Chapter 16 - Teleportation

The old lady with the golden monocle massaged her hunched back and wrinkled her mouth into a smile, "You're safe now. We all had a long day, best to get some rest. Rob, be a dear and set up the protective barrier for sleep will you." "Yes Ma'am." The man said, putting his muscles to work, drawing down carbon curtains marked with protective circles.

"Any questions will be answered once everyone has enough rest, dear." The old lady looked at Indigo. Xiao Kai looked at his grandma and climbed into the passenger seat beside Julia.

After finding a comfortable spot to rest, Indigo decided to log on to the system but was not able to. Rob who was resting beside him said with his eyes closed, "The protection circle deactivates the system. That's how we hide." "Who invented the system?" Indigo asked. "Well, you did." Rob give a slight pause and laughed, "Just joking, none of us here did. You should get some sleep."

As Indigo drifted into his dreams, he saw his mum and dad. He was chasing his parents in the golden wheat meadow. His parents laughed at him, cheerfully encouraging him to catch up. His golden retriever barked in ecstasy. They kept calling out to him but did not refer his name as Indigo.

The dream stopped as soon as he felt a slap on his face. "Indigo, wake up! Stay with me!" Rob yelled while slapping his face. After he saw Indigo opened his eyes, he barked out "You just stopped breathing all of a sudden and your heart stopped beating! What is wrong with you!?"

Indigo silently withheld his anger and expletives for the pain caused by the brute, and give him a sharp push.

Rob gasped in horror, is that the treatment give to someone who just saved his life?

"People don't slap a patient when his heart stop beating Rob." The granny took out her staff and hit both of them. Indigo was taken by surprised, how could the granny read his thought so well? The old woman continued, "It is just common sense."

"Apparently lacking in some people." Indigo thought. A sharp knock on the head followed,

Indigo looked at the perpetrator in awe- "how did she know?"

"We are almost there. Get ready for morning workout." A voice rang his everyone's guts as the vehicle drive into a small diner in the suburbs.

"What are we doing?" Indigo asked.

"On the job training." The voice replied after seeing Rob decidedly ignore Indigo.

"There is tremendous amount of energy at every leyline intersections, and we need to harvest it to gain information from the akashic records." The old lady explained.

"The akashic records? What is that?" Indigo asked, wondering if it was what he thought it was- the "saving" point.
