Chapter 4 - Cultivation

The monsters are starting to get annoying, every time I sense one I have to stop what I'm doing and hide in the trees. I'm almost to where I need to be in strength, just a couple more days, then I can beat these idiots, well hopefully.

**Couple Days Later**

Finally, after a month and a half of being a total idiot. Doing exercises in the jungle, I have been able to unlock my cultivation technique. The feeling of unlocking it was like no other, It was a rush of information piling into my head, so much of it. I still can't see most of the damn thing. Just the basics to get me started. It looks like God didn't want me to know anything ahead of time and put multiple blocks on the technique. I could somehow feel how massive this technique was. The portion I unlocked was easily the length of a published novel.

There were 2 main parts to the part I unlocked. The first being a new meditation technique. It builds off of the first meditation technique I had. This technique first requires you to consume as much mana as you can before you close off your entrances. Then it's the same as the original, just spread and condense.

Secondly, I learned how to integrate a monster's or beast's mana into myself. Being able to gain skills or even stats from the thing I killed. Not quite sure how it worked, I just knew how to do it. I will have to figure out how something like this even works in the future.

Now, the real fun begins. I grab the crude spear that has been waiting to be used from next to me. I immediately head to the first aura I sense. As I approach the aura I take caution to not alert the monster before I spot it. Swatting away some branches, the monster finally comes into view. A wolf, pure black, sniffing the air. I quickly hide behind the branches as the wolf turns towards me, seemingly sniffing the air. 'Well, shit. Seems like it found me' I thought. I ready my spear as it starts to run towards me, I get into my stance and leap towards the clearing the wolf was standing in.

'Inspect'

[Black Wolf: A beast that is just learning how to use stealth-based magic. Mid D-rank Beast.]

Alright, not sure about the ranking since I have no proper sense of strength in this world. I quickly engage the wolf, getting in range to use the spear. The wolf, however, is too fast to be struck that easily. The wolf and I went back and forth. Neither of us able to land a strike until I mess up and get swiped by the wolf's claws on the side of my torso. I try not to scream out in pain as a warm sensation spreads over the claw mark. The claw mark disappears as my skin repairs itself.

'Hopefully, the pain is worth it' I thought. We proceeded to go at it again, this time, however, the wolf went for the same swipe at my torse like before. I quickly duck underneath the swipe of the wolf and push with all my force at the wolf's underside. Utilizing my leg and arm power, I thrust my spear towards the wolf. Leaving a bruise on impact, and shattering the spear as well. My spear is too badly made to pierce this wolf's hide. I quickly jump backward away from the wolf. Looking around for something to use as a weapon. I could not beat this wolf with my fists, at least not without dying at least once. I quickly spot a thick branch off to the left. {Inspect}

[Branch: It's a branch dumbass. Weighs 62.374kg]

'Still not so sure about that definition. Seems like someone is annoyed I inspected a branch' I shrug it off, bolting over to the branch and pick it up. Lighter then I expected, I wield it as I would a war hammer.

The wolf tilts its head in confusion towards me. It growls at me in what seemed like a mocking tone and charged at me. I grinned, as he got close enough to me I swung down the 62kg branch with all my might right on top of the wolf. The branch impacted with a resounding thud. My body felt the full brunt of the recoil, shaking up my arms and into my torso. With a dying whimper, the wolf breathed its last breath.

Well, if you can't pierce its hide, just crush its spine. Well, not just the spine, more like his whole body. As the wolf died, the mana of the beast tried to redisperse into the air. I took action before it could disappear and drew it toward my body with my cultivation technique.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!" I screamed in agony as the mana of the beast entered my body. It felt like it was ripping every cell in my body apart. My regeneration and evolution must be the only thing keeping me alive. I fall to the ground and start to writhe in agony, my body convulsing like a demon from every horror movie ever. After around 5 minutes, or what felt like an eternity for me, the pain ceased and I was able to move again. I quickly stood up and jumped into a tree, and proceeded to travel by tree far away from that place. I didn't want to fight anything that might have heard me screaming. I was lucky some beast didn't come by and eat me alive while I was out of commission. I'd be an all you can eat buffet, my body would just regenerate and you'd have more to eat. I finally come to a stop and decide to check my status.
