Chapter 12 - Chapter 12 Catch Me

Chapter 12 Catch Me

"You sure you don't need the harness?" a brunette girl with boyish short hair asked her. She had a few green highlights on the right side of her hair, thick hipster glasses and around three piercings on each ear. Written on her green shirt were the words 'Acting Prop Master'.

"I'll be fine," Yingxue claimed confidently. Her wrist had finally healed up properly from the incident at school and Dr. Rey had given the okay. They had already postponed the wild endeavor for a week now and she didn't want it postponed any longer. Beyond any doubt, it was now the moment for her to shine more than she ever had. She didn't want any strings attached, literally speaking. "Even if I do end up falling.. the crowd will catch me."

"Heh. If you say so," the girl shrugged. She continued to do the final checks on the many ribbons draping down from the concert venue ceiling. It would be more preferable if Yingxue π˜₯π˜ͺπ˜₯𝘯'𝘡 fall. Regardless of how on good terms they were with the boss, he was still too scary when it came to Yingxue.

"We're all set this side in section A."

"Section B is a go."

"Slight problem in section C but the maintenance crew will have it fixed in five."

"Copy that," the tomboyish girl affirmed into her earpiece. She then turned back to Yingxue one last time. "We should be ready for you completely in ten minutes. Added on an extra five just in case. Is your mic in securely?"

"Should be no problem. Rouhe fixed it up nice and tight," the young star assured her.

"Great!" She then changed the subject and mused curiously. "Hehe. I can't believe 𝘩𝘦 finally let you do this."

"Uurgh.. Don't mention it. Had to practice the stunts a hundred times before he finally gave the okay," Yingxue rolled her eyes. "Even then he watched me rehearse it another ten times before he was fully satisfied. I'll be ripped at this rate."

The acting prop master laughed heartily. "Hahahaha! So typical of him."

A few minutes of chatting and preparing later, the brunette girl's earpiece sounded. "Boss, all sections' preparations complete."

"Got it," she answered. Both her face, and the singer's face turned serious. "Yingxue, it's almost time. You ready?"

Yingxue nodded and walked to her designated platform.

The acting prop master proceeded to contact the acting technical head on her earpiece. "Rouhe, we're ready for you."

At the other side of the venue, behind the stage, a young man with dark silver highlighted hair gave a devilish grin at the words in his ears. "Affirmative. Thanks for the hard work, Noah."

"Can't lose to you now can I," Noah teased tauntingly. Both seniors and close friends to the young rising star.

.....

It was a weekend concert. Even on weekdays the venues were sold out but it was specifically during weekends that even outside the venues people crowded the place. They may not be able to see inside physically but the vibrations, the crowd, the music and the mood would still reverberate all the way out to where they were. Besides, they could still watch it live on their phones while feeling the crowds fervor through the walls behind them. It was a source of enjoyment.

Many establishments at this moment had their tv screens on showing the concert live in an attempt to attract more customers and it was safe to say that it worked.

If people weren't watching it at home, they were watching it while out to eat. In comparison, weekdays weren't nearly as hyped due to people having school and work.

It were the weekends where Yingxue's concerts would be viewed live the most, with numerous eyes judging the event. It was known that the majority of the North loved Yingxue but there were always those who wanted to get ahead, or people that just jumped on the hate bandwagon.

However those voices were few, and if they did expose their negativity, unless the words claimed had substantial value, they would be swarmed by people claiming themselves as snowflakes.

The concert had finally started, and people beyond the screens were patiently waiting for the young siren to appear.

.....

Silence.

Darkness.

Standing above thousands of people, all she felt was calm. Gripped within her hands was nothing but a very long and soft satin-like pink ribbon dangling at the edge of a 50m drop.

As if anticipating the show to start soon, the crowd was in stillness. No one knew where she would appear from but they could all feel her presence coming soon.

Moments later blue lights shined across the dark concert hall, a clear indication of the event beginning. Slow, mysterious music started to play, engulfing the entire venue.

Taking a deep breath, Yingxue parted her lips and hummed a sweet melody.

There were no words spoken, just her melodious voice mesmerizing every single person that had the chance to listen. Even those watching live on television had to stop speaking, afraid they might ruin the experience.

She sung in a way that was almost magic, reaching high notes that were almost impossible for most, then bringing them down low in a heartbeat, creating a mystical and alien tune.

Eyes darted around the place, searching for that singing figure. The more they heard, the more they wished to see her angelic arrival. The sound of her voice was too beautiful to completely describe; supernatural, soulful, mesmerizing and even chilling were a few. As if a siren was released upon them, they couldn't fight back. They craved her.

The music gradually became more upbeat and somewhat suspenseful. The crowd knew it was almost time for the young singer to appear. They looked around even more restlessly but couldn't see even a glimpse from within the dim lighting.

It wasn't until the chilly blue lights began to scatter around like snowflakes and a single spotlight focused high above that they saw her.

Standing edges from falling was the girl they so feverish wished for; Yingxue. The camera focused on her singing figure, emphasizing her appearance on the big screen. Everyone felt their breath being taken away the moment she looked straight into the camera.

She was utterly gorgeous.

Dressed in a short blue crystal like dress, she had small snowflakes adorned from her hair to her legs, creating an ethereal ice fairy beauty affect. On her feet she had on what looked like ballet shoes that were tied almost up to her knees in ribbons. Her black hair had white strips in between and braided down all the way to her waist. Her violet eyes accentuated by the fantasy makeup made them appear all the more bright, leaving viewers with pounding hearts when they looked into them.

This was their Yingxue. A goddess.

Suddenly, before anyone could get their heads wrapped around the image they were seeing, the music stopped and Yingxue stared straight into the camera. Everyone wondered what was going on but they knew she always had surprises in store. Only this surprise would be more than what they had bargained for.

After a moment of silence, Yingxue gave the most playful stunning smile and finally uttered, "Catch me."

She jumped.
