The sun rose slowly into the sky over the ever-busy streets of Los Angeles California. Every day was the same for Rose, a 21-year-old college student at USC. She loved her daily routine but also is bored with it, she longs for change but also fears it.
Rose groans annoyedly as she hears the alarm on her phone go off because it signals the start of another boring day. "Ugh, 5 am already?" She asks with a tired frustration as she stops her alarm. Slowly sitting up in bed she stretches and yawns before flopping back down, she hated mornings and today was no different.
She lays there for a few minutes and ends up falling back asleep just before her next alarm goes off causing her to let out a loud groan of annoyance as she sits up and turns off that alarm as well. "I'm thankful I set so many alarms but I hate them as well." She sighs to herself as she stands up and heads to the bathroom.
Rose knows if she doesn't set alarms for every fifteen minutes in the mornings she would oversleep and miss every class. She was never a morning person and she has a bad habit of losing track of time so combining mornings with her absentmindedness with time is a terrible thing in itself.
As her morning drags on and she readies herself for the day, Rose finds her mind wandering to thoughts of her future. She sees herself graduating college with honors, something she is striving for and working hard on achieving. She also sees herself getting her dream job and making tons of money so she will never have financial troubles.
Another alarm goes off causing her face to grow red from anger and frustration. "Alright! I get it I need to hurry up so shut up already!" She yells at her phone as she stops the alarm and looks at the time. "Shit." She curses before grabbing her backpack and running out of her apartment.
"I really need to get my shit together." She curses herself as she gets into her car and starts it. She hates being late above anything, that's why she has so many alarms set but even with them she still manages to barely make it to class on time most days.
The drive to the college is short and easy today which made her happy as she parked her car in the student parking lot. Today marks the last day of school before graduation which means she gets to see all her friends one last time before she moves on.
"Goodbye to everything I know here and hello to a new chapter in my life." Rose says in a sad and disappointed tone as she grabs her bag and gets out of the car.
"Hey, Rose!" Her best friend Violet shouts excitedly as she rushes up and hugs her tightly.
"Hey, Vi." Rose replies with a smile as she hugs her back.
"Ready for the last day of college?" Violet asks while smiling brightly, obviously happy that school is ending.
"I am but I'm not." Rose replies with a sigh as they start walking to class.
"Ready to move on but also nervous to do so huh?" Violet asks her friend in a soft tone. Rose nods her head yes causing Violet to sigh heavily. "I knew that was the case. Anyone else would be excited but you are so nervous. You really need to loosen up Rose and be happy you get to do new and exciting things."
"I know Vi." Rose sighs before looking around her and seeing someone she didn't plan on seeing. "Help." She whispers to Violet which made her stop and look.
"You owe me for this." Violet whispers in a low and annoyed tone before plastering on a fake smile. "Hey, Jacob, good to see you again how about we go talk somewhere more private?" She asks sweetly as she grabs his arm and pulls him away.
Rose whispers a thank you to Violet as she walks away with Jacob, Violet looks back with annoyance but understanding in her eyes as she leads the tall blonde haired man far away.
Rose has a bad history with guys and Violet knows this which is why she helped without an issue. Guys swoon over Rose easily and there is always someone trying to win her heart. All too often there are fights between the guys that try to court her and there is always the crazed ex that stalks her for a while, this time it's Jacob.
Rose makes her way to class and smiles as she sees Violet walk in right as the bell rings. She sits beside her and gives her an aggravated look and mouths 'you so owe me' to Rose who just sighs and nods.
By the end of the day, both girls were exhausted from dodging guys and trying to make it to their classes. "Girl I don't know if I should be jealous or thankful that I don't have what you have!" Violet whisper yells to Rose as they reach her apartment building.
"Be thankful Vi, it's a curse, not a blessing." Rose replies as she takes out her key and opens her door.
"I'd think it's both..." Violet replies before trailing off in shock at what she sees before her.
"Like I said." Rose growls as she glares at the man that's sitting on her living room couch. "Get out before you end up dead or behind bars." She says in such a firm and menacing tone that she gave Violet chills.
"Feisty. I like it." Jacob smiles as he stands up and walks over to them.
Rose silently signals Violet to leave and call the police by tapping her thigh three times with her finger. They developed this silent signal the first time this happened. Rose would distract the intruder while Violet ran for help.
"Be careful." Violet whispers before slipping away quickly.
"How'd you get in?" Rose asks firmly while giving Jacob a cold stare as he stands in front of her.
"The door of course. Your lock isn't very secure." He grins at her as he looks her body over for the millionth time it seems.
"I told you before that I don't want you Jacob so leave me alone." She says in a harsh tone as she shoves past him into her apartment, he grabs her and pulls her to him which causes her to turn and slap him hard across the face. "Leave me alone!" She screams loud enough for everyone else in the building to hear.
"I won't Rose! I love you!" Jacob shouts as he keeps a firm grip around her waist.
The words he just said she has heard a thousand times before so she rolls her eyes at them and continues to fight to get free from his grasp. This isn't the first time she's been in this situation and it won't be the last, that much she's sure of.
"But I don't love you now let me go!" She shouts again as loudly as she can before she hears the familiar sound of running coming down the hall. "In here!" She screams mere seconds before she sees a pair of police officers enter her apartment.
"Let her go now!" One of them shouts in a firm tone as his hand hovers over his taser. Jacob glares at him for a second before releasing his grip on Rose, she quickly moves away allowing the police to tackle him to the ground and handcuff him. "I wish we wouldn't have to come here so often Rose." The officer sighs as he looks at her sadly.
"Me too Jack...me too." She replies sadly as she watches them leave. Seconds later she sees Violet walk up with a pained expression on her face. "I'm ok Vi, you can go home and rest." Rose holds up her hand signaling her to stop.
"You sure?" Violet asks with concern and uneasiness in her voice.
"Yes, Violet I'm positive. If I need you I'll call you." Rose says with a reassuring smile as she starts to close the door. "I'll see you tomorrow at graduation."
"Ok, goodnight Rose." She sighs, defeated as she turns away.
"Goodnight." Rose replies as she closes the door and locks it.
Rose looks around the room and groans at the mess before throwing her hands into the air and heading to her bedroom. She's so used to this it's pathetic and it infuriates her greatly.
"Why me? What is it about me? Why can't I be invisible?" She asks out loud to herself as she grabs her bathrobe and a towel before heading into her bathroom to take a long hot shower.
After her relaxing shower, Rose felt a lot better. The hot water relaxed her greatly along with the soothing scents of her body wash and shampoo, despite the irony she loved Rose scented things. The scent was heavenly to her and relaxed her more than she would admit. If she could she would live in a rose garden the rest of her life.
Rose dressed in her comfy pajamas before grabbing a book and laying on her bed to read before falling asleep. She grabbed the latest cheesy romance novel that she got from the library and began to read. She won't admit it but she loves romance stories despite her disbelief that love actually exists in the real world.
Love is fictional to Rose because she's never experienced it despite the endless declarations of love that she's received over the years she just doesn't believe it. Love is fake and is best suited for fairy tales and fictional stories and not for the real world.
An alarm snaps rose from her trance and causes her to groan as she looks at her alarm. "11 pm." She sighs as she places a bookmark in her book and places it on her nightstand. She plugs her phone in to charge and turns off the light before pulling the blanket up and cuddling her pillow tightly in her arms and falling asleep.

The next morning Rose awakens to her usual alarm, she sits up in bed and groans loudly as she shuts off the alarm and plops her head back down on her pillow.
Minutes later another alarm goes off causing her to practically scream in frustration. "I...hate...mornings." Rose growls as she gets out of bed and gets ready for the day.
She goes to her closet and takes out her graduation outfit and admires it. She smiles as she runs her fingertips over the soft fabric and admires the seams. "Beautiful." She smiles as she strips off her pajamas and puts on the beautiful red dress that hugged her curves perfectly.
She looks in the mirror and smiles happily as she admires herself. The dress compliments her body well and her long shiny blonde hair compliments the dress as does her green eyes. When she bought the dress the cashier mused about how her hair was like the sun, her eyes were the grass and the dress was the roses she smelled of as she scanned her items. This revelation made Rose smile more as she purchased the dress, she loved the irony of the simple things in life.
A smile still on her face she brushed her hair before grabbed a pair of black heels and slipped them on then grabbed her black purse and headed to out the door. She made her way to her car and drove to the school without an issue and began her search for Violet.
Minutes pass and she hadn't found her but did manage to make eye contact with a man she had never seen before. She stood there staring at him before he smiles and starts to walk over to her which made her heart sink. "Not again." She whispers to herself just before he reaches her.
