Chapter 4 - Another Person

Gordan had to stop himself from hitting his head again, he knew it would only make the situation worse so he decided to just deal with it.

Gordan pulled himself to his feet, which was not something fun to do when one is in a mud pit. Slowly he made his way over to the figure at the other end of the pit, the figure started to struggle as he got closer so he took a minute to stop and let the figure calm down.

The mud was cold, and quite unpleasant, but he was used to things like this so it really didn't bother him other than he might get sick if he didn't warm up, and the last thing that he needed was for his injuries to start festering because they were exposed to a damp environment for to long.

He shook himself from that line of thought since it would do him no good to think about tedious things. He began trudging over again as he noticed that the figure had calmed down a bit and was now just starting at him.

Rather uncomfortable from being stared at he rubbed the back of his neak and realized that the snake was no longer on his shoulder. He had wondered why it was that he had felt alittle lighter after falling down the hole, but then again all he could do was shrug not much he could do about that since he had been alittle busy with his hand so he had not really been able to pay attention to something like a huge snake dangling around his neck.

He had to stop dwelling on whether or not the snake would have tasted good since he hadn't eaten in several days...

Thinking about such things was a waste of time, he knew that. He also knew that if he got out of this hole he might be eating boar, that was unless that idiot had just wanted him to get the person out of the pit, though why it had desided that it might be a good idea to knock him dow here too really baffled Gordan.

He noticed that the figure was starting to move again and then a sudden realization dawned on him. He probably looked like a crazy person with the paint on his face. Stopping himself from hitting hitting himself for the who tenth time, Gordan decided to just go through with it, what ever happened would happen.

For the hundredth time he wondered how in the world anyone could consider this forest safe? He had finally reached the figure and noticed that they were trapped under a pile of rocks, and attached to them were around a hundred of the largest leeches that Gordan had ever seen.

Gordan hated leeches, they were one of the only things that he hated in all forms of the word, be they people or slimy disgusting creatures of darkness and mayhem. Just thinking about them brought back memories of when he had been ten and his father had dropped him in a cave full of leeches over night. When his father had returned the next day he found Gordan unconscious surrounded by thousands of dead leeches, the event had stayed with him for over twenty years.

Taking his mind off uncomfortable things Gordan reached out his good arm and grabbed the only part of the figure that wasn't covered in leeches, its head.

He pulled with minimal effort and was able to dislodge the figure which was rather small in size. Once he had pulled it free he looked up toward the top of the pit, judging the distance as best as he could he threw the figure up at an angle so that it flew over the edge.

The action took quite a bit out of him but he didn't have time to rest up, he needed to get out of the pit before he ran into any leeches. Ignoring the pain in his left hand he began climbing up the side of the pit.

Thankfully the side had many grips so it was not hard to get out, infact the footholds seemed to be very defined like it was made to be like that.

Gordan desided not to think about that and just went back to climbing, it was better than thinking. He had no idea why this pit was the way that it was, but for some reason it seemed alittle bit familiar to him, maybe he had read about it in a book somewhere.

When he reached the top and pulled himself over the side of the pit, he coughed up some mud and laid down for a small rest. His arm felt like it was about to break, he would have to be careful using it in the future.

After he got his breath back he sat up and looked around, the boar was hovering over the small figure which seemed to be unconscious, he also saw the snake on the side of the pit. Somehow it's teeth had hooked onto the side of the pit which seemed alittle odd but he pulled it off thankful that he might still have something to eat.

He put the snake back around his neck and walked over to the figure and the boar. He saw that the figure was a child, and that the child was extremely pale. No doubt the falt of the blood sapping pieces of filth, he took several deep breaths and sat down near the child.

The boar nudged the child trying to wake it, when that didn't work it turned to Gordan who was still trying to soothe the pain in his left arm.

The boar angered at being ignored came over and bit his arm to get his attention. Gordan looked over at him with a sigh.

"You could have just nudged me or something what do you want?"

The boar let go of his arm and walked back over to the child motioning to the child as though telling him to fix the problem.

Gordan looked over at the child and the leeches.

=sigh=

He figured that he might as well get it over with, he felt like his skin was crawling, he was happy that he had not been personally afflicted by the monsters but now he had to deal with them? He felt like he was going to get sicker.
