Working till late at night, I can finally leave this stupid restaurant. On my drive home I think of what else there is to do in my life.
I'm an avid web novel reader, watch anime and manga, the works. The unfortunate thing is being engrossed in something makes it all the more disappointing when you've read it all.
"What is there to do but wait for more updates?"
I make it home at a good 2:30 in the morning. I'm rewatching one of my favorite shows called HuntXHunt; I get a cup of ice cream and settle in on my living room.
__________
[ Ugh why is it so bright? ]
Light flashed before my eyes as I'm lifted into the air. I can barely make out a shabby house with no technology. Some old lady is holding me.
[eh?]
I can't control my limbs? With my barely usable vision, I can make out an average woman on the floor, a bucket of warm water, hay, and other women taking care of the one on the floor.
[I mean it's been a dream to be reincarnated and all but what happened to my body in the other world?]
...
[Moving on..]
"Congratulations Haruna it's a boy!"
said the woman as she passed me to Haruna.
"Thank you, Lila. His name will be Kurt" said Haruna smiling softly.
[Kurt? why does that sound familiar?]
"I wonder what that no good man of yours is doing running off when you're in such a critical time." humphed Lila.
"Please Lila, I don't like hearing that. I'll be putting him to sleep. Thank you for my delivery, Kurt's first day in this world and I can't wait to see how my young boy will grow." said Haruna.
Enveloped in cloth, me and Haruna leave into an adjacent room and she puts me into a crude hay-filled box. I can't seem to keep my eyes open so might as well fall asleep.
__________
[ HuntXHunt!] I open my eyes mentally scream. [ That's where I know the name, Kurt. In the anime, he gets eaten by a chimera ant at the age of 9 and is reborn as the winged avian Colt!]
....
[shit]
Now I'm putting the pieces together. Did I die in my sleep or something? While watching anime? At least it was peaceful in my sleep...but my death in this world sure won't be a good one.
In the show, the strongest people are nen users. The thing that killed Kurt was a soldier level crab ant. So in order to survive, I have to become strong enough to defeat soldier-level ants.
Colt was the first Squadron leader and later with Rammot punching him and opening his aura nodes, he quickly learned nen.
[ This is good.] I smiled.
This means Kurt who later becomes Colt has talent. Enough talent to defeat G*n and Kill*a in the beginning of the arc. Even though that's because of his physiology.
The good news I have talent. The bad news I have to open my nodes manually...Aura is the life energy produced by all living bodies vital for survival.
The pores on the body from which aura flows out from are called "Aura Nodes" and to learn Nen I must manually open my Aura Nodes so that I can control the flow of aura.
[ And the only way to do this without initiation is meditation.]
In this baby body I can't move very well, so how am I supposed to meditate? aren't I supposed to do the whole criss-cross apple sauce, okay finger sign upside down on your knees while I say "oohmm"?
...
maybe I'm just ignorant. let's start slowly. I'd rather not experience death. I have a very clear 9-year time limit so I can delay.
Okay, with all my bogus kung fu knowledge and attempts at martial arts, I know you're breathing is important.
The breath. An all-important aspect of life we underestimate. Martial artists all agree on its importance...
...
So do I just breathe all day? Ugh. Probably not. It has to do with a certain way of breathing so let's try deep slow breaths.

__________
It's been 3 years now. I can walk and have been helping my mom by going out to the nearby trees and harvesting berries. Recently she has been getting rather skinny. She really needs to eat more.
Regarding my nen, I opened my aura pores in a few days of being born. When one opens their pores, aura is essentially life energy. if it leaks out continuously..it can only lead to bad things.
It kind of freaked me out so I had to urgently incorporate the 4 basic principles of nen, Ten, Zetsu, Ren, and Hatsu to not die of fatigue
Ten is the process of keeping the nodes open but also having aura flow through and around the body rather than away from it. Keeping myself constantly in a shroud of aura, I became able to do what the pros do and maintain this state all day.
Zetsu stops the flow of aura from leaving the body altogether. By closing all of my Aura Nodes, I can halt all outflow of aura like water from a valve, making my presence much harder or even impossible to sense. I can't hunt anything yet but this will come in handy later on.
Ren focuses on outputting a larger amount of aura than Ten, projecting it outwards explosively. One can train their Ren to extend its duration and increase the amount of aura at their disposal. Through training every day these past 3 years, I've accumulated quite a lot of aura.
Hatsu is one's personal expression of Nen. This can be described as my intent or what I want to use it for whether it's making chains to fight or nen bow and arrow to shoot with.
I haven't met any nen users so I can't tell how I'd fare in the basics but I'd say I'm pretty decent.
I head back home bringing a basket full of berries, easy to get with nen enhanced body.
My dad isn't around much. Surprising enough he goes into the woods with two other men and secures meat for everyone. My dad's a hunter?
The only problem is that they aren't very good. They haven't managed to catch anything in 2 days and the village is going to have to go into their food reserves soon.
Rationing food is difficult for everyone. Which has resulted in my moms becoming so skinny. She pushes food my way so I stay strong but one day It will be my turn to feed you.
[Tsk. I need to hurry up and help bring food in]
Guess it's time I developed some nen abilities.
