Chapter 32 - 32 Test Driving My New Demon

I shifted the truck into forward gear. "Robin, we missed one dragon mountain. Please blast the Suckerball 15 degrees to the left."

As the delightful sound of the Suckerball started up once more, I looked towards Hypocrisy. "You'll know what to do."

The demon nodded and moved toward the door. A few miles later it jumped out and sped away. I slowed the Death Machine down a little so that the monsters led into our path would actually be able to get in front of us.

Time to dive into my new toy's brain to see how she operates. I'll also just call it a her while she has a female form.

-------------------------------------

Hypocrisy grew as she traveled at blindingly fast speeds. The small size was getting uncomfortable, and her larger, more natural size was more convenient for covering ground. She felt around and headed for the strongest sense of apocalypse mana.

She wanted to help her new master, no, she realized, her god by subverting her fellows to his cause. If they did not listen, then they would die like their pitiful slaves.

Hypocrisy found two demons, each immaculately dressed in a three piece suit. (I wondered at the stellar fashion sense the Creator of this world had for its demons.) One had a cane and elaborate mustache, while the other was completely bald with craggy, menacing features.

Hypocrisy wondered what they were talking about with their draconian slaves, but she couldn't overhear much before they noticed her approach and turned to warily face her.

She smiled at them, then reached out and crushed the bald guy. His baldness just annoyed her, and she hadn't eaten in a while. Tossing the disintegrating corpse into her mouth she enjoyed the sense of her mana absorbing and converting her prey's mana. Truly delicious.

The mustached demon looked fearfully at her. "What are you? You have less Apocalypse mana than I do, but you're so much more powerful!"

The draconians attempted to flee, so she snatched them up and tossed them screaming into her mouth and chewed. "Excushe me," she mumbled. Then the draconians dissolved.

She looked at the demon. "Bring all your monsters and any demons you can find to the clearing five miles north from here. It will further the Apocalypse!" I shared the location mentally with her, and then told her to grab Mustache's head.

Hypocrisy darted forward, blurring and appearing with enough force to flap the other demon's mustache with the wind of her passage. She grabbed his head, making it crumple slightly, and I reached into Mustache's mind. I didn't need another slave at this point, so I just implanted the command to bring everything demanded as fast as possible.

Mustache demon's face went blank, then passionate. I felt his mana resonate as his command went out. Then we all heard a rumble that grew into an enormous roar as the the monsters roared as one in acknowledgement.

Robin startled. "What the heck!" She looked towards me.

I grinned smugly. "My demon has performed admirably and gotten all the monsters to gather together once more. I had the roar included merely for the awesome effect."

I looked at the map. "It appears we have around ten thousand this time. A fine assortment of draconians, kobolds, and three small dragons." I looked out and saw the moving hills. "Yup, small. Suck them if you would, my dear."

I listened to the comforting noises of the Suckerball cannon as we drove up slowly to the appointed meeting place. These monsters traveled fast, and were all waiting for us like good little monsters.

I looked towards Robin. "You want to chop them up, or just blast them?"

Robin showed her teeth. "I like to use a personal touch when taking the heads off monsters. There are so many, though. I would like them cut to a more easily managed number."

"You know, you're level forty five now. None of these small fry can put a scratch on you, except the dragons, and we sucked them up already. However, I don't want to be here all day, so I'll have Hypocrisy help you."

Robin unstrapped herself from her seat, but looked upset. "I don't trust that thing. I know you said she's completely loyal to you, but she might take a swipe at me."

I gave her a reassuring hug. "I will actually be using her as an avatar. Don't worry so much. She will be essentially me."

I wanted to help her, but I also wanted more shawarma. I felt this was an acceptable compromise, and it would test the limits of what I could do through Hypocrisy. Everyone wins!

We pulled up to the horde, and I reached out and strengthened my sense of self in Hypocrisy. Her mana flared in response, but I could feel the strain it put on her Definition to accommodate the extra power. If I held this longer than five minutes and ten seconds, she would dissolve into the void. Her Definition would adapt to it eventually, allowing longer and longer time for her to be used as my avatar.

While I sat on the gunner seat and ate another shawarma, I also strutted forward to meet Robin. The monsters were starting to get frisky, but were still held in place by Mustache's silent command. That would not hold for long.

Hypocrisy was me at that moment, so I used her Will and forced space to compress. I changed my mind at the last moment and spared Mustache and the front row of monsters for Robin to work out with. This shawarma was delicious, and it was surprisingly easy to be in two places at the same time.

Once all the monsters had been squished to the point where they had become a formless blob, I fired five Suckerballs at it. The enormous monster ball started to shrink, and I grabbed Mustache. The remaining monsters attacked, as monsters don't run away.

Mustache tried to struggle, and I debated once more conversion versus consumption. However, the more demons I converted, the easier it would be to end all the monsters, so I once more reached into his mind and twisted it. His mana merged with my qi, and I had another devoted demon paladin in my cult.

I felt frustrated that I wasn't able to eat him, so I took a deep drink of the neutral mana in my power core. I then disengaged avatar mode, leaving Hypocrisy to power up as her reward.

Robin came back in grinning. "That was fun. Let's do that again!"
