Some time passed, and we gathered ourselves. We decided that we shouldn't worry about our discovery until the ghost situation was handled. We were still terrified, but we knew we needed to figure out how we were going to save Elsie.
"Do you think she's in there right now?" Peyton started walking towards the shed.
I followed behind him, "I don't think so," I responded. "Last night was the first time we saw her, and we stayed really late. She also told us to meet her here at 11:00 tonight."
He sighed, "You're right." He opened the door and stepped in, "Shouldn't we try to come up with a way to save her?"
I sat down, "We should, but we don't know enough to figure it out. Elsie said she'd explain the plan, so I don't think we need to worry about that."
Peyton was talking to me, but I wasn't listening. I kept hearing noises, but I didn't think much of them because I knew that she couldn't have been there. Time was passing quickly, it was already lunchtime, but it wasn't late enough yet. I stood up and started walking to the other end of the shed.
Peyton stood up and asked, "What are you doing?"
I turned to face him, "I don't know, I keep hearing noises and I need to know what it is."
He opened his mouth to respond, but he paused. He looked over to where the noises were coming from, "We haven't been over there, we didn't clean that spot. The worst it could be is a raccoon. We shouldn't worry."
I had to know what was over there, I just had to. I looked at Peyton, "I want to know what it is." I picked up the broom and walked slowly towards the corner. I used the broom to poke around and a raccoon jumped out and ran out the door.
Peyton eyed me with a face that said, 'I told you so.' I turned back and stared at the dusty corner where the raccoon jumped out. Something was off, I could feel it. I headed towards the door, "I need some air," I didn't even glance back. My head was pounding, my hands were shaking, I wanted to cry. I didn't want to be there anymore. I started talking to myself, "This isn't real, I don't want it to be. I want to go home. I want my life back, I can't handle this, I can't." I started sobbing and didn't realize that Peyton had followed me out.
"It's okay, It'll be okay," he sat down next to me and tried his best to comfort me. He started crying and we just sat there for about an hour, crying.
I checked my phone to see it was 2:38 pm. It's hard to pass the time when you know you're about to fight a ghost and there's a pretty big chance that you won't win, but we managed it. Finally, it was 10:57. We were waiting in the shed for Elsie, and as soon as the 10:59 changed to 11:00 on my phone screen there was a clunking noise. She greeted us and then started discussing the plan.
