The piercing noise of the alarm clock brought Milani back from the deep pit of sleep. She wriggled and stretch within my cozy bed. Peering at the alarm clock, which displayed 12:39 pm. Getting out of bed, she wandered down the carpeted stairs which heated her exposed toes, while she rubbed the sleep out of her eyes. It felt like She'd only fallen asleep 10 minutes ago. All that hard labor work from yesterday took a toll on her body. As she walked she could hear laughter in the kitchen, she already knew judging by the screeching horse it was Jasmine.
A platter of food greeted the moment Milani slide into her armchair. Eggs, ham, fried bacon and a side of salad. "Good morning Jazzy who were you speaking to". Milani questioned while stuffing her face with Jasmines scrumptious pancakes. "These pancakes are the best and the orange juice, it's so freaking good" Milani grinned at her best friend. "Girl shut up Nothing tastes awful to you, You'll swallow anything I offer you" Jas resorted adding another pancake to Milani's plate. "They're nevertheless delicious." Milani said rolling her eyes and then sticking her tongue out resulting in jasmine to burst out in a chuckle. "Thanks boo, oh and I don't know what you're talking about I'm here all by myself." Despite her skepticism, Milani brushed it off with a chuckle.
There was something going on. Milani could have sworn she heard two voices in the kitchen. She thought, stuffing her face with pancakes she once again brushed it off. Meh I'm just drained and misheard. She questioned in her mind as she squinted her eyes at her smiling friend.
After finishing her breakfast, Milani headed to the bathroom to get ready. Once she got in the bathroom she looked at herself in the mirror hanging above her sink. "Ooh shit, Ewwww" Milani moaned out as she looked at the wreck that was her hair. "I absolutely need to wash you." She uttered yanking the shampoo bottle that settled on the counter. Once she finished washing herself up, she walked out of the bathroom strolling right back inside her room. Dropping the towel from her body, she picked up her outfit for the day. The dress concealed her shoulders and flowed down into a lovely covered neckline. It was a comfortable fit, not too loose but still not too tight. Which made the dress both enjoyable to wear and stare at. It had covered Milani's arms. The sleeves were a relaxed fit from top to bottom, giving the dress a slight casual look. The patterned pink blossoms covering the top to the bottom gave her a summer look.
After struggling with getting her slippers on she was successful. Milani plastered on some deodorant, sprayed perfume, snatched her phone and wallet, heading downstairs.
"Hey Jas I'm gonna head out to the store I'll be back by in like five to ten minutes." Nothing but silence engulfed the room. "Jasmine, hey are you even here?" The silence was like a void atmosphere, needing desperately to be filled with noises, words, anything. As Milan walked into the kitchen she felt a wave of pain spread down her lower belly, circulating around to her back, leading to her body to collapse onto the floor. Slowly, she tried to get up but immediately realized how inefficacious it was when she had to resort to biting the bottom of her lip to ease the pain away. Sharp pain laced though her body. Desperately needed for someone to help her, Milani cried out. It was the loudest most piercing shriek she'd ever produced in her life. With ever step she took deep breathes, struggling to relax. Suddenly all she could see was Chris.
"Chris what are you doing here." He scrambled to Milani's side helping her up. "I came to surprise you, are you hurt? Do you need a doctor? Are the babies ok?" It was then she noticed him in a suit. The suit was black and white...sharp-looking, and well-fitted. The sort of thing that a woman would pick out for her man to wear to a formal occasion. This made Milani curious why was he wearing a suit at two forty-five p.m. Still, it fit him well. It made him look extremely handsome, and when he smiled, it was a little seductive. "I'm fine Chris just a little pain. Why are you in a suit again?" He chuckled picking her up from the ground. "Well I was going to surprise you but then I heard you scream so I came charging in". He pointed outside the balcony, signaling for her to accompany him.
Chris walked Milani over to the door. Instantly she caught the beautiful roses surrounding two chairs and a table. Standing at the foot of the chairs stood Jasmine with an enormous grin on her face. Milani's heart was pounding as she watched Chris pull her closer to the chair. She could sense her heart in her throat as her best friends brother got down on one knee holding a little box out of his pocket. Milani tried to refrain from looking at Chris or displaying the excitement she felt at the sight of him on his knees. He smiled taking her hand. "Milani, You are something I never thought could exist for me. You are the best thing that has ever happened in my life, and I don't regret telling you how I feel. I have been through many relationships, but took none of them seriously. I wish to love and care for you, and be there for you and your children, if you would mind."
"All I request of you is to show me that you cherish me, depend on me the way I depend on you. Will you go out on a date with me? And accept this promise ring?" Chris whispered barely audible. It conflicted Milani, should she accept or should she not accept? Finally after a lengthy battle with herself, she nodded her head profusely but couldn't get the words out of her mouth. Milani was overwhelmed and felt kind of bad now that she knew what he was asking her. Tears welled up in her eyes. Wow, I'm very emotional these days. She reflected as she whipped her tears away. "Yes I'd be glad to go out with you." Milani choked out nodding variously.
Minutes turned into hours, they laughed, they chatted, they teased. The sun was setting, and the two didn't wish to part. Their hands caressed, clutching onto each other. "You're so beautiful Milani," She smiled as they gawked at the beautiful clear-full of life sky above. "Thank you Chris, you're not too bad yourself." He melted the barriers she built up after her divorce. It was unpredictable, Milani thought she could never love someone after things ended with her ex husband. Chris shared the most captivating smile, it's as if something drew her towards him. His eyes, his lips, all at once smiled at her. "You have pasta sauce on your lip." The embarrassment quickly rose in her as she stumbled for a cloth. "Where? Did I get it?" Drawing her head up Milani found Chris dangerously close to her lips.
Her eyes widened when she felt his hands fondling her face. "You're so fucking beautiful Lani." He murmured into Milani's ear, pulling her closer towards him as he gave her a kiss on the side of her cheek.
"I had an incredible time Lani I hope you did as well." Smiling Milani moved her head closer to His. He remained frozen watching her every move intensely, his eyes containing both lust and love. Milani leaned in, so their foreheads were resting against each other's. The pair both sealed their eyes, taking advantage of the moment. Milani was certain by now that both their breaths were shaking. "Thank you," He spoke in a low hoarse whisper. "For what?" Milani replied, her tone gentle. "For being you." His voice echoes into her ears.
Chris leaned in and kissed her warms lips. Fireworks instantly sparked up, sending tingles all over her body. They tore apart and took shaky, calm breaths, while their foreheads remained touching. Unable to contain the love to themselves anymore, Chris held the top of Milani's head in his palms and pulled her into a fierce and passionate kiss. For what felt like an eternity they ripped apart and open their eyes. Slowly staring at each other, deep into each other's eyes. Milani hesitantly looked up at him. "That was amazing." She gasped. "I'm glad you liked it." He smirked holding her waist.
The moment was short lived when she felt the same wave of pain from this morning struck her once again. It was like the crest of a wave similar to cramps. "Lani are you ok!?" Milani shook her head as she held her stomach in her arms. A few seconds later she felt something dripping down her leg. "Chris I think my water just broke."
He had a look in his eye She'd never seen before, pure panic. It didn't belong on his face and it terrified her. He's the one who always knew what to do. Milani thought as she huffed and puffed. "Jasmine, Lani's water broke we have to get to the emergency room right now." Then he did something Milani never expected him to do, He picked her up, rushing into his car accompanied by Jasmines small form. The trip to the hospital felt like forever as each contraction came a pain with it that dominated her entire body. They arrived at the navy double-doors of the ER. "Somebody help me my girlfriends in labor." Milani's eyes enlarged as she spun facing Chris. It looked like he was startled too from his outbreak. "Ok miss how far are your contractions." A woman in green scrubs asked helping Milani onto a wheelchair. Milani shook her head staring at the nurse while struggling to ease out the pain. "Like two minutes apart."
"Get her a room stat, ok Ms..." Smiling Milani sat down on the wheelchair they rolled in for her. "Kekoa." The nurse smiled writing on her notebook. "Ok Ms. Kekoa we will get your room ready." Milani held onto both Jasmines and Chris' hands as they rolled her into the maternity hallway.
After several minutes it was time for someone to deliver her babies. Not long after they heard two small cry echoing through the room as her babies were delivery into this world. February 8th 2018 at 9:45 pm, Milani gave birth to her handsome baby boy, and at 9:48 pm she gave birth to my beautiful daughter. The second Milani laid eyes on her baby boy and baby girl, was by far the happiest she'd ever been in her life. Milani immediately cried tears of joy. They filled her heart with so much happiness and love that it almost hurt.
In that moment she knew she could never love someone as much as she loved them. "Their angels, the cutest babies I've ever laid my eyes on" Chris and Jas chimed while Milani smile tiredly at them. This was her family she thought. A smile creeped up on her face as the nurse laid her beautiful daughter in her arms resulting in a small squeal Milani. "Chris, Jasmine, meet Alana kekoa, the new addition to our family." Milani inspected her glowing daughter kissing her forehead. She was so beautiful, she handed her to Jasmine her secret soon to be goddaughter. Jasmine eagerly took Alana out of my arms, causing everyone in the room to chuckle. The nurse grinned at Milani as she laid Milani's handsome son on her lap. "Hey baby welcome to the world, I'm your mommy. Guys meet Romeo kekoa." Romeo wraps his small hands around Milani's index finger causing her to let out a small tear. "Let's get a picture." Chris suggested as Milani nodded still holding her son. Jasmine handed the camera to the nurse while the five of them get into the picture.
Two hour passed, in her hospital room, Milani was rocking her daughter peacefully to sleep while she watched over her son. Who was now sleeping on Chris' arms, a beautiful sight. What an exhausting day. Milani sighed as she shut her eyes sending her into a peaceful dream.
