Within the week, I got bombarded by Alfred.
Hindi naman kami nagkabalikan, muntik lang, my Aki-chan, died because I thought she was ok the last time I saw her. Yet, she was looking at me like she's going somewhere.
And yun na nga, few days ago, she died.
I wept myself to sleep. Kurocchi my other cat is sad too.
Kaya naman, todo patawa si Alfred sa akin, they say that people tend to fall in love with others when they are in a vulnerable state.
And keeping that in mind, I didn't let myself fall again with Alfred. Tama na yung naging couple kami last time. Never again.
"I'm fine! I'll get over this, stop being a mom to me!" I shouted at him one time. But, he just smiled and said, "Ok daughter, I heard it loud and clear, you need not shout at me."
Iniwan ko na siya na tatawa-tawa. Buti na lang hindi ko ulit siya kaklase as a Senior student.
Last year, nagkataon na same kami ng classroom with Ryn Do. The power trio, I wasn't ecstatic. I was doomed.
Buti na lang, hindi ako masyado kinibo ni Alfred noon. The silver linning of that event last year was I became closer with Ryn Do my girl bff. Hindi ko na masyado sineseryoso na boy bff ko si Alfred Beet.
Sino naman kasi ang mananatiling friends after a break up?
It just means that our hasty relationship was a fail and it caused a ruin friendship to begin with.
Nagulat na lang ako na pinagka-interesan ulit ako ni Alfred maging friend. Basta friend na lang ang turingan namin. Mas maayos.
"So, daughter, ano gusto mo lunch mamaya?"
It was currently recess time. Yet, his mind is at lunch time already. So, being the me who is crazy for the moment.
"I want fast food!" I almost declared to the entire school.
"Chicken and Coke float?" I nodded.
And so, when lunch time came, I saw a delivery man walking towards me.
"Kayo po ba si Quelly Bael-Beet?" I unconsciously nodded and huli na nang mapagtanto ko na apelyido ay nadagdagan.
"Eto na kuya, thanks!" Syempre si Beet yung nagbayad. Babatukan ko na sana pero naamoy ko yung fried chicken and nagutom ako bigla. Umupo ako sa may bleachers para magsimula na kumain.
Hindi ko na pinanain pa yung nagbayad ng lunch ko, kasi I was super excited to eat the fast food.
Gosh!!! I really love chicken breading!!! If ever it's possible to marry this kind of breading, I would.
"Sana ako na lang yang kinakain mo para makita kita ngumiti." I frowned at him.
"Eww! I'm not a cannibal!" Tawa siya.
"What I meant was, sana napapangiti kita tulad ng pag-ngiti mo dyan sa pagkain."
"Hindi naman kayo pareho, nitong food, kung pareho kayo na nagpapangiti sa akin, edi sana matagal na akong patay dahil smiling too much kills."
Napahawak siya sa bibig niya, "Nakakamatay ang pagngiti?!"
And for the first time since we became friends again, I laughed my heart out.
"Idiot! Walang namamatay sa pagngiti!"
"Eh kakasabi mo lang diba?"
I looked at the gym's ceiling and continued eating my food.
"Hoy Quelly Bael-Beet!" nangalabit pa.
"You're wrong! It will always be Quelly Bael-Saige!"
Kami lang naman ang nasa bleachers noon, kaya wala ako pakialam kung medyo malakas ang pagkakasabi ko ng apelyido ko with crush.
"Uy!!! Alam niya ba? Gusto mo, ilakad na talaga kita sa kanya?" he teased.
I rolled my eyes at sumubo ng pagkain.
I sipped my coke float and said, "Shut up Beet!" And so, our normal argument started, it got to the point na may teacher na nag-interfere na sa aming argument.
I glared at Alfred and he replied with a smug face. Ito ba yung ex ko?! Nakakabuwisit talaga siya kahit kailan.
