I looked around. All the burgers were gone, and I actually felt a little full. I definitely need to add the burger bar to my personal reality. Time to get started on creating it!
We went back outside and walked towards the gate I had set up before. While we walked, I managed to get some definitions for magic out of Spagetti.
His world only used three magical energies: mana, the mental energy, qi, the energy of the body, and the Force. Yes, that Force. Force energy was what bound the reality together.
The way my new buddy explained things, mana produces consciousness, and a high enough concentration of it can cause your thought to become reality. Qi solidified and strengthened the form of all things, living and non living, and if there was a higher concentration of it in something or someone, that someone would become more real than those that had less of it. This would lead to improbable things like ordinary bullets bouncing off of them, or being able to rip apart steel doors.
The Force, however, was an energy that was in a class of its own. A master of the manipulation of its energies would be considered a demigod due to the fact it ruled over the other energies, but actually becoming such a master required a specific type of mind and character. A true Master would be on the side of good, as he'd be able to perceive the connected ripple effects from every one of his actions and thoughts.
"You should be aware that other worlds have different magic systems, some extremely esoteric. I've heard of one where all magic is sourced from another plane of existence tied to it, and others where people get random abilities from surviving life threatening events." So spirit summoning and superpowers.
We reached the gate. Spagetti frowned at it. "Where does it lead?"
I grinned. "Nowhere yet. Soon though, we're going to be neighbors."
I reached out again and called into existence my own little world. It was flat and the size of Earth, filled with a working civilised society of angels that were loyal to me alone. The end of the world was simply the end, with a sheer cliff face going down into infinity. In the middle of the disc, at the top of a mountain, there was a door that shared space with the one in front of us.
I unlocked the door and swung it open, letting in a blast of cold air. Beyond the interworld portal was the amazing sight of myriads of angels soaring towards us through a brilliantly lit night sky, while the ones who had already reached us had already kneeled and bowed their heads.
Spagetti paled. "You created this all personally? What about the personal complexities of each angels' personality and all their names? What about world biomes and ecological systems? How is this possible?"
I grinned at him. "All the angels have the same personality template and nine have a name. They also all know they owe their existence to me, and are literally eternally grateful and loyal because of that. They'll eventually develop distinct personalities over time."
"The world was also a rush job. I basically copied the orchard here over and over, and only threw the mountain in the middle so that there would be a landmark. I'm not too bothered though. I'll be a little more varied and creative once I finish your Hero contract."
Speaking of, it was time to get cracking. I really needed to design my own System. The constant will saves I had to do in order to do an Act of Creation was quite exhausting, and a buffer with redundancies built into it would help me keep from burning myself out.
I looked at the tens of thousands of angels kneeling before me and smiled. At least I knew what hardware to run the System on.
