Ray keeps rose wrapped up in his arms throughout the concert, gently swaying to the music with her as they listen to different bands play various types of music. Both of them feeling happy and relaxed with each other which amazes them both greatly, they haven't felt this way before and it intrigues them but also scares them.
"Well, you two are cozy!" Violet shouts from beside them as her and Hunter move through the crowd. "I almost didn't recognize you guys."
"Me either, I have never seen him so relaxed and cozy with a girl." Hunter teases causing Ray to glare at him. "Chill out man."
"Keep your mouth shut then." Ray growls at him which made Rose turn and look at him with concern.
"What's wrong?" She asks as she examines his face for any clue as to why he's upset.
"Nothing." He sighs and hugs her. "Want to go have dinner now?"
"Yeah, we can." She replies and looks over to Hunter and Violet who just nod their heads yes. "Let's go."
Ray smiles and takes her hand and leads them through the crowd and back towards the exit. "I like your dragon." Violet says happily as they walk through the fair.
"Ray won it for me." Rose replies happily and smiles as she hugs it a little tighter.
"That's so cute!" Violet squeals happily.
Hunter looks at Ray with amusement which made him glare at him. "Not a word Hunter." He growls.
"But it's so cute that you won Rose a prize. You don't normally do stuff like that." He teases him with a big smirk on his face.
"Shut up jackass." Ray snaps
"Ray, just leave him alone." Rose says in a soft tone as the exit the fair.
"Fine." Ray grumbles as he unlocks the car and they get in.
"We had Black Angus last time so how about Claim Jumper this time?" Ray asks with a smile and looks at Rose as he starts the car and they drive off.
"I never been there so why not?" She shrugs her shoulders and smiles.
"You've relaxed a lot since we first arrived at the fair Rose. I don't think I ever saw you so relaxed with a guy before." Violet smiles.
"That's because I haven't been so relaxed with a guy before." Rose says almost sadly.
"What's wrong with it?" Ray asks with concern and looks over at her.
"Nothing Ray. I'm just really cautious with guys. No offense. It's just how I am." She sighs and leans against the window.
"I understand why." He sighs as well and reaches for her hand and holds it gently. "I promised you that you're safe with me and I mean it." He says sincerely and brings her hand up to his lips and gently kisses it.
"Ok who are you and what have you done with Rainn?" Hunter asks with shock evident in his voice.
"I am Rainn you idiot." He replies with annoyance.
"The Rainn I know has never been so nice and sweet though. What's gotten into you? Not that it's bad, it's just unusual."
"Unusual? Then how is he normally with girls?" Rose asks curiously and looks into the back seat.
"Not a word Hunter." Ray growls as he pulls into the parking lot of the restaurant.
"Ray, what are you not telling me?" Rose asks now extremely curious. "I know you're usually flirty and pushy but the fact that you keep telling him to shut up makes me nervous that you're hiding something."
Ray gives Hunter a look that could kill then looks at Rose and sighs. "Can we discuss all this after we eat?" He asks almost pleadingly.
Rose looks at him for a moment and sees the frustration and sadness in his eyes which made her wonder what he's hiding and why he doesn't want her to know. "Fine but I expect an explanation."
"Alright." He groans as he shuts off the car and steps out along with everyone else. "You girls go on ahead. I'll be there in a second."
Rose places her dragon in the seat she was in before giving him a worried look. He just gives her a reassuring smile and nods as a way of saying it's ok.
The girls look at them then decide to go ahead and head inside leaving the guys alone. Ray grabs Hunter by his shirt and quickly slams him against the car then gets in his face. "What the fuck is your problem today?!" He shouts angrily while gripping his shirt tightly.
"I can ask you the same question!" Hunter shouts back at him, he's used to Ray's outbursts so this doesn't phase him at all. "You've never been so nice around a girl before so what gives?!"
"I don't know!" Ray shouts and releases his grip on Hunter's shirt. "There's something about her that's different. I can't explain it and it's pissing me off but not as much as you trying to put me on the spot! I actually like a girl and you're trying to expose my secret! She doesn't know I like to play around and fuck a lot of girls and if she did she'd never talk to me again!" Ray is now pacing back and forth by his car while running his hands through his hair in frustration. He doesn't realize he's yelling so loudly and causing a scene.
"I knew it." Rose says in a hurtful tone while trying to fight back tears. "You are just like the other guys. Just fuck and run. Play with a girl in every way possible then drop them."
"Rose, I'm sorry." Is all Ray can say as he hangs his head. He can't say he's not like that because he is but with her he didn't plan to be and that confuses him. "I wasn't going to do that with you now."
"Now? So that was your initial intention?!" Rose shouts with anger as tears run down her face.
"It was at first but it's not anymore. I'm not going to do that to you."
"It was still your intention Ray. How do I know you aren't lying because it's still your intention?!"
"I'm not lying!" Ray shouts as he stands directly in front of her.
"How do I know that?! I hardly know you Ray but I gave you the benefit of the doubt and look what I find out! You're just like the other guys, ready to do whatever it takes to get in a girl's panties." She yells loudly with pain in her voice as she wipes her eyes.
"It's different with you Rose. Just because it was my intention at first doesn't mean it still is." Ray says as calmly as he can to try and show that he cares about her.
"Bullshit Ray. Bullshit. I've heard it all so many times before. It's all lies." She says while backing up. "Vi call is a ride home. I want to go home. I'm done with all of this." Tears are streaming down her face as she looks at Ray who looks just as pained but is hiding it. To her, it's just another trick to get her to soften up so she turns away from him.
"I'll call Zach. He'll come quick." Violet says sadly as she looks at Hunter who is standing there in complete shock at what's happening. She doesn't want to leave him but she knows her best friend needs all the comfort and help she can get right now.
"Yeah, he will, but not quick enough." Rose grumbles as she wipes her tears away yet again.
"Rose please." Ray starts walking towards her but she holds up a hand to signal him to stop which he does. "What can I do to make you believe me?" He asks sadly, he's fighting so many emotions right now and is beyond confused at himself because he usually can care less if a girl hates him but with her, he cares what she thinks.
"Nothing Ray. Absolutely nothing. I trusted you and almost got literally fucked over because I believed your lies. I'm just thankful your true intentions came out before things got deeper." She says before she starts laughing causing Violet to look at her with concern. "It's funny really. I've had up a wall for so long because I believe love is for fools and I find a guy I actually like for the first time ever and I get hurt. This just further proves my point that love really is for fools."
Ray stands there shocked at her words. He's never met anyone that saw love the same way he did. Now he is starting to understand why he felt connected with her, they share the same points of view on things. This realization pains him because he knows they could of hand something amazing but he messed it up because of his ways of life. What hurts the most is she doesn't realize any of this because she's too heartbroken to notice.
Ray is snapped out of his thoughts by the sound of a car door slamming loudly in front of him. He looks to see Rose and Violet in the car with angry yet hurt expressions on their faces as they are driven away by a guy with jet black hair. He watches as the car disappears down the street with sadness in his heart. For the first time in his life, he's hurt because of a girl and he just knows she will never talk to him again.
"I'm sorry man, I didn't expect all this." Hunter says sadly from beside him.
"You...just had to say something didn't you? Just had to keep picking at my past and bringing it up! Why couldn't you just shut your mouth the first time I told you to?!" Ray yells with rage and anger in his voice.
"I was just teasing you because of how different you were acting! You're the one that said everything!"
"Because of your constant teasing! You were pissing me off with it and I told you to stop but you just wouldn't listen! I actually like a girl for once and look what happens!"
"Because of your past actions. I'm sorry man but this is your own fault. We all kept telling you to stop treating women like toys but you didn't listen." Hunter says in almost a scolding tone and folds his arms across his chest.
"So all of this is my fault?" Ray asks as he becomes more enraged. "No. This is your fault. My past is MY business to tell not yours! I told you to stop and you wouldn't! YOU are the one that fucked everything up! I would have told her everything when the time was right. Heck, I just barely got her to trust me and now she hates me! Did you see her crying?! It's because we finally gained each other's trust only to have it snatched away because you couldn't keep your mouth shut and accept the fact that I was changing for the better!" He's now in hunters face and is ready to punch him with all his strength.
"You just want someone to blame for your mistakes." Hunter grumbles annoyedly then immediately gets punched in the face by Ray.
The two fight each other fiercely, punching each other over and over again anywhere and everywhere they can land a hit. A crowd has started to gather as the two guys fight in the middle of the parking lot. A group of guys and restaurant employees rush out to break up the fight which took a few minutes because Ray refused to let up his assault. He hasn't been that angry in a long time and the fact he's hurt that he lost someone he actually connected with pains him even more.
Once the pair are separated they look at each other with anger still evident on their faces. "Find your own way home and don't bother talking to me ever again. You ruined everything." Ray says bitterly as he stands up and heads to his car.
"Quit blaming me for your life choices! Man the fuck up and do something about this besides pinning the blame on someone else!" Hunter yells as he stands up.
Ray just ignores him and gets in the car and drives away. He'd rather be the man that knows when to back off than the one that just keeps pressing the issue.
When he arrives back home he parks the car and sighs heavily. He looks in the passenger seat and sees she left her dragon he won for her, this saddens him even more as he remembers how happy she was to have it and how she didn't let it leave her arms ever since he gave it to her. He grabs the dragon and enters his apartment and sits on the couch with it still in his arms, his mind is racing with thoughts on what he should do about this.
