"System," I commanded. "Apply all three Heroic Gifts to me. Fill the core with one Heroic measure. I'm heading out to be the Doom guy!" I was always the guy who enjoyed using cheat codes more than the challenging game play.
I thought about that as I walked with Spagetti back to his domain. I wouldn't mind a shotgun. Oh, yeah, the idea of filling those demons with hot lead made me feel hot and bothered. I knew the basics of how one worked, but I needed to know what kind of enchantments to apply.
"Hey Spagettio! Is there a limit on the kind of enchantment your world uses, like only using runic or infused?" Runic enchantments were magic circuits that were in the shape of runes that infused the magic with the intent needed for it to manifest an effect. Infused enchantments were pure intent mixed with magic that gave enchanted objects their purpose.
He shook his head. "No, but you don't need to make anything anyway. There's a sword and armor for the Hero already."
I snorted. Like I would wield a sword when I could have a gun! Encouraged by the lack of obstacles, I worked diligently on a template for one using the VMD and a convenient runic enchantment download from System. By the time we got to the portal to the world I needed to save, I was ready. Ignoring Spagetti, who was jabbering on and on about his magic sword, I commanded, "Create!"
A double barreled four gauge shotgun formed before me and fell into my waiting hands. It was cooler than any magic sword, covered in purple and green swirls, with sigils carved at the magazine, stock, and an eighteen inch barrel. There was a glowing white magic crystal in the middle of the stock that powered the enchantments.
I grinned evilly at a suddenly wary looking Spagetti. "Meet the DS 9001, or the Demon Screwer! The enhantment in the stock makes power crystal be passively replenished by tapping into the residual energies from any body enhancements that I get, with a secondary option of actively tapping into my Heroic power storage core! The magazine cartridges are fixed and enchanted to auto replenish, making this gun a semi-automatic! The barrel is enchanted to make whatever shoots through it to explode the area of whatever it hits, and the replenishing slugs have condensing enchantments on them that make whatever it hits compact together into a dense ball! She's beautiful!!" I wiped a tear of joy from my eye.
"Screwer?" asked Spagetti. "Shouldn't it be Slayer? And won't the two damage enchantments cancel each other? "
I laughed, a full on, evil, maniacal laugh. "You just answered your own question. The enchantments conflict yes, but they aren't synchronized to cancel."
Spagetti looked confused, then his eyes widened. "Hot diggity dog! I want one too!"
I smirked at him. "Good luck with that. I hope the portal is over a nice concentration of demons. I want to take this thing for a test run." I wondered if the System had given him his own VMD. If it had, he could make his own.
We pushed open the massive castle gates, and I felt the portal open. Unlike the messy spatial tears used by the System before, which basically tore a hole in space and pinched two places together, this was a seamless melding of two different spatial coordinates to become one. Beyond the portal, clouds floated by, and I could see a brilliant blue moon illuminating the ground far below.
I looked to Spagetti. "I'm off. Tallyhoe!" I leaped out into space, ignoring Spagetti, who was trying to say something about a sword again. Dagnabbit! Real Heroes don't use swords!
