A few days passed after Milani and Jasmine discovered there would be little feet meandering around the apartment. It delighted Jasmine that she would have a little boy or girl to play with. While Milani was still perplexed and in shock. She laid in Jasmines arms weeping her eyes out. "My kid will grow up without a dad, the one thing I could give them has been seized away from me."
Jasmine pitied her friend. She had just gotten out of a marriage and now she had to worry about raising kids without a male model to support. "I-,"She stumbled, her mind racing to catch up with her mouth. "I realize darling but we'll get through this together, but first to make sure you're pregnant I'll set you up and appointment. Thus we can figure this out, starting off with telling that idiot of a husband you have he will be a dad."
Milani sought to oppose, but she knew deep down inside that Jas was right and she'd have to confess to him, eventually. Nodding she strolled back to her room. It was nine p.m. and she could sense herself drifting off. From the week of hardly getting any snooze, she foresaw this taking place. The soft bed beneath her, the warmth of the blankets draped around her. Her eyes fluttered closed. she was oblivious of what was going on around her. Thus it was just her and her dreams.
Waking up can be cruel, specifically if your dreams are stronger than reality. The bitterest part of it is, though, that eventually even the memory of your dream will vanish. Slowly and reluctantly, Milani exposed her face from the sheets. She squinted, closing her eyes, and then squinting repeatedly. Rays of sunshine penetrated through the window blinding her. Sitting up, she dragged her feet off the bed, and rubbed her knuckles onto her eyes. As she stretched her arms above her head she yawned. Milani got out of bed and stumbled across the room to the bathroom.
She stepped into the shower, toes flinching as they reached the frosty bricked floor. scrubbing her skin, lifting deliberate noting not to approach the bruises that scattered her body. The water streamed down; it drips by her face as her mind wandered off into nothingness. Milani leaned against the cold bricks as her shaky limbs threaten to cave in. A small whimper escapes her soft lips as she forced her tears to not fall. It'd been five days since she found out she was pregnant and three since her and Jasmine went to her doctor's appointment. They soon found out she was two months pregnant.
After showering Milani slumped on her bed, reliving the occasion over and over. She smiled a little, a grin with a twist to it, like the grin of a child who is determined not to break down. Milani had been becoming progressively cheerful since she found out at her doctors appointment she was very much pregnant. The sound of the heart rhythm caused her gawk in admiration. But all that joy soon left behind as she remembered she would've to inform Caesar today. Jasmine and Milani had been planning on how to tell Caesar for a few days now, and they both acknowledged on today.
Milani studied the time, then shrieked. I better get ready, it's already two, She thought as she got up and looked through the wardrobe. She bounced through her closet seeking for something seductive. A blush glided up her face. No, I couldn't possibly wear something seductive to face my ex husband. Milani blurted as she plunged back on the bed. She had to dress casually. She slipped into a pair of blue jean shorts, and a grey tank over a black tee. Milani can't remain still and her body shock nervously as She refreshed her complexion.
Analyzing the time, it was two fifty-five. Jasmine came outside with a short spring flower dress. Milani watched as her friend slid into the driver's seat, starting the engine. "You okay, babe? You look a little distant?" Jasmine suggested worried that her friend was suffering second thoughts. "No, I'm alright I just need a little fresh air." Jasmine nodded as she rolled down the car window.
Soon they arrived at the law firm where they would have their final minutes as husband and bride. Upon entering the building they guided Jasmine and Milani to the eleventh floor where they would meet up with her and Caesars lawyers. She was too miserable to scream out or wail; she knew she would have to go through with this whether or not she wished to.
Her eyes trailed around the room pausing as they latched eyes with him. The husband she knew, looked at with admiration, the guy she married, the guy she worshipped, was sitting in an armchair popping gum as if he didn't care.
Before Milani knew it her mouth uttered before she could interrupt herself. "The husband you formerly were, the one I married, would have kicked your ass all over this God damn room for treating me like this. You were someone I appreciated. The gentleman who had passion and the goodness. You stare at me like as a foreigner now, even though worse. I offered you everything you craved. Then you shattered me with your remarks and actions. I was trustworthy, sincere and devoted to you for all these years but in conclusion you treated me like dirt. I'm pregnant with your baby and you just don't care,". By the end of her rant Milani's voice quivered.
His mouth hung, with lips parted and his eyes went as wide as they could stretch. He had nothing to add after her outburst. "You're pregnant? Bullshit that's not my baby you whore, You're just struggling to make me welcome you back. You've always been after my money, I should have recognized you were a gold digger. This pathetic excuse to make me stay makes me despise you even further than I did before. I crave nothing to do with your whore product."
In his arrogant triumph, he smirked. "I handed over my soul to you, and I never accepted a gift, I never even paid for anything with your money. I've always fucking bought my shit with my money, but still get this treatment. How could you suggest this isn't your baby, you piece of shit? I've never had sex with another man other than you and deep down you recognize it's genuine." Milani huffed attacking her former companion on his chest.
"I don't fucking need your money, So how could I possibly be a gold digger? I know you've been cheating on me Caesar, I know you've been screwing your special secretary. Everybody talks about it, but I never tuned in, I trusted you. Now look at me pregnant and divorced. If you wish nothing to do with my baby, then that's fine with me. I don't need him or her to be near someone so horrid." Caesar struggled to say something but got shut down. Milani held her finger up signaling she wasn't finished speaking.
"I had a feeling you would say something like this when I informed you, so I brought reports for you to sign your parental rights over." She handed over the reports and what hurt was that he didn't even hesitate as he signed the papers. "There you go, now take off permanently." Caesar sneered at her as he viciously snickered. "You can never come running back so stop using this bastard of a child to get to me."
Jasmine looked at her friend's ex husband in rage as she dashed towards him. In his luck Milani already held her back prohibiting her from jabbing him in the face.
Milani looked at her lawyer ready to review what she would get from the separation. "Henry I want nothing, he can have the mansion, the jewelry, the pictures, he can have it all."
"Are you sure Milani you could get the mansion and a couple million dollars". Henry looked at Milani worriedly. Henry knew Milani since high school but never truly spoke to her given the fact that Caesar despised each other. With the last bit of courage she had left she nodded then turned from his worried face joining hands with Jasmine. "He can have it, I want no trace of memories regarding him. All I yearn for is a written restraining order." Milani raised her blood shot tears eyes and looked at her now ex husband with a smile. "Goodbye forever Caesar, this baby and I will never get in your path ever again."
