Chapter 30 - 30 A Relaxing Workout

Robin yelled and charged into the horde. She resembled a blender, with pieces of monster and blood flying all around her. I felt her mind ease into the familiarity of focused combat, her husband's absolutely crazy story fading to the back of her mind.

That gave me pause. Husband? I realized that the feeling of concept was more mate than husband. I guess we were married by common law in this area. Whatever. I guessed we should have that talk after she knows everything, so I pushed that idea away. Time to mash everything together and screw them up royally!

I reached to the very back of the horde and made its space go nice and soft. Monsters started falling into the sky. I made sure to keep clear of Robin as I brought the gravity slide around, down, and up once more. The way the monsters all screamed and tumbled up and down in a wave was quite amusing. All in all, I saved ten goblins, ten beastmen, and two giants for Robin to vent on. I also left the demon out for interrogation, but fixed her space in place so that she couldn't move.

I waited until the horde squished into a nice ball and started blasting with my DS-9001 and 9002. The way the monsters blended together, than apart, together, then apart was cathartic. I didn't have to think about my future plans, my family, or my original world. I just enjoyed the spectacle as monsters blended together, the mass shrinking as their mana was absorbed, and laughed maniacally as I held my two blazing guns.

Ten minutes later, I was feeling much more lighthearted. Robin looked happier too, smiling while she leaned on her Sword to catch her breath. The demon, on the other hand looked distinctly unhappy. Her dress was scorched away, her hair was frizzy and standing up with electricity buzzing from end to end, and she had dirt and mud pasted liberally on her body and face. You would think she would learn after her first fireball couldn't escape her space.

I smirked as I got closer to her, and stopped clamping down so hard on her space. "Looks like your beauty treatment went horribly wrong, girl. Should I end your misery?"

Robin walked up next to me. "Why isn't she a giant? And just kill her, you won't get directions to the Demon King from a low level demon like her."

The demon glared at us and said nothing. Curious, I tried to invade her mind, and actually succeeded! I felt her building another spell with her mana, and made her uninterested in attacking us. Then I put her in a talkative mood.

While she started to blathering on about, "inferior human" and, "you have not seen my full powers!" I took a look at her instincts. Apparently, she was actually compressing herself to human size. Not only did it let her punch more effectively, but she could be easily carried by her monster slaves that way. As a newborn demon, she was not too powerful, but if left alone she would grow in power and continue to try to end humanity on this world.

I looked at Robin. "She's kinda cute. Can we keep her?" I made sure to show her mentally that I meant as a useful pet. I did not want a newborn homicidal maniac as a wife or concubine.

Robin thought about it. "There are tales of contracting with demons, but it always ends badly for the human. I don't want to take the risk."

I grinned. "First of all, I'm not strictly human anymore. Secondly, I wouldn't make a deal with her, just enslave her. The only duty she'll have is to gather up the monsters in the areas we pass through."

Robin just sighed, giving up.

I reached further into the demons mind and took hold. I warped her, changing her very being to exist to serve me. There was a shiver that ran through her body as her mana shifted, and she collapsed to her knees and screamed. She still wanted to end humanity, as I couldn't change her entirely without making her useless to me, but that was a distant second to her need for my commands. The conflict was difficult for her to resolve, so I had her do something humanity does best. She now believed in two opposing things at the same time.

I looked at my new slave. Her skin was now a pale white and her eyes a deep black, and her wings and tail looked softer to touch and pointier on the ends. "Your name is now Hypocrisy, and your first command is to fix yourself. You are a right mess."

"How should I fix myself?" Hypocrisy asked. I sighed and showed her a mental image of herself. She focused and grunted as her image of a pristine girl in a dress once more became real.

Robin looked jealous. "How did you do that? I want to be able to do the same thing to clean off!"

Hypocrisy snorted, shooting her a hateful glare. "Become made of mana, human, and you can do the same. But you can't, because you are an inferior flesh bag."

I sniggered at Robin's look of outrage. She was sweaty though, and probably wanted to clean off. I concentrated, and her dirt and smell floated away from her and collapsed in a floating ball above my hand. I tossed it away. Yay for cleaning magic!

I looked back to Hypocrisy. After digging in her brain, I knew she knew nothing of importance. What she could do was save us time.

"Hypocrisy, my next command is to come with me. When we reach the next uncleared monster area, gather all the monsters together. If you manage to gather monsters faster than I can kill them, I'll even reward you."

Her eyes glittered. "Master, I cannot gather dragons yet, but everything smaller I can manage. You will see!"
