The Death Machine appeared. I had been pointing at a clearer patch of woods when I gave the Create command to System, but trees were still sent flying with the shockwave. It turns out that something that large appearing where there had been nothing but air before makes quite the ripple in air and space.
It was beautiful. The dome cannon turret on top sat on a sleek tough looking tank compartment, with a door on each side to let the crew enter. On each corner of the tank compartment were two cupolas that housed turrets. The arrangement sat on a criss cross strut frame, and was settled on six spiky wheels. If you looked closely between the wheels you could see a slight shimmer where the blender enchantment stood ready to paste anything. I felt a surge of possessive pride. My truck.
I ignored Robin's wide eyes and turned to Ely and Carol. "Can we give you folks a ride anywhere before we continue on our quest to slay monsters? I say!" The last was because it finally registered how gorgeous Carol was. Even with my full mental shields up, she/he somehow oozed sensuality to the point that it brought my mental processes to a halt. How do this siren have this effect on me? I suddenly realized why Ely and Carol didn't live around other people. The two of them were an incredible temptation to me and Robin, and the whole gender thing freaked us both out a little.
I gazed into their eyes. Ok, this wasn't a magical effect from qi or mana, and this was no mental ability, though I did feel the pressure. Why were they so adorably attractive?
I thought about this while listening to Carol's voice saying something about coming with us. Wait.
"No. You're too distracting. How useful would you be in a fight? You saw Robin. Do you have even the basics of skills that can be amplified like she was?" Saying that took way too much willpower.
I pulled a large sack of gold out and tossed it in front of them. "This should help you to rebuild. Have a wonderful life!"
I picked up Robin and ran with her to the truck. Don't think about those two incredibly sexy people you're leaving behind. Nope. Concentrate on the incredible woman in your arms. Yes. Kiss her. Yes.
My reason was fading when we got to the truck. I opened the door on the side, and carried Robin to one of the comfortable benches. I grinned wickedly at her. She was doing much worse than me, her whole body aching with need. Despite her leveling up thirty times, the Siren's Call affected her more than me. Yes, I finally believed that Carol was a capital Siren.
During the next fifteen minutes, we charged the kinetic energy reservoirs for the side turrets. Afterwards, I looked at my map to make sure they were gone. They had gone back to their house and were starting to clean up. I felt bad, and then just forced the issue
Robin stirred next to me. "That was amazing." She smiled contentedly at me. "Thanks for sending them away. I don't think we could have gotten much done with them around. Speaking of, what the heck was that and why were we affected? You told me you had mental powers, and my resistance should have been upgraded enough to not be affected!?"
I gazed worriedly at where the Sirens were digging out their larder. "I'm not completely sure, but I think we came across them due to your world's Law of Hero harems. Since both of us are technically Heroes, we got two hermaphrodites. We had an intrinsic connection because of that already, and add in those Siren powers..."
I turned to her. "To be honest, I've been kind of hoping the Law would switch off or just stick you with the Hero harem. It would be a lot easier for me to say no to guys than a willing woman in unfortunate circumstances. I'm not the biggest fan of harems, since people I like would end up competing for me."
Robin smirked at me. "What if I wanted the harem?" I could tell the question was just a tease, so I just looked at her.
She smiled back. "I forgot that you can read my mind for a moment. Let's get going."
