As soon as I received my guild card, which acts as identification allowing me to travel to near any country for free. I headed over to the D-Rank quests and looked through them.
I immediately drew my attention towards the quests for extermination or subjugation. I looked at a quest in which I needed to exterminate a goblin camp in the forest to the west. There had been numerous sightings of goblins in this area, as well as hunting groups that have gone missing. The goblins numbers have been estimated around 100, making the request a D-Rank request.
It seems that when goblins get together in large groups, it is a sign of a stronger goblin variant being there. This quest would be probably the most exciting quest I could grab at the moment. I went up to the counter and showed the quest to the elf at the counter.
"Hmm, this quest is very dangerous, I can't stop you from going on it. However, I advise you don't take it." the elf seemed to be concerned for me.
"Don't worry I'm good at taking out groups of enemies," I smiled. "I'm still gonna take this quest."
"Fine, don't say I didn't warn you though," the elf sighed and shook his head. As I was walking away I heard him whisper under his breath, "Humans, as reckless as always."
I slightly shook my head, if only he knew my real stats. He'd been facepalming real hard.
As I was walking out of the guild I noticed a small wooden shelf containing what looked like pamphlets. 'Great, ' I thought to myself. 'A tourist guide pamphlet. Just want I wanted, I'm guessing that god messed with my luck stat.'
According to Identify, paper can be made using {Nature Magic}. That is how they can produce such quantities of these. I picked up the pamphlet and quickly scanned through it, noting down several things into memory. Mostly the map of the city, an inn and a couple of shops that I'll need to visit once I get some money.
I quickly head out of the guild and head towards the west gate, which was on the opposite side of the kingdom. As I reach the gate, the guards let me through with a glance at my guild ID. I walk into the forest and immediately head towards the large congregation of auras that I can sense.
As I approach the goblins, I search quickly for the strongest aura and I spot it.
[Hobgoblin: Rank D monster, a slightly evolved version of the [Goblin: E-rank] monster. Evolved to have a taller and more muscular body. Leading it to be able to surpass that of a normal human.]
Looking at the Hobgoblin, it does just seem like a taller goblin. Goblins seem to be about a meter tall while hobgoblins are nearly two meters tall. Just about as tall as me. I quickly appear in front of the hobgoblin and punch it with a straight shot to the jaw.
The hobgoblin instantly died. The hobgoblins head popped like a balloon from my fist. It was quite a comical sight. I shook my head and proceeded to eliminate, no, slaughter, all of the goblins. Within less than a minute from the first strike, I had slaughtered all of the goblins plus 2 hobgoblins.
Yeah, I need some harder quests. I head back to the guildhall and hand in the quest, while the elf looked at me in disbelief. I handed him a sack of green feet because I kinda blew up all there heads and couldn't grab their ears. I stank quite badly. Although no one in the guild seemed to be affected.
"Ah yes, of course, I'll take the goblin feet and go confirm the number real quick." The elf disappeared into the back and about 2 minutes came out with 3 silver coins. "Here is your money, I have confirmed that there are 104 different goblin feet in the bag and 2 hobgoblin feet, your reward will be 3 silver. Have a good night."
I walked out of the guild and realized that the sun was setting, it had been quite an eventful day. I headed towards the inn that I had chosen and walked in. The place was bustling with people eating and drinking. Some pretty waitresses were ruining around handing out tankards of ale and plates of food.
I walked up to the counter which behind stood a middle-aged woman who was quite large. "I would like to rent a room for 7 days please," I told the woman.
"With or without meals hun?" she asked.
"Uh, without meals, ma'am," I said.
"Alright that'll be 10 copper a night, so the total being 70 copper," the woman smiled at me and held her hand out. I placed 70 copper in her hand, and she handed me a key with a small wooden tag attached to it. On the tag, it said {Room 12}.
"Just head to the left and go up the stairs to the 2nd floor and head down the hallway, you'll find it on your right." I walked up the creaky wooden stairs and walked down the hallway. I entered the room and realized how medieval this world is, and how inconsistent. Oh well, anything is better than sleeping in the forest I guess, but I kinda forgot that I don't sleep.
Time to meditate till morning I guess. I sit down on the bed of the room, it making a slight creak as it adjusts to the new weight put upon it. I could feel the wooden frame through the mattress and thought, "This world is cool and all, but I think I'm gonna miss modern life more then I thought I would."
I meditated till early morning, as soon as the sun rose through the window in my room, my eyes opened. I stood up and stretched out my body that hasn't moved for 9ish hours. I walked down the stairs and headed out into the streets. I walked down the road in the direction of a clothing shop.
Walking into the store, I noticed no one was there, but I could hear someone moving around in the back. "Hello? Anyone home?" I said with a slightly raised voice to gain their attention.
"Ah of course! A customer!" Yet another elf came rushing out of the back with a little bit of sweat on his forehead. "What can I help you find?"
"I'm looking for some new clothes, not quite sure what I want." I look around the store before locking my eyes on a specific set of clothes that called out to me. In front of me was a dark blue and white shirt that hangs down to about the thighs, along with dark grey pants. There was a brown and white belt that had a satchel on it and seemed as though I could attach many more things to it. Lastly, was the black cloak that was sitting on its shoulders. Overall, it looked very cool.
"How much for all of that?" I pointed to the clothes I was looking at.
"Those are made from some high-quality materials, sir. It would cost you 50 silver. It would be considered very lavish even by some noble's standards."
"I'll take it," I said, immediately handing him the 50 silver. "I also need some new shows, preferably boots"
"Yes! Right over here we have some high-quality boots made from the leather of a brown salamander." The boots he pointed to were made of salamander leather, they were mostly brown but the soles and the outline of the cuff were whitish-gray. It would compliment my whole outfit very well.
"I'll take them, how much are they?"
"Five silver sir, they are made from a C-Rank beast after all." The elf smiled at the influx of money he was earning today. I handed him the silver and took all of the clothes back to the inn so I could change into them. "Please come again!" The elf shouted as I was on my way out.
When I got back to the inn I immediately paid the inn-lady for entrance for a bucket of lukewarm water and a washcloth for 5 copper. I washed myself down before changing into my new clothes. One of these days I should get my hands on some soap, that would be nice. After washing my self, I dispose of the water and hand back the bucket and cloth to the woman.
I felt much more confident in my new clothes. They were soft and didn't restrict my movements, which was good. I didn't want to have clothes that would screw me over in battle. The next course of action was to buy a sword and maybe armor.
I headed straight to the blacksmith while thoroughly enjoying my new clothes that didn't smell like sweat and blood. I walked into the blacksmith and found yet another elf. However this one was jacked, he's like three times my size.
Anyways, I looked around at the blacksmith's stocks and didn't like any of the swords I saw. I was always a fan of humongous swords, I thought they looked badass and funny as hell sometimes. Plus all these swords were way too light, I could probably throw them to space by accident. Even the great swords and longswords were too light for me to handle properly. It would probably help if I knew more about swords and how to use them, but that's beside the point.
I decided to ask the blacksmith, "How much would it cost for a custom sword?"
The blacksmith replied with, "It all depends on how much you are asking for."
"Do you have a paper and something to draw with?" I asked.
"Sure do. Hold on a minute." The blacksmith gave me the paper and a writing utensil.
I drew a sword that I think would be good for me. It was a long sword with an abnormally thick blade. The blade would be about as thick as my torso and long as my body. I drew it with a comically small handle and decided it was good.
"You think you can do that for me?" I asked while pointing at the paper.
"Hmm, I might be able to do it. It is an interesting request! It'll be a first for me so, it may take a while!" The elf looked ecstatic, he was roaring with laughter. "It'll probably cost you a pretty penny so I'll take a down payment of about 20 silver."
"Alright! I can't wait to use it. Try to make the blade as heavy as you can please!" I shook his hand and gave him the 20 silver. I then left the blacksmith and decided to head to the guild to get a quest.
