Chapter 7 - The Truth

With Peyton's baseball bat, my shovel, and 'Elsie's' plan we were able to defeat the ghost. We used its plan against it. By the end of it, we both had scratches and bruises all over, there were books, shelves, and a bunch of other stuff all over the ground. The shed was a mess.

The smaller ghost thanked us, and then explained to us everything that had just happened. "I am Elsie. That was the ghost that took my life when I was a kid. It pretended to be another little boy and tricked me into thinking I needed to save him. I discussed the plan with him and followed through with it. After I got rid of the harmless little boy's soul I realized I made a major mistake. That evil ghost tricked me, the same way he tried to trick you," I started crying and Peyton hugged me. Elsie continued to explain, "That monster took my life and has been trying to find a new kid to trick for years. I'm so glad he found people with brains this time."

After some time passed, we had calmed down. Peyton and I were just about to head home when we remembered what we found behind the shed earlier. We had just said our goodbyes to Elsie and were heading out the door when I stopped and turned to her, "Wait, I have one more question."

She looked confused but asked, "what is it?"

Peyton and I led her out to the back of the shed to show her what we had found earlier that morning. We pointed at two empty graves labeled, 'Peyton Cleft' and 'Quinn Mercer'.

Elsie went silent for a minute. She was just staring at the gravestones, then she said, "He made those." She led us over to another area behind the shed and points at another grave, "That's mine. When he finds a new victim, he makes a new grave."

After we did finish asking questions, we said our last goodbyes to Elsie, and we headed home.
