Sky's POV
It's been a week that my Twin is in the ICU. He'd undergone an operation, pero hindi pa rin siya nagigising. He has more-serious TBI, hindi 'yon basta-basta. Pero, I know kayang-kaya 'to ni Sun.
I am no longer attending class dahil wala rin akong maiintidihan. I never leave Sun, I am just here sitting, holding his hand, praying that he'll wake up now.
I miss him so much!
Veia's also been here. She's not attending class, too. And, I understand her. Pinayagan na rin siya ng Mama niya. And, no worries dahil alam naman ng lahat ng teacher namin ang nangyari, they even prayed for Sun to feel better too soon. Mom and Dad can't even focus on their work, pero kailangan nilang magtrabaho. After work dumidiretso sila rito.
"Sky, mag lunch ka muna," Veia said.
"I don't have any appetite, Vee," I replied.
She taps my back, "hindi ka na kumakain, Sky, 'pag si Sun nagising at nalamang 'di ka kumakain magagalit 'yan," she said. "Halika na, sabayan mo 'ko. Padating na rin naman sina Tito at Tita," she added.
I sighed, "hintayin muna natin sila. Ayokong iwan si Sun ng mag-isa," I uttered.
"Sige."
After a minute, I heard someone's sobs.
"V-Vee," I uttered her name, shaking. She has been crying. Titigil lang siya tapos iiyak na naman.
"S-Sky...kahit anong pilit kong ibaling ang sarili ko sa ibang bagay...hindi ko pa rin makalimutang andiyan si Sun...nakaratay at hindi pa rin nagigising...miss na miss ko na siya," she hardly speaks because she's in tears.
Agad ko siyang nilapitan sa may couch and I hugged her, "Veia," I tried my best to stay calm, "stop crying. You know how strong your boyfriend is, magigising din siya," I said, trying to make her feel relaxed.
"I know," she replied, still in tears.
Suddenly, the ECG machine made a loud noise! Sh*t! Sabay kaming napatayo ni Veia. Dumiretso siya kay Sun at lumabas naman ako to call for help.
"Nurse! Nurse!" I am shouting as I went through the nurse station.
"Sir, calm down. Anong nangyayari?" a nurse asked.
"SH*T THAT CALM DOWN! MY TWIN'S HEARTBEAT IS FALLING!" halos lahat sila nataranta.
"Here," Doc Bonifacio said. "Sky, Veia, you go outside first," he added.
"NO!" we both said in a chorus.
"Come on, please!" he begged.
"T-Tara na, Sky," Veia grabbed me, but I took off her hand. "Sky! Halika na! Sun's gonna be okay, tandaan mo 'yan! Kaya tara na nang matingnan niya na si Sun!" Veia yelled. Wala na akong nagawa kun'di ang sundin siya.
Sh*t! Hindi ko na alam ang gagawin ko!
"Sky, Veia, ba't andito ka-"
"MOM!" I hugged her immediately, "Mom...si Sun," and, I cried again.
"A-ano, what's wrong, anak?" Mom asked, worriedly.
"Bigla na lang pong nag-ingay 'yong ECG machine, Mom," I replied, still embracing her.
"Oh, God!" Mom said and I know she's started crying.
"Calm down, everyone," Dad said, pero hindi namin magawa.
After almost 30 minutes, the Doctor went out-damn, his expression seems giving us bad news!!
"The patient..." he looked down.
"Doc, ano?!" Dad asked.
"...I'm sorry, but I told you already that surgery for TBI can cause harm later. At, sinabi ko na sa inyo na maliit lang ang porsyento ng mga taong mayroong TBI ang nakakasurvive after the operation. May iba na kahit inoperahan na, mamamatay pa rin 'yong utak nila, especially if it's a more-serious TBI."
"So, sinasabi niyo ba na...brain dead na si Sun ngayon?" Veia asked between her sobs.
"I'm sorry, but yes. The operation that Sun had undergone didn't save him, hindi niya kinaya."
I interfered.
"When someone is brain dead, it means that the brain is no longer working in any capacity and never will again. They may appear alive, there may be a heartbeat, they may look like they're breathing, their skin may still be warm to touch...but, there's no life when brain activity ceases," he replied and sh*t, muntik na akong matumba, buti na lang nahawakan ako ni Daddy.
"S-Sinasabi mo ba na...SUN'S NO LONGER HAS A LIFE?!" napasigaw na ako. Hindi pwede 'yon! Hinding-hindi!
"I'm sorry, Sky, but you're right."
"TUMIGIL KA! DOCTOR KA, KAYA MONG PAGALINGIN ANG ANAK KO!" Mom shouted, enraged.
"I'm sorry, Mrs. Abellera, I've done my all best, pero hanggang doon nalang ho talaga."
NO! SH*T, NO! HINDI PWEDENG MAWALA SI SUN! HINDI PWEDE!!
"Mr. and Mrs. Abellera, I'd like to talk to you in private. Sky and Veia, you can now go inside. Talk with him," then he started walking away.
"Sasama ako, Mom," I said.
"Dito ka lang, Sky. Sige na puntahan mo na 'yong kakambal mo," Dad uttered.
Nauna nang pumasok si Veia at si Daddy naman ay sinenyasan akong sumunod na. I took deep breaths before I went inside. Veia's hugging her while she's crying to death.
"Ang sama-sama mo, Sun! Ba't biglang nagkagan'to, ha?! Sun! Gumising ka, please! Please, sige na, Sun!" she said those words while shaking my Twin's arm.
"Sun..." I whispered his name in tears, "ang unfair mo," I added as my tears continued falling.
Minutes have passed, but we're still crying.
Veia suddenly sat down in the couch, "Sky," she called me, looking at somewhere. "Before Sun passed out, he told me that he kept a paper on his favorite jacket...and if ever something bad happens...kunin mo raw 'yon."
Paper? Favorite jacket? Iyon 'yong jacket na iniregalo ko sa kanya on our 10th birthday. A-Ano naman kayang meron sa papel?
"Sky, paano ko ba 'tong tatanggapin ang mga nangyayari?" she asked and her tears started falling again.
I looked at Sun's body. My Twin...my best friend...my everything...how can you do this to me?
Paano nga ba namin 'to tatanggapin? Damn this!
