Adora observed the Academy for a moment as he lost himself to the feelings of anticipation and admiration. His eyes were bright and shiny as he looked around.
"Mr. Daniel, aren't you excited to be here? I can't believe I'm here at all, it feels like a dream." Adora spoke with suppressed excitement.
"I certainly am, but it doesn't look all that special to me, and the only thing I've heard in passing is that it's a prestigious academy. But the view is certainly something else." Daniel stared at his future home with nervousness.
Adora brought his attention back to Daniel. He realized he had forgotten his amnesia.
"I apologize Mr. Daniel. Allow me to explain." Adora took a moment to collect his thoughts.
"I grew up hearing stories about this academy which was founded seventy years ago. It was a hope for everyone who had no status within society, the commoners, in other words. At first, everyone believed this to be a ploy. The nobles were never good samaritans, and every move of theirs carried a cost." Adora reminisced about the way his father talked passionately regarding The Myriad Specter.
"The Myriad Specter and his father traveled the three kingdoms and recruited lots of promising talents among the commoner population. The only requirement for enrollment was no cultivation and a grade C talent at a minimum. A few years later, The Myriad Sentinel Academy made a name for itself. The class of 01 went on to become elite specialists in the Sentinel Legion. Every one of them contributed to the victory we achieved in the first Dark War, granting them a prestigious reputation that none of the royal academies could ever hope to achieve." Adora returned his gaze to the academy, where he spotted a square building, a rectangular building, and a tower that pierced the clouds off in the distance.
As Daniel listened to Adora's explanation, he understood the kind of opportunity that he had chanced upon.
'I will aim to be the best version of myself by the time I graduate from this academy.' Daniel's heart burned with determination.
"Thank you for explaining why this academy is the most prestigious academy in the Western Lands." A sweet and soft-spoken voice was heard from behind them.
Daniel and Adora turned around casually but were soon stunned for a moment. The person who stood before them was a beautiful blonde girl with green eyes, whose height didn't reach their shoulders.
"Hello Daniel, Adora. My name is Enise, and I will be acting as your tour guide for today." Anise smiled softly as she observed the two boys.
Daniel simply smiled and nodded in understanding. Adora attempted to speak but in the end, he gave up after stuttering for a few seconds.
'Hehe, he's developed a crush! I'ma need to roast his ass later for stuttering like a fool.' Daniel chuckled to himself while Adora turned bright red in embarrassment.
"Alright, walk with me, please." Anise started walking towards the academy. If you were to look at the academy from the viewpoint of a map, the entrance, as well as the mountain there arrived at, was located at the northeastern corner.
As they walked and followed the path that led towards the center of the three buildings far ahead, Daniel couldn't help but label the academy a ghost town, he could've sworn that were people frolicking about thirty minutes ago.
"As you may be wondering why such a prestigious academy is currently a ghost town the answer is rather simple. The lessons and courses are rigorous. Such that a few decades ago, The Myriad Specter opted to implement a session break. For a few hours out of the day, students get to do whatever they want, aside from their designated resting time, that is. They were all out here since sunrise, and around this time they all head to their dorms to rest before their classes resume." Anise explained gracefully as she continued to walk. Occasionally she would turn to look back at the boys who were still captivated by the scenery.
Adora made an "Oh, so that's why" expression, while Daniel simply nodded.
Once they walked for a few tens of minutes, they came upon a large field. It was so long that they could barely see where the field ended. The field itself was made up of grassy hills and scarce oak trees.
"This is the Field of War, it's mainly used to train students in Obstacle Courses, War Simulations, and Arena Competitions," Anise spoke with a hint of excitement in her voice. Her eyes lit up as she continued to talk about the field of war.
"The coolest part about this field is not the stuff that happens within, but the terraforming one can do! There a Circles within the Academy that focus on different interests. They are similar to the clubs of the Royal Academies, but they hold more authority here. Anyway, you can reserve the Field of War once your Circle gains enough contribution points, and from there, you get to choose what sort of place you want the Field of War to be for a day ." Anise only became more animated as she continued to explain the field of war.
"Last year, one of the seniors created a cool game that went on to be the most popular game of the year! She called it 'The floor is lava' The field would literally turn into a field of lava, with only a few rock islands placed around. The players would try to push each other into the lava using any means necessary. The final match of the Field game was a hundred players vs. one hundred players!" Anise jumped up while throwing her fist into the air.
After she realized she had forgotten proper etiquette, she became embarrassed and continued the walk silently.
'Terraforming?? Well, I guess I shouldn't be too surprised by such a thing. My armor reacts to my thoughts, how is that any different than terraforming.' Daniel felt his heart begin to beat faster in anticipation!
