When I woke up, everything was different. Then again, I'd officially transcended humanity with my physical and mental upgrades. I felt good, sharper and more powerful than ever before.
Testing my new space powers, I find I could sense everything's internal structure, up to and partially including where reality stopped. That was freaky! It's one thing to perceive with sight that reality ends, but spatial awareness was even more visceral.
Concentrating on the fruit of the fruit trees, I shifted an apple from where it was too my hand. Interestingly, I still had to pluck it from the tree, as I'd only moved the space between the apple and my hand, and had not severed it from the tree.
Eating my apple, I concentrated on increasing the space between me and the ground. I hovered for a second, then started to fall to the ground. I concentrated, then shifted space at a constant rate, until I could feel that I was matching the pull.
As an aside, gravity here was a mechanism of the laws of the pocket reality. Space was constantly shifted away from beneath me, until my body's form could not go any farther because of the ground's form. When I and the other guy created this place, we must have been so used to gravity that it became part of our concept for creation.
Speaking of, I finally felt safer enough to confront my kidnapper. While I had no idea what he wanted, it would be very difficult to give me as much as a scratch right now.
I walked to the castle doors and threw them open. Floating there, with a scowl on his face, was the joker who'd shouted in my ear - was it two days ago? He took the form of a slim young man, dressed in a black pair of jeans, a black t-shirt, and black crocs. He had black hair and eyes that shined with black eldritch fire. His skin was dark though, not black, and his features were quite handsome.
He quickly flew in through the doors before I could slam them shut again. "About time you opened up," he said. "I was beginning to think you'd died in there."
I scowled right back at him. "Why didn't you just come back in on your own?" I was actually quite interested in the answer. I could feel how the doors opened a spacial rift to the other reality. Why didn't he just reopen the rift himself?
He looked at me if I was crazy. "The doors only open from the inside." So he couldn't manipulate space? Then how did he bring me top that pocket reality? Maybe it wasn't him?
"You brought me here well enough, why not teleport yourself?" I asked.
He looked impatient. "That's a secret. I won't explain myself to a mortal!" So he couldn't manipulate space, and he had a secret that could.
"Do you have a creator system our something that assists you?" I asked. Come to think of it, I should make one myself. It would keep a power tap for me on the chaos and nothingness without me having to risk my very existence each time I wanted to change my current power set.
"Enough of that. You need to apologize for socking me in the face!"
So he did have a OS for complex creation tasks. Mind reading is turning out to be quite a useful power, though it was surprising I got anything out of his head. Shouldn't his system protect him from that?
"I apologize for punching you. Please forgive me. Next time, don't startle people like that. I also need an apology from you for kidnapping me and giving me such a fright."
"I'm sorry," he said, looking sheepish. I'm kinda new to the whole creator and caretaker business. And when I saw that you hadn't even noticed me next to you, I just couldn't resist a little prank."
That was a pretty sincere apology. I didn't even have to tweak his thoughts!
Suddenly, a sword appeared in his hand. "I'm sorry, but I have just received a quest to erase you. Before I end you, tell me what you did. I don't understand why a guy I was scouting for the Hero position in my world would merit such a response!"
