The sound of crackling whips, screams of pain and agony echo through the dark and moldy walls of the dungeon. Whispers of the victims could be heard through the thin stone walls. This is the place where faith and hope is tested...It is also the place where I am imprisoned in...
My lifeless eyes stare off into the wet ceiling of the room as the noise of lost souls haunt my mind and despair fills the air...
For 3 years...I have been accustomed to this environment. Endless suffering as demi-humans scream out for anyone to help. I curl up from my position, feeling the scars of the whips on my back. My scales harvested, and my horns cut. Blood runs down from my wrists and ankles. Sickness slowly eating away from my body...This is the type of pain I had to endure in this environment.
Day by day, I endure men dragging me out of my cell and giving me immeasurable pain. At first, screams escape from my body as every hit of the whip slash against my body. Now, this type of pain has been part of my body ever since I was bought. The men who hold the whip laugh in enjoyment as they are watching various species, Demi-Humans, suffer. Whispers of lost hope scatter around the dungeon as they tell of the king ordering all demi-humans to be either executed or put to work.
However, a small flame still burns within me. The symbol of my hope...The necklace my mom gave me. I grasp the bone pendant as I rest in the rotting cell. As long as this necklace rests on me, I will never give up, no matter the cost...
I came back to reality as a man opens my door. I immediately knew what that signified and obediently walked to get it over with. After hours, it finally ended. I collapsed on the cot as blood runs down my whole body. My consciousness slowly fading away as I slowly close my eyes. But before that could happen. A warm orange light filled the room.
The light got brighter and brighter by the second, but before I could know where it came from, I was out cold.
I woke up to see myself standing in the middle of the hallway with chains cut and bars bent. With a surprised and confused feeling, I looked around as to know what could've happened when I was unconscious. To make myself even more confused, I saw the walls painted with charred black cinders along with men, lying on the floor with burnt clothing. As I kept looking around in confusion, some thugs spotted me and started charging towards me. In a state of panic, I started running away from them. I ran through the damp hallways of the dungeon, hoping to find a way out. After some time, I finally found stairs leading up. I ran up them and burst through the door that was at the top of such stairs. I stopped to take a quick breath, but as soon as I heard the thugs come closer by the second, I ran with all my might, hoping to find anyone who might be willing to help me.
The sound of thunder fill the grey skies as heavy rain poured down on the town. I ran through the streets in nothing but ragged clothing, bare feet, and no thought of where to go. I looked behind me and saw the thugs still keeping chase. I dashed around the corner, only to see a wall blocking the alleyway. Fright filled my body as I heard a set of footsteps halt behind me. I slowly turn around and saw the thugs who have now cornered me.
"The boss sin't going to like this..."
"He is going to have to punish you himself"
They laugh as they made those comments. I walk backwards in fright as I leaned against the wall. They inched closer as I was there, helpless as always...
I closed my eyes and crouched down whilst covering my head. Tears escape my eyes as I grit my teeth. "Mom...Dad...Please save me..." I mutter those words in hopes of anything that could help me now...
Soon after, loud thuds were heard followed by metallic footsteps. I slowly open my eyes to see who or what was in front of me. With a tired and tortured body, I could only make out a hooded silhouette. I tried to mutter out words to answer the questions in my head, but had no strength to do so. The figure knelt down in front of me, slowly raising his hand. I quickly reeled back in fright as I expected myself to be hit or be killed right there, but something different happened.
As the figure reached out to me, it grabbed me into a warm embrace. I couldn't do anything then, but only succumb under the pressure of fatigue and pain.
