. But when he had finally found the item he was looking for he was confronted by the monster that he had tried to posses the day before. He could feel a sinking feeling in his heart as he opened up the bag and saw that it was full of green stones. He threw them to the ground out of disgust. He had thought that they were playing into his trap, but both the condition of the body and the bag made it obvious that they had planned the entire fight.
He gritted his teeth but that only server to activate his headache. He needed to get the bag from the monster. Keeping the body he was in alive didn't really matter so he could fight recklessly if necessary, he started to try to draw from his magic when somthing strange happened. He felt pain burst through him at various points on Gordan's body.
He slowly looked down and saw that the bag of stones had erupted into spikes which had impaled him deeply enough to stop his movements. He coughed up some blood and wondered what was going on. He desperately tried to pull himself off of the spikes, but they had hooked into his body.
"Man he really was ready for this wasn't he?"
The hero looked up not understanding what the person ment by that. But he couldn't see anything out of the ordinary, and then suddenly the hero felt a strange pull on his soul and his vision began to waver into darkness.
It seemed like he was in the darkness forever, it swirled around him in an uncontrollable mass, changing as it flowed around him in an almost tangible form. He wondered though the darkness wondering what in the world was going on. The mist seemed to be pushing him forward until he reached a door. He reached out and turned the handle.
Suddenly the door swung outward dragging the hero with it. When he opened his eyes again he was on a beach of black sand next to a dark ocean. As the waves lapped up against him he noticed that there was a stench in the air, and when he looked down he saw that his hands were covered in a deep red liquid. it felt slightly odd so he raised it up his hand so he could see it better, and then realized in horror that his hand was covered in blood.
He quickly got to his feet and backed away from the blood water looking around the place with fear. He heard a roar in the distance and then noticed a set of eyes staring at him from the water. As soon as it saw his eyes, the creature pulled itself out of the water revealing a serpent like creature which was covered in injuries. It came up the the edge of the water and lowered its humongous head down near the hero, who looked dwarfed compared to it.
"And, what brings you hear, human? We don't get many visitors here."
It's long snake like tongue quickly darted in and out quickly, and it looked around the area suspiciously.
"He shouldn't be here, should he? That means you are an intruder."
A smile seemed to spread over the creatures mouth and he opened his mouth as to attack.
"What did I tell you about random attacks? Do I have to teach you another lesson?"
The creature flinched at the sound of a new voice which came from behind the hero. The creature turned and quickly dove back into the water in fear. The hero wasn't sure if he should be happy or not about the creature's reaction. He slowly turned around and saw a cloaked figure standing a couple of feet behind him. It gave off an extremely eerie feeling which made the hero want to run, but he felt oddly rooted in the sand, unable to move any further.
"Now that, he is out of the way, I think that the two of use should have a little talk young one."
The figure seemed to smile as he said this, even though the hero was unable to see his face, that was the feeling that he got. He instinctively nodded his head in understanding.
"Good, it's always best when things can be solved easily. First thing that I need to tell you is. Don't ever try to posses a person who is already possessed. It makes the original possessor quite angry you know."
As he said this the hero noticed that the figures hands had turned to claws which were opening and closing slowly. He gulped and looked at the shadow horrified.
"Secondly, what were you thinking? Trying to fight a monster like Gordan, you were just asking to fail. I almost came out myself when you started attacking him at the castle."
The hero looked confused for a moment, sure the person, whose name was apparently Gordan, was strong, but why was this disturbing individual calling him a monster?
"You know sometimes I wonder if you hero's actually even bother to figure out what this world is like anymore. You just jump into any situation like you are invincible."
He was shaking his head back and forth in confusion. The hero was, for the first time in his entire time here, speechless. He wasn't sure how to deal with this odd figure which seemed to be giving him some form of advice.
"I don't understand, he's only some random traveling messenger. How is he so crazy strong?"
The figure stopped walking and stared at him for a moment before dropping his head in his hands.
"Listen kid, I'm helping you becouse I have a soft spot for hero's in general. If you had stayed in his conscience any longer you would have gone mad and not even realized it. Those things that you were stabbed with, act as pain amplifiers, and if you thought that the pain you felt when you first entered the body was bad, you would have been in for quite the treat. That kind of pain wouldn't just drive someone crazy, it could kill them."
He shook his head and sighed as the hero looked at him still slightly puzzled.
"So you're saying he was trying to kill me?"
The figure laughed a little and then looked at the hero with its glowlying eyes which was like looking into an abyss.
"No, after what you did, he wouldn't let you off with somthing so easy. See as long as you are in his body, it won't kill you unless the body reaches its limit and spits out your soul, otherwise you will be trapped in a never ending cycle of pain and misery, trapped there by your own spell. And when it finally broke, you would be sent back to your own body as a husk of your former self."
The hero looked at the figure horrified at what he had just heard.
"How can he be such a heartless person?"
The figure looked at him again, and somehow its gaze grew even darker.
"Heartless? In the past you wouldn't have gotten off so easily, the fate that I have just decided to you is childs play compared to what he could do, just be thankful he seems to be in a sluggish mood lately."
He turned and began walking into the water, but the hero didn't fallow him, so he sighed and held out his hand.
"I will help you leave this place, but make sure that you get out of this body emidiatly, or else what I have described to you will undoubtably come to pass. Also when you are exiting this area you might run into some memories, do your best to ignore them, since the feelings tend to transfer over."
The hero accepted his hand, forcing himself to not jerk away his hand as he felt the icy grip.
"One more bit of advice, patch things up with him quickly, before he actually desides to kill you."
The hero felt an eminence fear creep into his bones as heard the words from the figure. He felt that this figure had not lied to him, and that for some reason he was concerned about his wellbeing. He didn't know when, but the longer he stayed in this place the more he started to question the worth of his existence. It was a feeling that the hero had never experienced before. Just before he went under the surface he noticed somthing a little further up the bank and let go of the figure's hand, running back to the beach toward the figure huddled there.
"Your majesty, What are you doing here?"
The huddled figure didn't respond and the hero turned toward the dark figure who had fallowed him to the new location.
"Did you know he was here? No, why is he here?"
The figure looked down at the huddled figure and picked it up by the scruff of the neck, revealing a siloite of the king, it was almost completely black save for the red beating heart which was suspended in the darkness.
"So he hid it here, huh? Wonder how he got it past me."
The hero looked at him confused and then at the heart which was beating slowly as if it would stop at any moment.
"If your wondering, this is the king's heart, but it might not be the best idea to take it out right now. I mean sure you would win the game, but the effects might be a bit negative on his mental state."
The hero grabbed the heart and turned to the figure.
"That may be, but it is rather obvious that if what you are telling me then, there is no way for me to win. Plus the heart is about to stop being in here anyway right."
The figure leaned back and laughed until its sides began to shake.
"Man he is not going to be happy about this. But you do make a good point there, you won't be able to help the king if you enter in a direct confrontation with him. I'll help you, but only this much, take this as a second chance of sorts okay?"
The hero nodded his head not quite getting what he was saying, but he needed to get out of here so he acted like he did. Somthing about this place made his mind a little bit clearer, he had to get the king away from this monster and train until he would be able to defeat it. And when that time came he would be able to get his revenge. Once more he fallowed the figure into the ocean of blood, as soon as his head went under the surface his mind went blank and he was once again back in Gordans conscious.
