The sky was clear and dark outside. There was a mysterious silence in the atmosphere. Sebastian played the video again and again, the more he watched the more confused he became. Until now like an untold truth he thought that the person whom they rescued from the accident spot was Adriana. But after rewatching the video, the one thing he can conclude without a doubt was that she was not the Adriana whom he knew or rather she was not her to begin with.
The counselling session was for giving Adriana a hypnotherapy to recall her past memories and to calm her by erasing the memories that were haunting her in the nightmares.
Dr. Freud started the hypnosis by showing her a spiral circle swirling on the screen. The room was arranged in a calm manner that can easily soothe the nerves .The room was completely covered with darkness with some dim lights illuminating the center of the room were a couch was placed. The only voice that can be heard was of a mild melody that can wash away all the stress build within a person. On the couch sat Adriana with her head resting on the couch and her hands folded in front. Soon, she was hypnotized and laid into a deep slumber. During the questioning session, Dr. Freud started taking her mind to the past when she was only a child . He asked her various trivial questions like her favourite colour, place, food or any important incident that happened to her.
The answers she gave surprised not only the doctor as they didn't matched the reports given to him but also to Sebastian Who was watching the video. The answers she gave was not only complete opposite to what Adriana had gone through in her life, they even matched to someone who was holding a great place in his heart.
During interrogation, Dr. Freud asked her about her parents and to which she replied that they died when she was 8 years old. She described the scene that was unfolding in her mind,
'I was eating ice-cream outside our apartment with a boy who was two years older than me, he was my neighbor . My parents told me that some guests were coming and so they send me to play outside. It was summer time and to avoid the blazing heat I insisted on staying indoors. But then my father bribed me with my favorite chocolate candies and so I left them. When I was enjoying my ice cream outside, the ground suddenly started shaking. The ice-cream fell from my hands. The people around us started running everywhere. At first I didn't realized what was happening and before I could register any of the things, someone grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the garden. It was the boy who was standing with me at the ice-cream stall, he took me to the garden and started to look around. I asked him what he was looking for and he replied, "A place to hide".
I remembered there were always big empty pipes lying in the corner of the garden. It was my best hiding spot. I took him there, we both hid in the empty pipes. He told me, "Close your eyes and don't open them until I tell you " . He covered my ears and after a little while when I tried to open my eyes to take a peek , he hugged me tightly. He told me something that I didn't hear clearly but he was shaking . I thought he was terrified so I sang the lullaby that my mother used to sing for me before tucking me in bed. He suddenly uncovered my ears and said, " Keep quiet, my cat sings better than you".
When I came out, the whole world was turned upside down. The trees were collapsed and many people were crushed under them. There were people who were injured, covered in blood. Very high screams and shoutings can be heard, drilling holes in the ears . The ambulance were coming and then going in turns, carrying the injured people and bringing first aid help with them. The foul smell of blood was mixed in the air . The sunny morning was instantly changed into a wrath that had turned everyone's fate to doom. A red fire brigade caught my attention. It was surrounded by many people who looked liked my relative's, and was trying to put out fire that had broken on our apartment. It took me some time for the realization to hit me, that it was my house that was on fire. Remembering that my parents were still there, I started running inside the building but the officers stopped me . I was running wild , screaming, shouting for my parents and when they where found it was horrible . They were on stretchers , breathing their last breaths. There last words, "Don't cry sweety . You are our sweetheart and we love you, so always be strong and keep smiling. Promise you'll find your happiness and always keep smiling" . I promised them that I'll always be happy. But when I reached the hospital and got the news that their condition was beyond saving, I broke . I cried bitterly.
Before the doctor could ask anything else, she woke up from the hypnosis. When the doctor asked if she has remembered any event due to the counselling she outright replied that if she recalls anything she'll inform him first.
After hearing her response, Sebastian started recalling all of his meetings with Adriana both, before and after the crash.
The way she reacted in the hospital and during her recovery period, weirded out everyone. It was not because she did something abnormally but whatever she said or however she behaved was very different from her previous personality.
Whenever she would make a request she tried to be down to earth. Her speech sounded too polite, for no one around her had ever heard her talk in a humble way.
Her behavior sure has changed quite a lot after the accident but everyone thought that the cause was amnesia.
A little did anyone knew that it was due to some other greater incident which no one was aware about.
He remembered that she never said that who she was rather everyone around her was telling her about her past and the memories she had forgotten , if they were her memories in the first place. He thought that she can even be a con artist, trying to get her hands on Adriana's fortune. If she was a fraud then she has actually succeeded as she was able to fool not only the outsiders but even her father or rather Adriana's father. He thought that reaching to conclusions without solid evidences won't be good. The thought of her being the person whom Sebastian was searching so frantically made him smile with glee.
